Came here after seeing your lovely comment on Treasure Books. I think this is one of the most appealing journals I've seen - simple, but with thought in every detail. I'm a huge fan of Dover books, too! I particularly like that you have written things yourself - I do get a bit weary of the same old "you go, girl" kind of er... let's call it "wordage", that one often sees. Re pricing, the fact that the cover is not leather makes it a vegan journal - so it's a selling point! The journal looks like it would be nice to handle. I'm going to go and subscribe now!
Thank you so much! I hadn't thought of the vegan aspect, yes a good thought. In my Artist Creative Ideas Journal part 1 I mention how I like to think through a purpose or theme for each journal I make, and it's been great having that journal for my own art notes. I love being able to create art that is useful as well as aesthetic. Thank you for subscribing and I hope I continue to offer inspiration for your creativity. Oh, and it IS nice to handle ;-)
2:55 -- "I made a writing board." -- I hadn't heard of these before, but clearly I have been missing out. Brilliant idea! So useful and a great touch to personalize the journal. 🤩✨
Thank you so much! I hope you are also enjoying the current video series about how I made that journal plus new ideas. My husband is a writer/author and has inspired me quite a bit. Cheers!
I love this! It's brown and grungey and fun, especially with all the different things inside including the recipes (what fun - gotta try the coffee!). For people who don't like leather, or vinyl, you can make really convincing faux leather from brown packaging paper. Lots of recipes online!
I love the simplicity of this journal. Still many things to explore, but you won't get overwhelmed with the contents. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the process with us. Your video was a suggestion on my YT page and it was absolutely worth watching it. I've very much enjoyed your upright honesty talking about the pricing of your art. Of course I had to subscribe. 💜
I looked it up on your Etsy shop and what you’re asking for it is reasonable. I myself make journals and I put a lot of work into them many hours many days some of my journals take me two or three weeks to make so dear your price is very reasonable.
Thank you for saying. I appreciate those who know what it takes to be a creator. I love making journals more than writing in them, though I do write quite a bit. I've been a lover of paper crafting my entire life and making journals is so much fun, and I am continually expanding in what I do with them. Do you offer them for sale as well? Cheers!
@@KimVictoria-Artist No Dear . I make them for my daughter and granddaughters.. my son-in-law in in the military and they travel all over the place and my daughter and granddaughters love having them to put pictures and wright about there adventures.
Wonderful video Kim, nicely done! I love the journal it is beautiful. It's a unique one of a kind, and you should ask for whatever that means for you. So many great details and thoughtful additions. xo from here.
Thank you! There has been such a lovely response to this journal that I am planning to make a similar one on video. I appreciate you taking time to comment
Love this journal, and love seeing gentlemen's journals in general. Such a nice change from all the florals and lace (which I also like). Really like the colourway and the aesthetic. Sometimes less is definitely more. Love it!
Thank you! The horse & rider, Don Quixote, rubber stamp I found at a thrift shop. The label reads "Visions of Ink (the company) Sisters, Oregon" sometimes an internet search can turn up such treasures as this, so keep looking. He is a fun stamp.
Yes, vinyl is plastic and can cause skin issues in sensitive persons. Find a thinner, supple leather for this style, I think. Vinyl is something I had given to me. Watch the how to videos for the other masculine theme journal for tips on making the cover, which will work for leather or upholstery fabric as well.
Thank you! I didn't record my process while making this journal because I was experimenting and exploring my stash to find the things I chose to use, and I gave a LOT of time to this one. Having said that, due to the popularity of this video I am thinking of doing a tutorial to make another one. Please share with me if there is any particular aspect of this journal you are most interested in, such as cover construction, or simply all of it. Thank you for asking.
Ah yes indeed. I do have to stop sometimes and ask myself if it will actually be useful. I have a small roll of corrugated cardboard that has become a wonderful texture stamp, so, yeah, fun stuff.
Okay. I don't know if you will like them but I love your idea to share them. I created a listing where they can be downloaded for free. Thank you! You have to go to the "Shop" tab. buymeacoffee.com/KimVictoriaArtist

I learned about writing boards from @TreasureBooks and it really does help. Thanks for your comment and interest.
The writing board was a new idea for me too! 😍

Yay! Thank you! I've seen a couple of those brown paper videos. This style would also work with upholstery fabric, which I plan to do.

Very neat! I need to try one in leather. Sorry, but I really do not like vinyl. It kind of makes my fingers itch. :(

Beautiful. I make writing board too.

I though the same thing about the cutlery envelope, my husband just shakes his head and does not ask why I am keeping them anymore. lol😊
