Cool Ysl Old Formulas, They did make a 2001 YSL M7 Old Old Formula that listed only Four Ingredients on the box, it has the clear bottle sides as opposed to a tinted bottle, also this Old Formula of YSL La Nuit , ohhh my . gooood. It was the 2010 version or late 09, there is absolutely no comparison to with that one and todays current formulas. So So Delicious and worth any amount if you find it on eBay or something, Im always searching for Old Formula YSL La Nuit 2010, and even 2011 is just superb.
I agree old formulas are something else - it's sad when you knew what these frags once were and have to put up with some of these watered down scents... :/

L'HOMME Ultime is another great fragrance from YSL that is criminally underrated
Yes Ultime gets no love but it smells amazing.

Max please do the la nuit shoot out I really want to know the difference between the two as this is one of my favorites
There is this smoky powdery delicious dna in the older formulas, you can INSTANTLY tell the difference and if you find the older formula as young as 2011 its amazing and I saw some "Older Formula Ysl La Nuit" on ebay from $150 to $500!! But if you can get it around $200 for a 100ml GRAB it Marvelous Major

Max please, more than comparison I'd love to see you tell us ho to make the new formula more like old formula. Would decanting it and adding a few drops of cardamom oil and lavender help? I know you love mixing frags so, I was really wondering... how to make new formula stronger without changing the smell. Would cardamom and a but of oakmoss oil help? Or some other oil? I would LOVE to see that. Then I'd have no regret buying the new bottle and adding some oils... and bam, closer to the original and longer lasting.

Nice list! 👍🏼 I can’t believe Kouros is still around. I wore it back in the late 1980’s-early 90’s. I love La Nuit de L’Homme (thanks Jeremy) and recently purchased Y EDP (haven’t had time to real wear it yet).
I ignored Kouros in the 80s, still haven't smelled it. And I'm still looking for Rive Gauche .

Vintage Kouros. It's still the undisputed king of the YSL pour homme line.
and it smells like a middle eastern cab driver who keeps urinal cakes in his pocket.

What is the current version like?
Warren Demmon it’s pretty good. Never smelled vintage but the batch from 2019 kicked up the civet note from
the previous years.....From what I can smell. It’s beautiful.
@@warrendchild less honey and warm animalic notes. Even the 2012 formulation is different from the current 2015 formulation
Rive Gauche is still my If I could only keep 1 fragrance niche or designer I would pick it over anything else, unfortunately I have not been able to locate the old bottle version anymore but the la collection version I think is still great for a reformulated version they did a great job.
Awesome Five from Ysl. I think the formulations from YSL are as crazy if not more crazy than creed batches. This seems to be true mostly with there flankers I've found
I have stocked up on the largest l'homme and La nuit de l'homme bottles I could find from the original few years releases.
I'm a sucker for vintage as you know...I have a vintage YSL pour homme from the 1972. It's like an olfactory time machine....

Max, I have a new series suggestion for you that I don't think other RUclipsrs have yet implemented. The best of each house but by collection, which is what I was kind of expecting to see in your video. For example, YSL has 4 collections: KOUROS
, L'HOMME, LA NUIT DE L'HOMME and, Y. One or two examples per collection and why you think they are the best, along with your comments about notes, the collection main characteristics, etc. Thanks and keep these great videos coming!
Nailed 'em all Max. Bingo bango. For me, Jazz Prestige might edge out Kouros by just a bit, but Kouros is easily the more iconic. Will be interesting to see if YSL can get off their flanker horse and release something better than Y in the next few years, but I'm not hopeful. C'est la vie. The wonder years are behind us.

I sprayed current formulation of Kouros on me tonight, 1 spray on my shirt just for around the house. Definetly a mans man type of scent. It is no joke

I wore M7 years ago and I always wondered what happened to it. Thank you for featuring it and revealing that it is discontinued. You said it correctly that scent was ahead of its time. In the late 80's? I wore Jazz which then came in a plastic black and white bottle. I thought that was a great scent. I definitely will revisit Kouros and M7.
YSL is legendary indeed. My fave is the original M7, followed by og Live Jazz.
Live Jazz was a true masterpiece. I had it back in 2003 . What a mind blowing scent ! Still my fav YSL fragrance to date , wish this one came back with its original formulation !

Just bought the M7 oud absolu and it was an instant love. Smells great from the opening to the very drydown. This is what Lalique Encre Noire should smell like. The M7 oud absolu makes a great spring / fall / winter addition to the Lalique Encre Noire Sport for summer.

In 2016 La Nuit de L' Homme drove me crazy! How could something smell so good and last 2 hrs with 30 minutes of projection. I sold it out of frustration. Btw look forward to the old vs new formulation review...pls help me understand.

ejtullis I have the 1st reformulation and it's pretty decent in longevity and projection. Definitely not as bad as the newer reformulation. I always take with me a small decent of it just in case.
I love YSL's Opium pour homme. Punchy, interesting, layered.

Number 1 YSL PH never forgot that sent since it was my father’s first. Number 2 Opium, my mother’s 3 Kouros my brother’s at the time. Number 4 Jazz which was mine. Number 5 it had to be Opium for man.

Nicky T As far as I know, it is discontinued through the normal retail channels at the counter. I got mine as a gift for participating in a Mother's Day raffle at Saks. Amazon is a good place to start.

I love both Opium EDT and the parfum, I was going to talk about them as honorable mentions but I didn't want the video to be too long! They could have made it as well!
Max Forti thank you! It would be great if you could do the video about Opium Pour Homme as part of ‘classics’! Today too many people wear Aventus or Sauvage, and great scents like Opium or Antaeus were forgotten. I was born in 1985 and don’t have some nostalgic feelings about such scents, I just love them for their beauty. Have a nice day!
I still have a Chanel Anateus on my dresser, powerhouse of a fragrance, some smaller ones were Old Polo Green, Animale Animale, Zino Davidoff, and Xeryus was not bad.

Hey Alex D..They also have the old formula for DG too which is by far better than the newer. Older Formulas of anything seem to be the best formulas, i think becuase there were no laws on how they extracted the resins and such. But now they do have laws in place.

You have to love the frag houses (sarcasm) and how they go cheap on the ingredients (reformulations) and give you a lesser product. Never do you hear WOW THE REFORMULATION IS A MUCH BETTER FRAGRANCE. The frag business is a joke. One can only imagine that the original creators can not be pleased with how these houses have dumbed down their creations.

i bought a bottle of ysl pour homme in 2003. it was definitely a summer type fragrance, it is discontinued now, it was in an aqua blue and dark green bottle, there was also a version for ladies, in a light pink and white bottle. If anyone could post the name I'd really appreciate it as i would love to buy another one.
found it, and it was a different house, estee lauder beyond paradise.
If you want a unique scent too with the YSL ligne, take a look at BODY KOUROS. Very underadar

Hey Lukas. Mr. Foozh-air or Fougere means the category of fragrance is a woodsy sharp green earthy type, very very popular in the 80s and early 90s.

I think they lost they're way being its not projecting and last as long as the 1st formula. They should go back to the drawing board and make it last longer and project a little longer, about 1 feet away.
