Hi honey did you do the zipper
We're the Russos j
I think that is very cool. But no way this thing is worth almost 50 grand
I love this idea, not the toilet though. I would take out the dining area and partition it and put shower and toilet in that of the caravan. Really great design with thatexception
We have been rv'ing in Australia for sixteen years. We have fantastic beaches and would take our three kids camping every Christmas. They came with us until they were 25 and we would have the best happy hours. We had a camper trailer which meant we could comfortably sleep the five of us adults. We have just purchased a new Avan which is an 'A' frame and similar in style to the one you reviewed. It is being built and hopefully we will have for Christmas for a trip to the beach just above Coffs Harbour.
+Peggy McCrystal we've never seen the Avon, but have checked out a couple of those A frames. Hope you get yours soon and enjoy the trip to the beach!
Thank you for showing what it looks like inside without the top being raised! Great video.
I like that it has glass instead of some sort of soft walls in the pop up
I like all the windows and the idea that you're in a tree house w/o going outside, especially when it's very hot or freezing cold.
What a great trailer. I would have never considered something this small before seeing this version. Love it.
It's high up on my list. Those saying it's too expensive, it's hard to justify the cost if you don't see the value. My only concern is how hot it gets in direct sunlight. Absolutely love the "open concept."
Re: the cost. Much better build quality than most RV’s. Well thought out floor plans. Towability. High resale. We’ve owned a T@B for 10 years and heard the same about them. We lust after this trailer!
A view while you use the toilet. A must have in any trailer.
If it had a shower, I'd consider. Otherwise, I love the windows and the views one can enjoy w/o going outside.
don't get me wrong but this is a nice camper. with all due respect to alto. no shower no sale
The other model has a shower...
Michael Mack
Michael Mack
I've seen a LOT of Australian/British camper trailers that sell for similar prices that have NO bathroom or shower! Could be worse...
Oh come on! What's a little Funk between family. 😁 That's what cologne and perfume is for!
coolest tear dropper of all time.
Coolest camper of all time. No wonder there's a waiting list.
Such a nicely-done presentation. Just a short intro, you were inside in 33 seconds, the filming was good, the spiel was organized and clear, almost all the questions people have asked were answered in the video. You both speak clearly and were delightful to listen to. You did a good job showing what this unit is all about. I really enjoyed looking at this.
Wendy Cutler I agree! My only critique is the use of a distortion lens distracted from the presentation. It reminded me of having vertigo.
They've thought of everything. I'm going to look at one with a complete bath. This is perfect to downsize to live in and travel across country. I love this. Thank you for Sharing.
Thank you so much for your reviews. We are looking for a small trailer that we can tow with our Jeep and your reviews are comprehenive and well done. I really appreciate being able to watch all of your reviews since I can't go and see many of the trailer's you are reviewing as they are not available in my area. We LOVE the Safari Condo, and are going to do more research into it. Thank you so much for your time and trouble, this provides a wonderful service to those of us who are seriously considering a small trailer.
Your Absolutely Right All The Best 110%.
I love the way you present your videos, this tear drop trailers are expensive now but i believe their prices will eventually come down once more people buy them, i am proud of the Canadian company that made this particular one.
+James sitati thank you! They are neat little trailers but considering the waiting list is a year out they are oversold. Unless they ramp up production, they can't sell anymore.
I've never been camping but it's 2 am and RUclips brought me here
Nowhere in this vid did i hear him tell anyone they should buy one. If it cost too much for you then its not for you. I dont want a trailer myself, but its a cool design and I dont need to hunt for words to shit on it. Its a cool teardrop and thats that.
Thank you! We made the video to show everyone a very cool trailer that most people would never see otherwise. Glad you enjoyed the design of it and thanks for the comment :)
Shut up ppl that watch these videos way h em cause they like an and we've the prices it's. Very expensive but it's cool
@64maxpower Amen to that! Don't get why people have to always pull down good ideas! Aside from pooing in the pantry, this actually looks rather cool! As for peoples budgets, if 27 K is too much, then maybe a 10K heavy hunk of non aerodynamic "tiny house" is better suited to the budget!!
@@DavidS-wm9ud 64 maxpower. Nowhere in the video did I hear you appointed the moderator of the discussion.
My concern about the Alto would be the ruggedness of the shell. With the two pieces sliding close to each other, I can see with rough roads, eventually they would twist and bind. I looked at it during my trailer hunting and settled on a small one piece fiberglass trailer that has performed well even on rough roads.
Kait's uncle who owns this hasn't had any problems with it and they take it on some rough roads...but I think for what you'r doing the one piece fiberglass rig is a better bet.
I am glad to hear that her uncle has been trouble free. I had a pop up for 15 years and babied it at best as possible but still the roof leaked after 10 years. With trailers being the price that they are and amount that they are used, I try hard to stay on top of potential problems. Your video gives a good review of the unit.
I have never seen a tear drop that was a "pop" up and all the windows making it even more amazing. the only thing I don't like is the bathroom. wish that was bigger. thanks for a great video
We agree on the bathroom but if it were bigger, there really wouldn't be room for much else.
***** very true! Still very cute and functional.
I love the windows. Being 6' tall I love that the roof goes up too.
That was our favorite feature!
We're the Russos
No shower no toilet - forget it.
Beth Ann
Would be a great toy for trips to state parks and remote wilderness areas. Of course not a permanent residence but still an awesome hideaway for weekends and vacations.
very cool concept but for 27k to start I want to see a better bath shower option.
Buy a sponge
I agree. They could have done more
Thank heavens you used a wide angle lens, or it would look exactly how small it is!
wow. this might be the best teardrops ive ever seen.
Price is so high you can literally make a tiny house for that amount
L M you can, but you can’t make it out of honeycomb aluminum and have it weigh this little. If you can make this cheaper with the same fit and finish I’ll be your first customer
How much are they ?
Kristie Miller start at $40k Canadian.
@@marie-joseepaulzak1936 lol you have to be kidding me! Hard pass.
there are many youtube videos denouncing the fragility of wood tiny houses, and that after few years, moving them once, and nightmare... and putting money in RV, was a much wiser investment...
I have no clue .
Anxiously waiting to head east in a couple of weeks to pick up our Safari.....exactly like this one I believe! Thanks for the tour!
What do you do when the roof lifting mechanism fails? But....a neat design.
This is one of THE BEST reviews I have ever seen, and I have spoken to a few RV/trailer centers. Thank you for the review, you both did an awesome job: great pertinent info, camera angles, demos, and presentation.
Wow, thank you AJ!
Joe Russo, how tall are you? it would help me judge space. also, shooting with a basic non distortion lens would make a big difference too.
In the video, he says he is 5'-11".
I agree. Most videos are done by RV salesman on a sales lot, and they're bad.
I came up on these mini travelers by mistake . I was just browsing. I didn't know it could be so awesome traveling and living in style. I'm disabled and can't drive. I hardly ever get out, maybe once a month or less. I live in scenic California and it wouldbe tooooooooo cool waking up in a different town every morning.. Good Morning America
What a slick tear drop! I can see it would help eliminate the claustrophobic feelings for sure! ☀
That is SLICK! If there were a bigger fridge, big tanks, and an indoor shower, we could totally do that full-time. LOVE the windows!
We agree - a bit too spartan as-is to be a full time rig.
Yet sooo close. If only they could manage to include those things. Heck, I could probably even make due with the small fridge, but not the lack of an indoor shower or larger tanks.
There is a shower option they just didn't get it
Man, if only they could figure out an indoor shower, it'd be perfect. Great review, btw.
There is a shower option if you want one.
We're the Russos he said indoor, i thought the shower is only outdoor the guy said in the video..
uh - I'm the guy in the video. This particular trailer doesn't have an indoor shower but you can order them with indoor showers if you want one.
***** o haha you are the guy lolol nice
Any idea if the shower is fulled walled or is it just a thin plastic sheet you pull around the short enclosure?
Cool for the size. Sux towing big stuff on tight, rural roads. This looks perfect for that type of thing
Love all the light and window area
Who would want to be stuck in hotel room ,when you could be boon docking all by yourself in the woods. Nature is always the best
The toilet is in the middle of everything and when you use it the door has to be open!? YELLS AT FAMILY* "ALRIGHT EVERYONE ONE....OUTSIDE.... IM PRERRY DOGGIN IT.... Hussle hussle move it!!! "
*Prairie.
Hahahahahaha
This is cool. I think the key selling point is also that it can be rolled into a regular garage when the top is retracted. This would save a lot of money for people who lives in an HOA community that doesn’t allow RV parking on driveway.
"Going to raise the top now"...16 hours later..."Well the top is almost up"...
😂😂😂😂😂
Literally how I felt. I’ll just get a Coleman for my Pilot
LoL 😂🤣🤣🤣
You are sooooooo patient, maybe just stay home and catch Wheel of Fortune.
Ikr, had to edit it twice too. I crank my popup by hand up and down twice before thing lowers once.
I like the point that you made for jeepers. This does seem like a perfect size and yes at that price point you could buy something larger or stay in hotel rooms but as a Jeeper I would not like to do that, so this would be a much better option for us. great video and lots of good info. Thank you.
I have a cassette toilet and they are a thousand times better than a black water tank in so many ways. You can get the SOG vent system and easy change out with a second cassette.
I’ve never seen anything more beautiful-in a compact way-thanks
I would be interested in buying just the pop-up shell-- I would finish the interior the way I want it myself.
I believe every product has it’s target market. This camper is not for me but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it. I think it’s very cool, nice and well built. Thanks for the tour😎
Very nice design, I always wanted a teardrop camper with a raiseable roof. I'm just not crazy about the bathroom situation; someone takes a dump in the kitchen, essentially. No indoor shower head is an issue too. The windows are nice.
Completely agree about the bathroom and one reason I wouldn't want to spend much time in this. They do have an option for a shower but our family who owns this trailer chose not to get it.
i think its too nice to even have a toliet inside, maybe it should be detachable so the cubicle with potty can be taken outside when needed a pop up screen for privacy and shield from the elements attached to it would be nice
I'd say that bathroom is for emergencies. Otherwise, get your flashlight out and hike down to the latrine (same for showers).
Joe, Could you please indicate where your Aunt and Uncle purchased this awesome teardrop? As I've searched online I've only found them in Australia or Canada. Looking for a dealership in the states.
this cute, but way too expensive for what you're getting
michelle sweetnich Yeah, your talking about a cheap house (but still a house nonetheless) or some bigger used moterhomes options for that kinda cash
Michel Schweinsberg You haven’t gone shopping lately have you?
@@TheGrandmaster1 motorhomes*
I saw that the retractable series starts at $38k. For $18k I got a 1 year old never used 28 ft travel trailer. I love the concept, the price point is way too high for what you get though.
You get what you pay for. These are not your typical low-grade travel trailer.
Think I can put the word out that I'm interested in a used one. Will start my savings now. Fun to go see the grandkids in. They would enjoy & older ones would want it. Cali
This should make Airstream jealous. I love this thing. The windows make it. I have a Jeep Wrangler that can tow it.
Yes, the windows are the key to this trailer!
I concur!
the windows make this trailer.
i'll take two, lol
We're the Russos how much do these go for? Very cool. Fiberglass roof?
Bajaheat from 35-40k
No. The unit is all aluminum sandwich with honeycomb core. Strong, light and leak tight.
This design is amazing. What a big difference. Its not for everyone but its definitely impressive
i would park that damn thing right on the beach and live there
maybe in 1856
swish007 me too !
I wasn't sold on it until he popped the top on it. While it's still not for me, (That bathroom is a joke) I have to agree with you; it would be perfect to have at the beach, top up for a great beach day/weekend.
In most places you could not do that some local 5 0 would hall you butt away. They frown on people squatting on beaches, especially in California. Same for Florida. But it does sound nice.
Palmer Cottrell its perfectly fine on Padre Island.
It's my new favorite teardrop trailer! Very nice and great features!
This thing speaks to the architect in me!!! Very cool!!
What is you get stuck in a thunderstorm, are those weather windows or screens?? On the pop up.
it's really too pricey for the same cost u could get a 40footer, or practically anything else
We've been looking at teardrops for several months now. This video was extremely helpful!! Thanks!
No way worth 27,000.00
That's insane.
Maybe 8,000.00
I think 17 is fair. They are obviously aiming to sell to enviroMENTAL types. This is America, they can charge what they want if there is the demand. I admire the innovation and design, but thank God I have more sense than to spend that kind of money on a small camper. I'd pay more and upgrade my vehicle, before I'd downgrade campers to pay more.
But this is kind of the way American youth think today- kinda backwards. I can see their scope- but I can't seem to not see that it is backwards...To each his own! God bless America!
Dmann 816 I don't think he's saying they shouldn't charge that. Just that it isn't worth it. Anyway, I'm inclined to agree with him.
I love when people declare the value of things. Thank you trailer appraiser guy.
My thoughts exactly really a joke how some people think they can really stick the arm in to see what they can get out of a person.
@@dmann8166 Dude, this rig is built in Canada. I love my country but education matters most. Get some.
Thanks for the great video! We are on the list, and your video sold us! Things that we are looking forward to: 1) can pull with a Honda Odyssey (don't have to have a bigger rig), 2) Outdoor Shower, 3) small indoor toilet (wish it was composting), 4) Solar power build in! We don't want an indoor shower. Love the pop-up hard shell. In the PNW, where it rains a lot when you camp, canvass pop-up get moldy and musty as we have found when looking for used ones. Can HARDLY wait!!!
$27k buys you a lot of nights in nice hotel rooms with full amenities. :)
+HueTubeR true but this is a much different way of traveling.
or a really nice travel trailer where you aren't on top of each other, Its a great idea but for it to be pheasable for most people it would have to have a lower price.
Was thinking it seemed a bit pricey to me too. :-)
You can resale this but you can't get anything back on that $27k of hotel rooms. dont compare campers to hotel stays. You get way more freedom and better views/flexibility/miles.
buy used... also even if this thing drops 75% in value that still is better than the $0 resale value from hotels... i'm just saying you can't compare the two.
I like this trailer. The window are amazing! I would get the wet bath option.
but the toilet - that is a deal breaker for me on this and many other campers no matter the size
jmarylastone it's just too cramped to poop enjoyably.
I thought good golly I would rather dig me a hole in the woods than have my head bobbing while "I'm doing the dodo" lol bad enough when someone tries to hold a conversation in a bathroom with stalls and here they'd be looking you in the eye while they talk!!!!
jmarylastone I worked on a documentary film project for two months. There were three of us sharing one large RV. On the very first day we established a rule:that the bathroom was for pee and shower only, not for the other thing. Don't matter the size of the RV it just seems very odd to do that sharing that space with others the sound and smell no thank you. Far too many clean restrooms seems to be a Starbucks at nearly every highway offramp these days.
The other funny thing about big RVs, when you go to a show they always promote that an RV will sleep six people or eight people or even 12 people. While it's true you can actually manage to sleep eight people in a standard RV maybe a few more peoplecan sleep on the floor as well. The problem is after two days all of those people will be enemies and ready to kill each other. Cohabitation sounds great on paper but try sharing a 9' x 32' space with 12 people. Good luck!
could you imagine?? no making faces they'd be asking if you're okay LOL
@@DizzyedUpGirl yeah.... How can anyone have a relaxed poop with their head sticking out the top!!
Awesome pretty hanging plants or maybe a pole in the corner with some plants on it. I love it
$27,000 that is insane!
No denying its high. But you get what you pay for. Just from the video I can see its built nice
+64maxpower
At that price it should be driveable!
64maxpower
Agreed! Do a timeshare with some friends or acquaintances?
Not insane at all. There is a one and a half year waiting period, so it seems like the price could be higher. The market determines the value, of course. Now if it was one-tenth the price, I would go for it... and could at that price.
Wow, that is really pretty nice, I shared that with several people to check out. Thanks for sharing and great tour.
$27,637 I'll buy a full size one for that price
Dude I went to the RV dealer and for 10-14k new price they have tons of options for hard wall travel trailers some with slide outs... Why would people buy this
Right. With a full size bathroom.
Yup, and you will also need a truck and the gas it takes to drive it.
Juniper Dog - If you’re spending 27 grand on one of these I think you can afford the truck and the gas...
@@lee1130fromtwitter yes and those RVs barely make it out of the parking lot before they fall apart.
What makes this unique over others is the windows for sure.. ☺️
14k cheaper than an Airstream Base Camp and i would guess better quality given the current issues with the Base Camp...leaks, axel recall. Seems expensive yes but if you are in the market this actually has good features for the price point.
Wow! Im a claustrophobic guy! But after seeing this,...this is definitely for me and my family! Thanks foe showcasing it!
You're so welcome!
i love all the windows. neat trailer
The whole roof goes up without a sound but the toilet door creaks!
Whoaa! This is amazing. Those windows are awesome!!
can another sleeping area be made where the dinette table is?
Neat... pricey but Neat. If I had the money I would buy it... but it would be perfect for the modern Campers.
I think they really designed it for people who have money but don't want to be in the "standard" trailer and are looking for something besides an Airstream.
Got it... they are kool tho! Hopefully one day I will be able to purchase one.
Dayga Save your money and invest in your own Personal Business and a Social skills course.
And what did you read says a spelling course is needed. . idiot.
thats the coolest teardrop ive ever seen
What about living there in the winter?
like the twin beds. my hubby and i sleep different, and wet bath could work, lovethecwindows, very compact but usable
I have a feeling this thing is way overpriced.
36,000 usd for a new one.
AllAmericanGuy01 I'm not sure.
AllAmericanGuy01 it's an outdoor shower which is pointless if ya need to shower below the belt
Robert Au
you just need a curtain. I've seen folks in populated state parks using their own outdoor shower with like 50-100 strangers walking around.
Dave Rodriguez only 27k
I know what I’m getting for my cross-country trips when I retire!
special effects with the camera make it look much much larger than it really is
Dwight DAYMEN I think it's a fisheye lens
Dwight DAYMEN yes it's a fish eye lens which distorts the edges of the image (curving) while taking in a wider viewing field. It makes the inside look larger than it is. Note they don't use a fisheye outside the trailer.
Dwight DAYMEN I figure he used it so you could see everything more easily; in a camper that small there's a limit to how far you can back up to get everything in frame.
Dwight DAYMEN Duh...
Dwight DAYMEN It's a very wide angle lens.
Great walkthrough! We are looking for something exactly like this. glad I came across your video.
30k?? What a rip off. The mark up in the country is nuts. Prob cost 8k to produce. Price it right and it might make sense.
costs less than that actually
4 years into the future and it looks like a good deal 😂
That is an amazing little trailer! Love to pick one up for me and the wife to tow behind our Nissan Frontier PU when I decide to call it quits at work. Our Nissan is just waiting to go.Got a great deal on a 10 year old PU with only 37,000 miles on it! I can see us towing one of these down the back roads of America!
only sleeps 3? also the lens used is deceiving, making it look bigger than what it actualy is.
WOW...Extremely Clever... A bit pricey but...its not only beautiful but super functional.
They're just selling a novelty. For the money, more desirable units are available for sure!
Sherry Miller
I would have to agree. I picked up a 10 year old 25ft Airstream classic for 25k. But you need a half ton to pull it.
That has a lot more space than I thought. Pretty cool.
very cool far better than any hotel you cant resell a hotel after youve visited it you can this!! youd get a portion of that 27k back after having a good time!!
most hotels in london cost £200 per night some as much as £500 that isnt too many nights in a hotel with full amenities? is it?
this would give you enjoyment for years!!
actually save you money!!
cmon wake up dozey commenters!!
cant even buy a long wheel base 4wd landrover for that!! & go camping wild!!
i camp wild often have never yet paid to use a campsite
and stealth camp thats free you cant beat free!!
Great points David and considering there is over a year waiting list for these, you may even be able to sell it for a profit!
We're the Russos yes there are beginning to be many players now in this pod mkt
or teardrop design mkt i see it as a trend at mo winnebago do a great design also
not extendable roof like this one
but static roofline
but very strong stout caravan
and it has top spec air con and storages
im sort of struck between the nicety of having windows on all sides this is great to immerse yrself in nature
however i dont know much about weatherproofness or thermal ability of its extendable sides?
the traditional winnebago
one sandwich gel coated laminated timber alu frame construction is looking better in a gale storm or blizzard at dealing with that kind of weather
which is more prevalent here
has excellent antenna mast too
and aircraft quality fitout insided full convection oven and fridge freezer full recharge & control panel winnebago are beginning to get into this mkt now also
offering pretty sound strong solid build quality!!
david john Huxtable I'm from NYC I've never been camping ever, I would take this bugger out every weekend if I had it. Absolutely fantastic.
Nice but would need a full shower and a bit expensive!! Thanks for sharing!
Well done video, but I’ll keep my Airstream Basecamp!
We looked at these last year at the show.
There were visible gaps between the walls of the sliding roof and the main body of the trailer I could actually poke my fingers through. That wouldn't appear to make it water tight.
The toilet seems a bit silly. People are sitting down eating, while you're standing beside them taking a leak?
There are plenty of teardrop shaped trailers that have lots of headroom, without a sliding roof - especially at that price range.
Frankly, I think it answers a question no one asked.
But if it works for you, that all that matters.
WOW, LOVE THAT POTTY CHAIR...YOU CAN FREELY WAVE TO ALL THE COMPANY AND CRAP AT THE SAME TIME, "" HEY PASS THE KETCHUP "".
Or the brown sauce and apple juice 😂
Love the inside - light and spacious
Nice but too expensive for what it brings
Look at the Airstream Basecamp trailer. It's in the same price range but has a lot of wasted space. You can't even remove the seats to take advantage of the rear door on the Airstream camper. If I had to pick between the two, I'd get the Safari, hands down.
The seat blocking the Airstream Basecamp rear door is just a cushion on a couple of small boards, and it is definitely removable so that you can come and go through the rear door. I've toured them and adjusted all the seating and tables. At $38k, pretty expensive, but cute for outdoors recreational people.
Wow! I had VW bus campers for years and years and this is awesome! This is nicer than some yachts I have sailed. I will definitely check into these campers, thank you. I really like this. I have a decent Ford van that can haul this.
That is an awesome teardrop!!
Pushed button to raise roof on Tuesday. Roof raised by Wednesday. Still, looks awesome.
Wow $27K seems pretty steep for a camper of this size. I've been to RV shows with similar size models and they were not this expensive.
I agree. Just looking at the amount of aluminum and molded plastic you can tell it's more durable than the cheaper, heavy particle board cabinetry that shakes loose and chips on cheaper campers.
Wow very cool, looked like you shrunk when you walked inside.
:)
Vary innovative for sure but also vary costly...........
:(
Shower is very important, disliked when you poop your partner smells it as they eat breakfast :(
I'll wait for the price to come down, it is nice though!
Chose this unit because of all the windows and the fact that you can choose between twin beds or a queen....those options are just not to be found in a unit this size.
That was going to be my question- instead of twins can you make it a queen bed. So thanks for the answer. How are you liking your trailer? We've been looking at tiny homes and I like this because of how much less weight it would be.
Did you get your unit yet? What are your initial thoughts? I see this was posted a year ago and was wondering how long it took you to get it?
Windows are great! Definitely a warm weather trailer.
that's why they have the four seasons hotel
