Thanks for the upload. Just a heads up for anyone else doing this; If you insert an empty magazine when you remove the decocker spring, the decocker lever bearing on the inside will stay in place. I apologize if this has been mentioned already, I am too lazy to read the other 32 comments. The hammer strut that came with my E2 kit did NOT fit my P228. The OEM strut works with the kit just fine. I guess there are differences in some P228's and P229's, depending on when or maybe where they were made. Once installed, the E2 kit made my old P228 feel like a new pistol!
Could they make a two piece set of grips for this? I don't much care for the one piece texture so much, so I was wondering if you could make the change in the model but put some other kind of two piece grip on there.
Nicely done. Thanks for posting this. I am so well adapted to the 229, it's like a glove on my hand. Guess that comes from staying with one weapon as my EDC. I really like the feel of the E2 grip, but I use Crimson Trace grips so, unless CTC offers a new version, I'm stuck with the original feel. I'll head over to see if they've updated their line. In the spirit of constant improvement, a few suggestions: use a white background to provide a clear and less distracting view, try to hold the scene just a bit longer to relieve our eyes if you slightly move the weapon [impossible not to shake some].
Took off my grips and tried bending them tighter. Reinstalled and made sure it went all the way forward (heard a click). Same shit, gap still there on the right side. Thanks anyways. I'll just live with it:-)
Good vid. You showed an actual upgrade from the old two piece style to the new E2, as opposed to another one I'll not mention that just showed replacing one piece for one piece.
I just installed my E2 grips today. I notice there is a slight gap on the Right side of the grip (opposite the decocker). Was wondering if U experience the same problem.
For those of us who haven't done this before and are trying trying to learn how by watching this video, I can't see how you're taking the decocker spring off, and you don't explain it at all? My E2 grips will be here in less than two days so I'm trying to learn how to do this, any information would be appreciated!
GFO270 I just went for it and it was easy as pie. I had to do it a few times because this E2 grip can be a P-I-T-A, but once it's done it is sure a nice grip. Unfortunately I just didn't like the results I was getting with my P226 .40sw. I'm sure if it was the 9mm I would have had better results as I just don't shoot well with .40sw handguns. I sold it & now I have an M&P 45 compact, and I really like it. I want a new sight for it, either fiber optic or tritium, and an Apex polymer (and eventually the Apex aluminum trigger), and I'll be good to go! I can shoot quite a bit better with the M&P .45 compact than the P226 .40sw. I miss the grip on that gun with the E2 grip + SRT trigger/SRT trigger kit, but I just couldn't get consistent results on target. Shoot on!
Gregor Beals I'm glad you were able to get it worked out but I'm sorry to hear that your accuracy has decreased. I haven't noticed it in mine, but perhaps I should change back and have another go. You're the second person to have mentioned to me that these grips affected them negatively.
Anyone on this thread know if you can take e2 grips off of a factory gun and put it on an older model? I'd like the e2s on my 226 so i can get some bad ass g10s for my 229. It seems like such a waste of a nice grip though... I have some ugly grips on my 226, its more of a workhorse type pistol and that would definitely class it up a lot.
Hello , Great video ! I have two questions for you.though.My p226 Elite Dark lost its accuracy after I installed the E2 grips did you find the same with your pistol? Also do I have to install the stock parts back if I want to use the stock grips? Thanks !
For those about to install the newer E2 grips on their sig, when you go to remove the old decocker, what I did is keep an empty magazine in the gun, that way you can remove the decocker spring and lever and then the part inside the magazine well will stay in place and you don't have to fumble with it AT ALL =)
Thanks, helped me out. Straight and to the point. Like the other guy says keeping the mag in keeps that piece from falling through.
Excellent video!
I suspect every Sig P229 user looking at the E2 upgrade will be interested in this video.
Keep up the great work and be safe!
Thanks for your support!

Nice video, Thanks for showing how to install the E2 Grip conversion kit and grips.

Thanks for talking about the hammer strut feeling like it was in the right place but not. Got my grips from Top Gun Supply too.

Thanks. I was in the fence about getting this kit since everyone selling it said no instructions included

Thanks for the help, that was easy enough, who needs armorers

A trick to keep that piece from falling out is to insert an empty mag
If I swap out the grips, will the newer style mags fit? Not sure if the grips are too small for the redesign or if the entire frame is too small.
Great job on the video!

I'm looking to do the opposite with my 227
I assume thus will also work on M11-A1 too? Part number to order at Top Gun?
It worked with my P228, so it should work perfectly with your M11-A1.
Messed up my trigger bar spring it got bent and wouldn’t go back in properly, had to order a new one :)

I'm not really sure how to explain it for you, but I can almost assure you that you will know how to do it once you see it in person.

Thank you!
DO I HAVE to replace the decocker with the one that came with e2 grip kit? Are decock levers SPECIFIC to different grips?
Awesome thanks. Worked well
how do you remove the e2 grips if you wanna do some major cleaning?
That happened to me a little bit, I just kept pushing it forward until I heard it click.

+Matthew Jones I wish I could help out, but I have not idea! Sorry!
+Matthew Jones I actually picked up a -226 nitron and it CAME with e2s
Yes as long as same model. Example old 229 or new 229. E2 for 229 won’t fit 226
I'm not sure how I feel about the fact they don't screw in.
Thanks for the video, I just subscribed to you.

I didn't lose any accuracy that I can tell. You can install it back to stock if you want to but, yes, you do need to re-install all the factory parts.
Thank you for the info !!
It comes with a tool that you place through the magazine well. It takes some finagling. If it helps I can make a video to show how.

+Gregor Beals that is not a bad idea..but firearm safety ground into me to always release the mag if im going to work on a gun lol
@@GFO270 do you have to use the new decocker?
