Thanks! Now, how do you FINISH the braid? I'd love to make a belt with some of the braiding techniques out there like this, but braids are not something you can just cut and singe. How do you securely lock everything in place without transitioning into some large and unwieldy knot?
Muchas gracias por el video, mí papá hacía trenzas de nieve y de doce tientos, y nunca me quiso enseñar muchísimas gracias por compartir,me trae muchos recuerdos.
Love the video- came across it as I was looking on how to braid flat for a breast collar in muletape. Interested in calculations on length tho- no one shows or explains for a 1' rope how much cord one would actually need. I have subscribed as I love learning new things! keep up the good work!
Hi, your video is very easy to follow. I am wanting to make my best friend a pair of split horse reins. They would be 7' long. I have no idea how long each strand would be to achieve this length. These kind of calculations are over my head, I really hope you can help me . Thanks so much. Can't wait to hear from you
I'd have liked to see a 4-strand braid. The first even-numbered example was the 10 and it proceeded at lightning speed to confuse the hell out of me (of course, I confuse easy) and I needed a little tutorial on how to knot the ends into a ball to repair the rope on my dog's Jolly Ball.
I recently discovered your channel when I ran across the 14x12 herringbone demo you posted. Learned something new in the way of expansions and am still trying to understand why it works; I learned expansions and HB interweaves differently. Do you know if it’s possible to tie a HB interweave in a 4Lx5B knot? Enjoy the vids, thanks for sharing. Donald
@@caliberwhips9595 Great, I look forward to seeing it. I’ve tried a number of ways but can’t seem to find the right sequence. I’m basically ok with even bights in general. Thanks for the response. Donald
So what technique would you use to join two flat braids together? Would you connect each strand with a bend? Or is there a nicer way of connecting the two together?
@@caliberwhips9595 That would be awesome because I haven't found much online on the subject. Using bends works... But hopefully your method looks (and feels) much nicer.
@@caliberwhips9595 I really appreciate the video response man! But.. It still wasn't what I was looking for. I was curious if the braid's *length* could be extended with another braid, not the width. It'll probably end up with me re-braiding my strap with extra-longer string. However, that braid width splice vid is still great. Didn't know that was a thing. I might try that for other things.
This is great. Could anyone point me in the direction for how to go from a flat braid to a diamond plait? EG: Flat braid 12 strands for a keeper loop for a stock whip, then join both sides into a 12 strand diamond plait overlay.
@@caliberwhips9595 I’m wanting a set of split reins with clips on one end & leather poppers on the other end. Flat braid about 3/4” wide and 8’ long each. How much paracord would I need for that? How long for each strand?
I wrap up the ends and rubber band them! It keeps it neat and tidy and a *lot* easier. You pull out whatever length you want go have out and keep doing that keeps it short and neat and reduces tangling 😁

Hi Donald, Yes it is possible to expand the 4x5 into a herringbone. I should do a video on it.

It looks like you pulled the filler strands out of the paracord using only the outer jacket
correct

Sort of, I can do a video on that actually. There is a pretty simple technique.

So is the cord gutted ? Trying to make 12 strand belt for surprise anniversary gift
Thanks for video helps a lot 😊
yes
How do you finish it
I really wanna have a go at this but I have 0 clue where to start with what length to cut. Any advice? I need to braid two 29” lengths.
to play it safe, double the length of your end product

How do you keep the loose ends from tangling up if you’re braiding with much longer cords?
I pull out each strand at a time. It's a little tedious, but it's what I got to do.
