- Blue Realm - Episode 12: Giants of San Benedicto
Giants of San Benedicto features Dr. Robert Rubin and his ground-breaking research of giant Mantas. You'll travel to the remote Socorro Islands off Mexico's Pacific coast and see breath-taking encounters with enormous manta rays.
You're sure to love these majestic giants as you see how they invite human contact, and encourage certain divers to ride them. The film crew also travels to the Bahamas to visit 'Bubbles', a fifteen foot Manta in the worlds largest aquarium, and witness her release back into the ocean.

Mantas are a gorgeous example of the diversity of life in the oceans & how every creature is special in its own way.
One of the most graceful and beautiful creatures of the oceans. Thank you for all that you do to keep these wonderful creatures alive for future generations to admire and care for. ❤
We hope to protect these extraordinaries marine cratures from poachers, overfishing and maintain clean the waters from our oceans, because these are the habitats for manta rays, sharks and other species. 🦈🦈 Thanks for sharing this amazing documentary of our ecosystem. 🦈🦈🌊
These things literally check themselves out in the mirror, they are so smart definatly my favorite ocean animal.
Any creature that recognizes itself in a mirror is primare intelligent. Manta Rays are a stunning example of the amazing & diverse life on our planet!!! Great video!!!
No need for the wretched music. Nature alone is more than enough.
Right! All the techno was too much, then they even had some strobe light segments! I love music and understand they were trying to make it exciting, but it didn't work right. Very beautiful cinematography!
Misophonia
Yeah I'm out!
Agree. Music awful.
I love how Robert has so much admiration for da Nature. it be really beautiful to see others expressing their joy for some Nature
That eye evidence is amazing!
ty so much having such a variety of documentaries on your channel! it is really a hidden goldmine! i loved this documentary so much💙
I love manta rays!!!!💙💙💙💙💙
I went scuba diving off an island around Belieze and saw a manta ray. Theyre incredible. Theyre huge and swim so gracefully ❤
This is an awesome documentary, I'm fascinated by Manta Rays. On a side note, I think at 11:06-ish I saw the man in the green shorts display more than his photography skills, I think I saw his left nugget 😆 🤣 I could be wrong, but it really looked like it lol
Gee Lauren that was the shorts underlining,if you want to see a man's eggs go on the other sites,it is there for your eye's delight...
@@dmax628 lol, but it did kinda look like it.
@@LaurenJourney hahahahh omg

Actually, that would be his right one, if it was, as his left arm was the furthest away ...
Beautiful i never heard of this manta thank you for the history
Amazing video.🎉
Beautiful or even majestic animal ❤️
1 of my most favorite water animals of all time as always, they're swim talented a lot a lot, they really really rock. Ooh lah! I love it ah 💙🌊💙🌅💙🏞️💙
Wow, by our eyes…. Fascinating
"Eyes are the window to the soul " 🌌💜
Beautiful!
Thank you for all you do, Dr.Rubin!!!
Fun and interesting documentary... beautiful animals'
The greatest gift=freedom.
yep
srs muchas gracias por este documental ok son muy bellos y atractivos ok felicitaciones
magnificent, Gods creation!
Surprised atheists aren't ripping this comment apart. Regardless what you believe, Mantas are indeed amazing creatures. Love their patterns, and spots.
@@beauwalker9820 they should be because why bring religion into this like stfu
Very professional and scientific documentary. Dr Ruin and the gracious rays should definitely be supported. Bless you!
Scientists should stop telling everyone where the animals are in these videos.
Every time I try to watch a video about our oceans' animals I am forced to learn that the animals are under siege & it's heartbreaking!!! Much more needs to be & must be done to preserve the creatures in our oceans & seas!!!
It is a brilliant video! I really like it!!!!! It has colorful pictures and music!!!
I thought the first rule was 'Hands Off'!
I believe that is in United States waters.
There's also a difference between a handful of researchers going out once or twice a year to visit the same area and a few of the same mantas, and a tourist destination where the same mantas would be mobbed daily by strangers who know nothing about them. It looked to me like one particular manta was having the "touchy-feeley" interactions letting the diver ride it and collect mucus from its back.
Watch a few more documentaries - if the manta doesn't want to interact with the divers it can easily get away.
First thing you are taught in your open water coarse, that and don't hold your breathe
Master chief, mind telling me what your doing in that documentary?
Is this really Steve downes?
@@bikemurke6006 no clue, but sure sounds like him 😄
Rays Rule !
You know iam all for it when it comes to find new ways to help with scientific research as long as the host is not put in to any danger example the mucous the mantra rays have
Continue.. lol (mantas and mucus) anyway these animals have the ability to have wound repairs that eventually can help humans in the future
Ocean Documentry narrated by Master cheif himself 💯💯💯💯
Iv ben fisherman for enjoyment for ever and sense ive ben watching thease documentaries of what its like under the waves makes me descusted with fishing i never did much ocean fishing but if i was to move next to ocean it trade my wet suite for wetsuit and snorkle. Alot of the big fish in ocean are amazing and they have personalities seeing big anamals asking diver to remove hooks even most sharks are just peicfull
While staying in Cabo we could watch the sting rays & eagle rays chase fish into shallow waters at night so they could more easily catch them. It seems a lot of other ray species are also intelligent.
I wondered how long the mantas ray live in the wild? this is a sufficient creature in the ocean swimming slowly in the ocean with their mouth open and feeding only plankton it looks so beautiful and relaxes even when it feeding and allowed small fish attach along free meal free ride !!!
your not suppose to touch them, it messes them up in a very bad way.
No words can descibe it ! Thanks ! Play Beethoven !
Very nice video but music too loud
There's almost no video about animals in the ocean we can watch today without finding out the creatures are endangered due to human greed & irresponsible practices. After awhile it gets depressing to watch a video about any wildlife.
It's a pretty good documentary but as many others have pointed out, the horrible music parts really ruin it.
Adoro este tipo de animais, são uns gigantes gentis, se as pessoas colaborarem e os governos também deixam de ser uma espécie ameaçada, obrigado pela partilha deste e de outros vídeos excelentes, abraço forte de 🇵🇹👍.
Thankful for footage, but the music ruins it :( I want to listen to narrator but just can’t do it
I feel like the same people who made Fear Factor made this too.
Thats steve downes voice by the way, voice of master chief
Mantas are so beautiful but the music they chose is so ugly.
SET ROSE FREE! SET ROSE FREE! SET ROSE FREE! SET ROSE FREE! SET ROSE FREE! SET ROSE FREE! SET ROSE FREE! SET ROSE FREE! SET ROSE FREE! SET ROSE FREE!
@38 No companion for Rose the Manta ?? 😢 that’s not fair to capture it and take her away from her family - sucks
Master Chief.... ?
Damnedable so called music is too loud. Can hardly hear what the narrator's sayong
l.
@16:22 can these acoustic tags affect other fish, dolphins, whales, etc?? I bet they don't know or really care.
What's with all the unnecessary video effects?? They're nothing but distracting. It's a DOCUMENTARY, guys - not a music video, FFS.
@1:48 can't stand the music any more.
LOL
Scientists always quick to say millions of years ago... they need to stop deceiving people. God created all things and nothing came by evolution. Let us focus on Jesus and his return and stop depending on man and their evil teachings🙏🏾
Why did they add squishy noises when the lady was examining the Ray parts 🤢
The music is awful...so is the speeding up of shark footage... awful
Great video except for the dope ads!
Try skipping to the end of the video, last few seconds, let it play out, then drag the sliders back to the beginning, normally gets rid of the adverts as it thinks you already watched them :)
wow how sad this dude is trying to figure out how to exploit these animals for skincare, did not look like a Miskito bite looked like it hurt!
It looks like more of a surprise reaction. The first couple they tagged or biopsied were like "Yeah, whatever, I'm filter-feeding, see ya later." The one that bolted might be younger and/or more of the Nervous Nellie of the population.
Okay I'm off for learning about Majestic animals but what I do not approve of the fact that you have to actually hurt them and order to do so no animal or being should be tagged to learn their ways it should be just enough to be able to get into the water and see
I bet you care more about a ant than your fellow human. You disgust me
@@famousbowl9926 you are late i posted 7 months ago get a life dummy and learn something
Music totally turned it ! Shame
is that the master chief at 19:45
Your videos are magic. The music is truly awful.
So ... “ free documentary “... yet plastered full of as many ads as possible. 🙄
Kri MD can you go to my channel? It’s a nonprofit channel and it’s for nature.
ruclips.net/video/-em7-Oka5PE/видео.html
If the adverts bother you, skip to the last 30 seconds of the video, let it play out, and then slide the bar at the bottom back to the beginning. Normally gets rid of the adverts :)
You want to learn about the creatures we two footed s share the world with- then study them in their natural habitat s,DONT STEAL / KIDNAP THEM !!!🤬😡🤬😡
GLORY TO GOD!
What god
the One and only GOD....
that made All these animals,Oceans,
Humans EVERYTHING !!!!!!!
Really No need for music at all. Just the sound of the ocean and it's life would be sufficient enough
They seem to be about as smart as horses
Please never use this music track again.
Music Sux
Are you kidding me? Why the distracting music? Is this Science or your Art project? No thanks.
their "oversized brains" lmao kinda jealous
How can tehy be warm blooded AND a shark? Doesn't that go against everything they once taught us? Fish are cold blooded, well ectotherms.
BLOATED GOAT
I'M SIX MINUTES INTO THIS OTHERWISE INTERESTING SUBJECT BUT I FIND IT UNWATCHABLE. WHY? BACKGROUND MUSIC IS TOO LOUD AND THE DISTRACTING, TOO MANY ADS AND THREE INTRODUCTIONS TO THE SUBJECT. GOODBYE FOREVER, DUMMIES!!
