When dogs get in a fight, the best way to break it up is to pull them apart by their back legs. It doesn’t hurt them. They just kind of collapse. It does something that causes them to open their mouth, so you can separate. I learned that at the dog park. It also helps to keep you from getting bitten.

Having dogs now, I realize that they can be so dramatic for no reason. My black lab, Momo, started limping because she needed to be scratched. She is also the one to paw at you if you stop petting her and cries when you say no.
Lol, my dog wanted to go play with another dog once, so he dropped onto the ground and started yelping like we were beating him. We got so many concerned (and several dirty) looks. I was so embarrassed. 😂
My sister has a chihuahua, when she’s in trouble she’ll run with a fake limp. Like “don’t be mad at me, look how frail I am”

Awww, it was so cute and precious watching the siblings playing with each other. They reminded me of kids playing chase in the backyard...love it! Huck and Margo were so happy to see you, too. Aww so cute how they rememebred and were so excited!! Sorry to hear about the scare with the fight... been there before and it's not a good time. In my experience, the best thing to do for a dog fight is grab a blanket and throw it over them. Though, I don’t suppose one would be readily available in your back yard.
The best way to break up a dog fight is don't yell, and choke the attacking dog out, it sounds cruel, but its better than a hurt dog or you getting injured

With dog fights as a vet tech and someone that worked in a shelter, I was taught that water works best. Pour or spray them with water for the shock value to snap them out of fight mode
Some good things to remember when dogs are fighting is usually the hose by spraying them with water if this doesn't help is the one that is in attack mode is by grabbing both back feet and lifting up and pulling the dog away.. just some insight I learned. ❤

We have a boy like Moon too, his name is Kabota. He has days where he gets a little nasty and doesn't want to be messed with, sometimes he gets into tussles with our other male who is more like Wolf as he's more submissive but will stand up for himself when pushed too far. There's never been any blood or marks, it just sounds HORRIFIC. Owning multiple of a completely different species is definitely a ride, love them tho 😂❤
Joey, u probably won’t ever see this..BUT I felt I just gotta try anyhow..for the relationship between you, Wolfie, and Moons sake.. so if u do happen to see this..
I felt I just have a need to recommend the channel “SENZA TEMPO CANE CORSO”. Rachel over there has cane corsos, however, her vids can apply to any breed and any dogs in general (don’t have to be just corsos, altho she makes me want one after watching her for years, and seeing how much of what a FANTASTIC breed they truly are). She shows and explains so much dog behaviors thru her pack of corsos, just out playing in the yard and home. A lot of it is just hierarchy, dominance, what to do when there’s altercations within the pack, and tons more.
She’s amazing, interesting, highly educational, and I thought I knew a lot about dog and pack behaviors myself. But NOPE.. I have learned so much more I never knew I could, and have applied some things to my own training of therapy dogs thru what I have learned from her.
Something I learned from her especially, was mounting that occurred in this video, usually isn’t what we think it is (sexual), it’s all about asserting dominance and/or testing boundaries, possibly showin mama they’re all grown up lol. I think u could also benefit a lot from her channel. Especially with the amount of rescues and fostering you have been doing (btw..ur a true blessing with all the animals ur helping❤️👏🏼). With her amount of experience, amount of vids she uploads, and able to show/explains thru actual real time and natural occurrences from her pack..I feel she could really help in guiding to keep your dogs in a place where they get along better, and possibly avoid tension and fighting that could arise amongst themselves, other dogs in need that you bring in to help, and play dates and family reunions. Plus her AMAZING pack of corsos are so gorgeous, and funny and I have watched many grow up from tiny puppies that I’ve even watched being born in real time. I swear you’ll like it over there💁🏼♀️👍🏻
But yea, if you see this.. Senza Tempo Cane Corso..a great youtuber/channel, that I cannot get enuff of, and cannot RECOMMEND enuff of!!

Dogs can get more excited and have more energy when they’re not with their owners. Especially retrievers or other high energy breeds. Just because they were energetic doesn’t mean they aren’t chill at their home!
I think the other puppies were more licky out of pure excitement to see a new person
But they could be less licky at home, same with hyperness

Be careful with that wound on his face. My husky got bit by my other husky right where moon did. we didn’t think much of it we thought it was very surface level and just kept it clean. After a few days his whole snoot was swollen and he had to go to the vet because it had abscessed. So just be warned that that sucker can get infected and then you too will have a football faced husky for a day

I'm a supervisor at a doggy daycare facility. Our playtimers carry an airhorn with them. If a fight breaks out they blast the air horn. The loud sudden noise might startle them apart. It's not guaranteed, but it can work. Otherwise it's tough to break up a fight if it's just you.

I heard throwing water on fighting dogs could break up the fight - maybe turn the hose on them. Or if you’re in the house bang a couple of pots together to distract them or throw a blanket over each of their heads.
One way that’s effective in stopping a dog fight is spraying the hose at them.

I used to have 3 dogs .I figured out that if you ring the doorbell they stop immediately
Hi Joey apprentice dog trainer here so I worked with a couple trainers to train my own service dog and I’m currently in school to become a service dog trainer myself and I was told if I ever witness a dog fight I could do one of two things a if you have access to water you can pour it on their heads and that will deter them from fighting and kind of get their attention back on you or if it escalates you pull the back legs of both dogs so that they have to look at you and they let go

My Grandma's dog used to fight each other. I think Dominance training would help. Like having both Wolfie and Moon in sessions with you so they know YOU are the alpha. I don't think it has to be like military training but you can probably do it holistically at home once or twice a week. Maybe get some videos and a partner to come over to assist. My sister has two giant german shepherds and they are boy and girl and fight all the time and have been raised with each other lol the female is the alpha but the male is double her size. Its a whole dynamic but when i break up their fights i usually have to remove the alpha female and everything's fine again.

A loud Squeaky toy gey's them out of the spell. But you have to time it right. Once they get really into it it's harder to get them out of their trance when they fight. I use it at the dog park when things get too intense.
