Dani the singer/lyricist is very gifted artist. I know there are many people who dislike his singing style but he's an amazing story teller. And for someone who's new to Cradle of Filth is kinda hard to understand what he's saying if you listen to a certain song just once, you need to take your time and listen over and over. This song and the whole " Cruelty and the Beast " album speaks about Elizabeth Bathory a Hungarian countess who killed many young girl and bathed in their blood because she believed that by doing that she will gain eternal beauty.Like i said Dani's vocals might not be for everyone but you can't deny his writing skills,in my opinion he's the best poet in the whole Metal genre.
That's what I got...it's too lyrically, um, intense and poetic...the mythic metaphors alone can beget confusion...but Dani Filth is a fucking poetic master of the dark and macabre!!!
Cradle of Filth is a name given to the band for all the dirt (or filth) inside the Catholic Church which has proven to be a visionary name. And by the way, the song is about Elisabeth Bathory who is considered to be the first female mass murderer of all times, so it's a true story and the way the vocalist writes the story is just worth the best gothic literature ever. This song needs brains both for the lyrics and the music, it's complex.
I've always found that with music, first you gotta hear it, then you can read along on your second listen. Especially if you're exposing someone to something like Cradle of Filth and they aren't comfortable with metal music. Takes a while to develop the ear to understand the growls and such.
Try "Her Ghost in the Fog". It is generally the more well-known of the music videos and you can watch the music video to learn the story, but also appreciate the band's aesthetic and musicianship. Technically they are black metal, but more specifically with how mainstream their music tends to be, they get classified as "extreme metal". I personally like "From the Cradle to Enslave". Careful, if you get the ass n titties version you will have more editing to do. Also another similar band but from Taiwan is Chthonic, if you are interested then my personal favorite is "Supreme Pain for the Tyrant". I can't talk about that song without listening to it after.
I'm sorry but your friend with the red cap is very annoying. He is in this video but his mind is on whatever thing but this song. By the way, this band is not Death metal, It's mor like extreme metal.
If you like this stuff and want it take a step further, check out Behemoth - O father, o satan, o sun. The clip is an artistic masterpiece and full of powerful scenes for those, who understand them.
Behemoth are on a whole nother level than their peers! Brutal, (anti)spiritual, Satanic, and musical masters from Inferno's blistering speed with artistic pattern designs on them skins and Nergal's lyrics and guitar riffing along with the superior artistry of Orions grooving bass lines....motherfucker!!! I fucking love what I call their tryptic trio of Evangelion, The Satanist and I Loved You At Your Darkest...epic!!! As good if not better realized as a trilogy than Marilyn Manson's Trio of Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, and Holywood (In The Valley of the Shadow of Death)...yeah yeah yeah...different genres, sure but both passionate, heavy, aggressive and poignant musical masterpieces in their own right!!!
They are not that complicated, the most complicated part of they lyrics are the references he does to the classics, if you didnt read the greek classics, then you lose all those. There are a couple of weird words here andx there but you can simply translate them..
Fred Durst isn't smart enough to be listening to this. If you're going to not give it a shot from the start, not look for anything you like in it, not even offer criticism, and write off a band for one song you shouldn't be doing this. Cradle is my favorite band and even they have a few songs I dont like, imagine if I heard one I didn't like first and wrote them off.
Fred durst looks like he don't wanna be there. He just wanna keep rollin rollin rollin.
Lol my thoughts exactly
He kept rollin rollin rollin his eyes away from the screen. Some people just ain't cut for the heavier non-pop music that's out there.

Nergal from Behemoth is at least equal!!!
It was easy to tell Fred Durst was a rap fan. Had all the attention span and close-mindedness of one.
My man can't understand so he doesn't bother reading along lol

The story of Elizabeth Bathory is fascinating,,,,,your partner looked like he didn't care to even give it a chance as soon as the song started
COF can only be appreciated if your IQ consists at least of 3 digits
Great album

There should be a metal sub genre named Epic Metal , and COF should be the only group in it.
Redcap likes rap crap. This is too intense.

I can understand a normal conversation in english but this lyric is insanely difficult to understand for a non native english speaker.
