I think you got the genre wrong. This is very clearly a comedy. Delightfully absurd, slightly dark, a bit subversive, and overall a lot of fun. The ending is brilliant. Humanity is both doomed and saved. Humanity is no more but, because of this, humanity suffers no more. I love it. I think it would have also worked well if she had noticed the question on the back at the last moment and tried to answer it before the paper was taken away. So, she ends up only managing a small horizontal line, which is the Japanese "ichi" for "one". When we expect her to be the last remaining human being, instead it turns out to be the astronaut, stuck on the moon for the rest of his life. I don't know, I just think that would add a bit more comedy without taking away anything, but maybe it's too over the top.

What kind of exam asks for the current world population? You could only give a definite answer by telling the students to round the answer to the nearest millions or so, but never the exact number as the world population drastically changes every second that goes by. Even if she put a relatively near number from the current exact number, she'll still affect thousands or millions of people.
@@gengis737 You’re right. But in the movie, even if she answered the question hundreds of thousands of people would go missing because she’d probably round her answer by the millions.

This story is an episode of a TV series in Japan, called “Yo nimo kimyou na monogatari” Which means “bizarre tales” or smt like that. “世にも奇妙な物語” The episode is called “優等生” (yuutousei) which means “a good student” Really good episode
And even Ichikawa city itself, though administratively in Chiba prefecture, not Tokyo, but actually is a Tokyo's suburb with a HALF a MILLION population on its own.
What ??? Are you kiddin me😂😂😂😂 what the hell was with the ending. I couldn't stop laughing coz it it makes me remember the fictional story I wrote.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
One thing I love to do is to pause the movie to read some of the quiz/exam questions to see if I can answer them correctly, and some of them are pretty easy. For example, “Which country left the EU in 2020” and “What is the name of the canal where a container ship got stuck in 2021”?
There was a Fairly Odd Parents episode with this premise, thank goodness it didn't get too out of hand. The most significant thing that happened in that episode was North and South Dakota becoming a single state, all because Timmy said there were 49 states in the US.
Final question: What is the current world population? Asuka: *Left it blank* The current world population: *No Humans existing* Why am I laughing at this scene? 😂😂😂

This reminds me of that episode from Fairly Odd parents, when Timmy wishes he was always right and later finds out that whatever he answers is right and becomes reality. One day in class, Mr. Crocker asks Timmy how many stars are in the American flag, Timmy answers 49 and notices the 50th star is removed from the flag and there are only 2 presidents on Mt. Rushmore, instead of 4. By the way, Asuka is cute!

What kind of exam asks for the current world population? You could only give a definite answer by telling the students to round the answer to the nearest millions or so, but never the exact number as the world population drastically changes every second that goes by. Even if she put a relatively near number from the current exact number, she'll still affect thousands or millions of people.
That what i was thinking a few millions would dissapear and a few millions would appear
It's quite usual in geography test to ask you the population of a country, so why not the world population ?
I would say 8 billions just to get more people
@@gengis737 You’re right. But in the movie, even if she answered the question hundreds of thousands of people would go missing because she’d probably round her answer by the millions.
