I visited Italy few times already particularly for our TV show and exploring history in Sicily, Italy, is like a crash course in time travel - one minute, you're admiring ancient ruins, and the next, you're getting lost in a charming cobblestone alley trying to find your gelato supplier from the 18th century! It's an amazing country.
Really gorgeous photos. Especially the contrast white clouds peaks of blue against the earth n stones!! This was fascinating had no idea this was on island of Sicily proving the Greeks started it all. Bravo. Tonight will be a big full moon hope you will watch that moon rise over the Mediterranean SEA. Shud be gorgeous. ❤🌹🌺💐🙏🏻. Enjoy. Be safe. Happy full moon
Man, I am so glad you got there. My husband and I both wondered if you had been there as we walked around in 2021. So amazing!! Now if you're still in Palermo, visit as many churches as possible. They look simple outside, but once you step inside, they are some of the most ornate we have ever seen. Enjoy!!
Siracusa is definitely worth a stop. There's a church there that is basically a converted Roman temple. You can see the columns and the internal structure to this day. I also loved wandering the back streets of Palermo. There's also a gorgeous cathedral near Palermo up on a hill with great golden mosaics built by the Normans called Monreale.
Fascinating coverage, Gabe. Hope you can also explore the incredible baroque architecture of Modica and Ragusa. They are places that stick in your mind for a long time afterwards.
Thanks Gabriel for your interesting tour of Valley of the Temples. Really loved seeing those Ancient Greek temples and ruins in Sicily. You always do such a great job narrating and filming, I always feel like I’m there.❤
Wow beautifull Amazing temples there...those fossils wow that means that high place was under ocean long time ago...maybe when the great flood...Who knows
Love it. Turns out my grreat grandma was Italian. But I went to Greece 40 yrs ago and felt I’d come home before I knew this. Been many times all over. Overwhelming. I’m Scottish.. she married my Scots great grandpa, but her parents may have come with her. Lots of Sardinians came to Scotland in 1890’s. So I think my instincts tell me Her ancestors may have been Greek/Italian mix. Must find out.
My grandparents , parents were from Sicily then moved to Calabria, my last name is Cannizzaro, I have been to Pisa, Italy and Rome but never Sicily, nice to be able to see where they came from, so much history
One of the most amazing churches I have ever seen is the Cappella Palatina in Palermo. Highly recommended! Oh, and as for snacks, I highly recommend also the arancini - delish!
As a Sicilian I am happy that everything went smoothly and you enjoyed everything. clearly Sicily offers many things if you explore it carefully. from Norman castles to the Greeks and prehistory. furthermore the sea is very beautiful especially on the islands. I obviously recommend the Pelagian Islands. lampedusa and linosa
The coin character looks almost like Medusa (the Greek Gorgon) with her snake hair. Medusa is the Symbol of Sicily, or “Trinacria”, as displayed on the Sicilian flag.
Agrigento is where my family is from so cool to see you there I haven’t been there since 1988. Been watching your videos for years keep up the great videos!
Hi Gabriel, that was spectacular and you were right it's a mirror image of both the Acropolis and Parthenon it's a shame they can't re-erect the Zeus Temple. I didn't see the huge Atlas statue that once guarded Sicily's temple of Zeus supposedly it will be re-erected. Of course, Sicily is well known for the Mafia or the black hand many were Sicilian immigrants and there is some history there with a strong relationship with America. I also see the famous Sicilian pizza different from the Neapolitan pizza which is a triangular shape slice the Sicilian slice is a Rectangular to a square shape slice.
It’s not just one village, it’s the high population of centenarians on Sardinia as a whole island. Also some areas in Japan and Nepal where people are living to 100-125. My neighbor from Nepal mentioned many in his old village lived to see 110.
I went there 4 years ago to visit my cousin who live there. My family came to Canada from Sicily many years ago, but I still have some family there. I highly suggest you visit Siragusa/Ortigia (Syracuse in english) which also has a lot of Greek influence. It's all the way to the bottom right side of Sicily though. Taormina is also beautiful, my only gripe is that it's way too touristy. 1 day is more than enough to visit. I also loved Palermo, very gritty and chaotic. You are definitely with locals there, but it's not for everyone. If you want to see beautiful Roman mosaics, villa del casale is also another great option which is near piazza Armerina (central sicily).
A blessed Good sir Gabe Wowwww Sicily Italy Is Full of Rich in This and Treasure A Beautiful place ❤to visit Thank you so much for your wonderful walk around tour video Godbless from the Philippines 🇵🇭🙏🙏♥️😍
Temple of Concordia is considered the best preserved Greek temple, this predates the Roman Republic, or perhaps is equal in age to their birth. Syracuse was a city-state, in the same way that Sparta was, and I believe these two did battle. They likely had numerical superiority but I really don't know..
I’m also living in the town in Scotland where they would have lived, right around the corner. I didn’t know much family history before I bought this property. In fact I didn’t want to live here as I preferred another area, but properties were being snapped up so I settled for this one. Is that a coincidence???
I love that u love milk so much. I’m same and enjoy a cold glass daily still after all these years. If I have a sweet milk a must. Some countries the milk is so hard to drink tho 😅
I’m starting to believe in more unusual things these days because of it! Do you have an attraction to any particular country? And feel connected to it?
Sicily was settled by the ancient Greeks from places like Corinth in the 8th century BC they traded with the local people and built cities and monuments, the whole of Sicily and Southern Italy was called Magna Graecia (Great Greece), the culture was Greek and the monuments you are standing in are testament to the greatest civilization that ever was!, Rome was a village at the time!.: Enjoy.
If those are cart ruts wouldn't the horses pulling the carts ware down the center before the cart wheels would make the ruts? I live in an Amish community and most of the roads have a small rut on the side but its from all the horse hooves not the wheels. But maybe they didn't use horses or any animal to pull the carts.
Good morning to you ! 9:44 a.m. here in Dallas , 82° but going up to 96° today ... yuck , I don't like hot weather . Seems like it was a full moon only two weeks ago but I know that's not accurate . Enjoy your day
Great video again !😀 Come to Western Balkan countries you are very close ! They are not in the Shengen zone and it is much cheaper to travel ! The best option for Western Balkan countries is the flight from Catania, Sicily to Tirana, Albania with Wizz Air, very cheap ! 😀😀😀❤
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Gabriel I don't think those were regular cart ruts that you pointed out ... either they had carts that would go up and down in there to carry things back and forth regularly sliding back and forth to deliver something ... like maybe want to pulley system or my guess is it was some kind of irrigation system ? ... or maybe even had plumbing in it but those pipes no longer are there but perhaps there two pipes , one on each side ? We know that some of the wealthy had plumbing in the ancient Roman Empire back in those days . Didn't they have any employees there or guides who could answer some questions ? I thought that statue laying on its side was old until you said it's probably modern and yeah I would have liked to have known what the story is about that . Thanks for taking us there with you and the food looks great .
When are you going to show all the trash lying everywhere? The central motorway reservations were overflowing with trash that was lying rotting in the sun! Also bags of trash lying everywhere in the big cities! Come on, show it as it is!
The cloudy sky gives the temples the right mood and thanks to the lighting conditions the photos are even better. The magic of the moment!
Gratitude for showing the unseen.

I was stationed in Sicily and loved everything about it!
Tons of WW2 history there too, Nazi bunkers everywhere still and the cemeteries were interesting as well.
Sicily's beauty in this video is simply mesmerizing - a true visual delight. It's a heartfelt appreciation for capturing this Mediterranean paradise!
Very interesting and informative! Good work! Italians preserve Greek ruins well.
Looks to be an amazing Island.

This looks like even better than Greece itself. :) Very nice scenery with very nice temples, also well preserved.
There are still villages with kind of greek language speakers, came from this 800 B.C. Incredible..

A great video of The Valley of The Temples. Thankyou. You may have lived a past life in that era, hence your great interest in ancient ruins 😊

When you go to Sardinia Gabriel you can visit a village there where people live longest in the whole world.

That dinner looked really good. I have not eaten kale salad for a long time.
Wise decision.
Steamed spinach with butter, much better than kale.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos yes, I forgot the word for a sec
Such an amazing experience, thank you for sharing with us!
Wonderful video! You do great work.
Is it possible the sea floor was pushed up during an eruption of Mt Etna rather than the whole sea rising? Fascinating vlog.
No idea, Mt. Etna is a ways away but perhaps it's possible, or else for other reasons the ground rose.
Absolutely enjoyed your vlog of the amazing temples in Agrigento. Thanks Gabriel!
I think the people of antiquity would be amazed at how society appreciates what they built - even if today its only ruins.
You can also watch the 2nd season of The White Lotus and then visit its stunning filming location at Taormina. Pure awesomeness.
Really interesting place 😎looks beautiful 😁Thanks for sharing and take care 😁👍✌

Have you considered getting your Italian citizenship? You wouldnt have to worry about the 90 day limit in the European zone. I'm getting mine
If you go to Taormina, there is a hostel nearby called Gianni House.
Come to Montenegro and visit the Ostrog Monastery and the brand new Kotor cable car near Tivat Airport ! 😀❤
We need a cable car directly from Tivat airport to top of Kotor Fortress. Put in a good word for us with the local government 😂 to avoid traffic 😂
I would love you to travel to North Africa …

Mongolia, Bolivia, Namibia and Greenland (not exactly a country).

Solid point.
Or maybe they used pairs of horses side by side, thus waring down the ground in line with the wheels of the cart.
