Monse Gonzalez because art is made for everyone to enjoy and to brighten or improve the day of someone. Hopefully this brightened your day or entertained you. Who knows? Maybe your ideas were challenged?
Good luck!! And omg you have so much time to craft a fab portfolio. I didn’t end up applying to any art schools in high school because I didn’t have enough time so lol don’t do what I did 😭
Your portfolio is so creative and gorgeous! I really enjoyed hearing the stories behind the art! Also the life size Rebecca is out of this world like wow!! You’re very talented!🧡🧡
When you don't know any of the art school application things but just came here to see the artwork- Seriously though the art is so cool, I love them so much!! Also I see a lot of people down in the comments who wanna apply for art school as well, I just want to wish all of you good luck
this is the most helpful portfolio video i’ve seen, its exactly what ive been looking for. thanks so much for sharing, you’re so creative and inspiring.
Basically I used a hat mannequin as a base (it’s, like, a slender man bust??? Blank egg face). Then I bent wire over the mannequin to make an armature for the basic face structure, and supported them with little foam blocks so they wouldn’t bend back down flat. I covered the armature structure with paper clay, let it dry, sanded it down, spray painted it for a nice even coat, and went into value/colour detail with acrylic paint! The eyelashes are fake lashes from a drugstore and the hair’s just a wig from online. The goggles and black collar thing are made from EVA foam (I think that’s what it’s called?) I hope this helped! I had a great time making this one and I’m so glad you liked it! :D
I was waiting for this video since you said you were making it, and I want to say that the wait was worth it. Your portfolio has a lot of creative themes and forms, and you have such an amazing control of different mediums; no wonder why they accepted you, you made legit art, and dare I say masterpieces. I do have some questions tho, regarding the "show your disposition to learn new things and push your limits" thing. I, living in Venezuela, have a hard time when trying to acquire new mediums because of how expensive they are; do you consider that avoiding the showcasing of multiple techniques and mediums due to the fact that you can't afford them is a problem to be wary of? And a curious question of mine would be, did you sign for the IB Art Diploma?, and if so, would you recommend signing up for it? Hope to see more of your videos soon, and hey, can't wait for tomorrow's update 👀✨❤️
Multiple mediums is always great but I've seen a lot of fellow classmates that didn't include them in their portfolio! In the end it really just depends on what you do with said mediums (sounds generic, I know, but it's true). You don't necessarily need a lot of mediums in your portfolio and if you're unable to include them, I really wouldn't worry! I went to an IB school, and took IB art, and they required us to do the IB finals (the final IB Art exhibition) but I didn't sign up for the IB Diploma. Sounds confusing LOL but bear with me! I basically took all the IB required classes except for TOK and didn't do the Extended Essay. Long story short, I took IB courses but didn't sign for the diploma itself, if that makes sense. Tbh I really don't think it affected me (esp. for an art school) but if you're planning on going down a more academic track I would probably go for it! I hope this answered your question, and if you have any more feel free to ask :D
your work is just marvelous! The illustration series is great~Well,I have just submitted my application for RISD ED,and I has one small question,Did you include process documentation in your portfolio~?I hear from some people that RISD loves that but I did not include any, will that be a problem~?
Sorry if this is a personal question, but I want to know how much are you paying for RISD?? I am international student, and I want to transfer there, but I know most prestigious schools for animation are really expensive, but I hope to win an scholarship. I am a transfer student, I went first to a community college.
pawrts slides :) I managed to squeeze in a bit over 20! But you can’t just throw a bajillion pieces together, you gotta do it w reason (e.g. did two different pieces, the hair observational drawings, by saying they were a diptych)
i have a question when did you apply how long did everything take to finish up? and when are applications usually open thru ? btw love the art pieces they are so beautiful
Risd's regular decision deadline for this year is Feb 1! Mine was similar if I remember correctly. Each piece really depended on how big/intricate each thing was + how familiar I was with the medium! For example, watercolour pieces took a lot less time, while some of the sculpture stuff (like the Life Sized Rebecca) took a few months. Granted, I was away for summer break during that time as well, so I guess a month if you squashed all the time together??? Thank you so much and good luck!!!!!
ur work is very inspiring .I am fine arts student maam I want some help in my final thesis project can u share some ideas or topics.it will help me alot
When I submitted I think the maximum was ~22! They update the requirements a lot tho (e.g. I didn’t have to do the bike drawing, and apparently they’re not doing SAT anymore???) so its best to double check for this year!
your 3D bust is da bomb. It totally thought it was made in a software like zbrush/maya. You probably know about this already, but art station is a cool place to hang if you're into animation. People put up really cool artworks on there
Unfortunately I’m actually an American citizen, so I don’t know anything about fees for international kids :( but the information should be available on the school site!
Y'all like I don't wanna be racist or anything, but that's just n observation: Why are like 99% of the people showing their RISD portfolio on RUclips Asian/Asian-American?
I didn't take the SAT's, I took the ACTs instead! My score was a high 33 (it was like,,, a 33.5 if you calculated it, but it was rounded down to 33 rather than 34 and I'm s a l t y) But tbh I think that's a bit excessive for art school, even RISD, which is more academic (as I've heard) haha!
RISD only gives out need based scholarships to freshmen, and I didn’t qualify for financial aid so no :( it feels like a bit of a waste because I received some pretty big scholarships + scholars program stuff from literally,,,, every other school,,, I got in to,,,,,,, I’m totally not salty about that. RISD + financing = an hour long rant from me. But if you can get financial aid then it shouldn’t be as much of a problem, and you can just disregard me LOL. But to be honest, every art school / college nowadays has sky high prices. For example, I got a 15k/year scholarship from SVA, and even with that I still would be paying the same-ish amount to go to RISD anyway due to SVA’s crazy dorm prices. (NY spacing ain’t cheap... lol). So even though I gripe about RISD, it’s not the most outlandish compared to other institutions. This isn’t meant to discourage you; it’s just that our education system is so screwed up rn + inflation that it’s just the reality of college at the moment, which sucks complete egg. :( but yEs, please apply for financial aid. It helps tons. A quick google search will bring you to a lot of external scholarships as well. I might make a video on why I ended up choosing RISD over all the other schools, which will probably go into more depth! I hope this helped!
Why am I watching this? 😭 I’m a dental student

I love your artwork! did you ever take an art class outside of school (like a portfolio building class or something?)
Very impressive!
ok this is random but I have the exact same cup that’s on your bed 👀 ON ANOTHER NOTE your portfolio is so beautiful & I love your personality!
I have the shirt she’s wearing 👀
I really really enjoy your Rebecca 3D piece! How did you implement wire into the piece and also what type of clay did you use to mold the face?
Basically I used a hat mannequin as a base (it’s, like, a slender man bust??? Blank egg face). btw, when it says that u should upload for example 15 images, does it refer to the art pieces or the slides you submit?
