I LOVE that you said that doodling and drawing help you to concentrate. That is absolutely me. I get soooo distracted if I just sit there trying to listen, but if I can draw while someone is talking/preaching/lecturing, I can stay SOOOO focused on what they are saying.
You are so inspiring. I am an 84 year old great grandma who just started watercoloring. Do you have zoom classes. Thanks for sharing your talent with me. I am a little slow but hopefully I can start.
I am 82 and just stared. For years, I did all sorts of crafts, like crochet hand, embroidery counted, cross, stitch, jewelry, making card, making, etc. Well, I got tired of all of it and although I can’t even draw a stick figure are found that with watercolors it’s very forgiving and there’s so many great RUclips’s out there including this one. I’m glad at my age I’m not alone. Most people start a lot younger.
I just found your site yesterday and love your style. It has me wanting to pull out my paper and watercolors. I still work nearly 40 hours a week, at the age of 72. Thank you so much for sharing your talent. I am changing a bedroom into an art room. Again thank you for sharing your talent. God Bless. From SE Arizona😊
Luann from Lexington, Kentucky , I recently found you on You Tube and am new to watercolors,I really enjoy your teaching style,! Thanks so much for sharing your talents❤
This was so much fun!! I painted this yesterday with my new QOR paints and it was a joy --- I am very new to watercolor started with Derwent inktense blocks for painting on fabric for my quilting and slow stitching in January and it was so much fun I decided to try on paper and have subscribed to your channel and you have truly taught me so much?? It is so very relaxing to play with watercolor and the results are always amazing!!!
I'm a pen and ink artist and would like to try adding watercolor to my sketches. Your technique would work great for any of my work. What grade of paper do you recommend or use for your watercolors? I would have to buy a heavier paper than what I usually use. Your painting is gorgeous.✒🐱
Thank you so much for watching. I would recommended 140lb (300gsm) weight paper. You may want to try a sheet of cold press and a sheet of hot press to see which finish you like better. Hot press paper has a much smoother finish which is better for ink. Cold pressed paper has a rougher texture, not as good for ink, but I prefer it for painting on. I hope that helps. Happy learning.
