The plastic bolts nobody likes will spread an impact load across the surface of the dome, ie if it falls over. The metal ones won't spread the load so far and may, therefore, with the same impact intensity, deform the dome. I may be wrong (someone will correct me), but just thought you'd like to know.
It may do but the plastic ones don't even reach to some of the plates so the screws needed to be longer anyways. Plus, if the thing falls over, Im going to be having a very bad day.
while watching you add the electronic part's to the head here I can't help but want to do this my self but add a cannibalized smart phone to it, a real microphone, omni directional, and a small colour HD camera. turn the head into a self contained nanny cam that you can take off the body or mount to it with a twist. and two things I would change about this unit would be to replace the wheels with treads, and give it real ankles with a traceable middle foot.
What's it matter what the screws look like when they're inside the head :P That's 1 mod I can very easily live without man. And damn I live for the day I get a mention in one of your videos ^.^ I need the promo basically - you're probably going to hit 10,000 by year end. I'll be lucky to hit 200 :P
lol. The screws were £2 for 50 on Amazon. I got them as I really don't want any plates falling out when the thing is together. You will notice some of the plastic ones don't even touch the plates

Yep. The wheels def need tread. It doesnt work well on carpet.
