For some reason, you chose not to delve into the ins and outs of moonbear rescue. This is sad as I think it would have been an excellent opportunity to raise awareness on this issue. China aims to be a model country in a few decades. The time is now for this beautiful country to show the world that it means business: eliminate moonbear farming and provide alternatives for the ingredients of TCM. This series clearly deserves a third episode.
can't agree more. and I suspect many Chinese don't know that bear farming exists either. The concept of animal welfare is still relatively new in China, and I think any initiative to raise awareness and drive a societal shift is a good direction
People will naturally gravitate towards things and places that somehow seem familiar to them. One gets a feeling of safety and home. That familiarity could be residual memories from past lives according to the Buddhists concept of karma and latent tendencies. Professor Ian Stevenson at University of Virginia had done research on the topic.
It might not need to be that fanciful I think. This is just an example of how a normal people would react through a normal way of making a contact to a different culture and country. You get to know about what they eat, see their way of behaving, hear and see the language and characters they uses, and you might get interested, that's it. Plain simple. The reason this seems pretty rare nowadays is just that people always look at China with impressions like ‘communist’, ‘autocratic’, people simply does not think it is cool, so they just don't want to get involved to China. They just misses every chance to get to know about China because of all these prejudice. And who rooted those impressions to people so hard? The US and western medias.
as a (Malaysian) chinese, myself.... i have to admit.... i forgot 90+% of my chinese writing..... i 100% depend on my phone's PINYIN IME/DICTIONARY.... i can recognise the character, but i can't remember or write it on paper (except my own Chinese name , of course.....)

罗朗也是因为一个中餐馆的厨师朋友，而对中国和中餐产生的感情。中国人最与别人不同的，可能就是一个“情“字吧。西方的天生的“有情人"，终究会被中国吸引吧。
正常接触中国的步骤就应该是这样，因为饮食、因为某个人、因为接触到文化等等。
但是美国媒体就看不得这样，他们一定要让全球人从政治眼光切入，给你先入为主，然后你自然就不感兴趣了。不仅不感兴趣，甚至还充满很多荒诞可笑的偏见。
