This is really helpful for me! I was invited to an expo with my phone photos; need to probably remove some banding from some tough photos. I can just select stars instead of the dog in your example and proceed like you did. Awesome!
Another great and helpful video! Thank you! I understand working in 16 bit can help eliminate banding. When it's time to print it's okay to convert to 8 bit as long as no further editing is done in 8 bit. Thanks again!!!
Often after adjusting color in camera RAW, there is massive noise and banding which destroy the image. Does this tutorial work after color adjustments in C RAW?
Hi Jess. Thanks for this super helpful vid. And thanks for being so clear! Hey- would it be best to work on a psd rather than a jpg? Less lossy...or does it matter?
That’s amazing.. 3/4 through your beginners photoshop course, and for the first time since following your RUclips videos, I finally really understood what you were explaining!!! 😅🤩🙌🏻
I have some doubts, have you created the solar curve adjustment previously? I looked where I could find it but I don't know exactly where it is, or if it has to be done before, or how. thanks
@@ThatPhotographySpot Thanks, I just searched your videos and was wondering the same thing as well. I JUST had some banding on an image where I tried to blow out the white backdrop to 255. The banding occurred where I softened and feathered the mask around the dog. Those areas read 251, 252, and so on.
I had strange case of having light banding in a RAW image (uncompressed) the background was bright but had dark patches, raising the shadows amplified the banding a little more. Then no matter how I exported the banding became even more obvious! A lot of my banding issues on other images came because I was using 'save as' in photoshop, but now I convert to sRGB 8bit and 'export as' and this has solved this issue for my other images. But thanks for the video because this actually worked! There are other tutorials which used gaussian blur I think, but they did not work
Do you offer any "remote walk throughs?" I've watched your vid (and a few others) regarding the removal of banding, and NOTHING is working. I need to release the photos in a month and until I figure out how to fix the issue (and potentially stop it from happening again) I don't want to retouch the other photos from the set, which will require similar retouching and therefore will likely have the same banding issue. PLEASE HELP!
another query, if after making the surface blur and adding noise, there is a lot of noise left... could you put a gaussian blur again? Or would that cause the bands again? thank you again
No I wouldn’t add a blur, noise in an image is normal as long as it isn’t excessive but it can be run through Topaz Labs DeNoise AI if required. Hope that helps 😊
The bands I really hate are the ones you get from using a 95% or lower srgb gamut monitor at someone else's house, without realizing they're not in the image which you have just bollocked by trying to remove bands.
Thank you so much Jessica! God bless you!
Thank you Jess!! I hope it's okay if I ask... How does banding happen? How do we prevent it?
Love love the five minute sets 😀😀😀
What great feedback, thank you 🙏
oh my gosh!! Another hugely informative 5 minutes!! Thank you!!
You're SO welcome, thank you 🙏 😊
Hi Jess, another helpful video! I love how you repeated everything in the end, that makes it so easy to grasp it!

👏 👏👏 That's great to hear. So glad you're enjoying it 😊

A solar curve is something that you make yourself or you can google it for an action to download 😊

How do I get the solar curve action?
Hi Carlos, the solar curve action is available within the premium membership 😊
Any quick tips of how to get rid of Halos?
It all depends on the type of halo. Without knowing more information I can’t really help 🤔

Now i need a video of how to apply this "solar curve layer" - a photoshop newbie
We'll add it to our suggestion box 🤓

😂 😂. I feel your pain!
Jess, 5 minutes later everything completed. Me, 5 minutes later, now how do I create a layer. :P
😂 I know you're better than that! 😄
This method doesn't work on all images! It's just to add noise and nothing else!
It just made it worse, fake tutorial
Would love to see your take on it. Drop us a link when it’s uploaded 😊
