    Coach Nick breaks down the second half of last night's Spurs vs Thunder game, and while Westbrook had a number of good plays, he nullified that by consistently making the wrong decision on both offense and defense.
    His defense in particular on the weakside makes him a liability, and against good players like Tony Parker, Westbrook becomes almost singlehandedly responsible for the loss.

      +Joseph Wheeler: Westbrook's assists per game definitely increased since 2013. But the final gauge of a PG's value is his effectivity in helping his team. Did OKC winning % and chances during the playoffs increase in that time span? NO. And plays like the ones in this video still happened in the 2015-16 season. Nine years was enough for Durant to have waited for Westbrook to mature. I would've bolted after three years.

      That 18 months wouldn't be depressing if we don't have AD and Bron. But that's a past and here I am, always looking forward to every Lakers game like pre Westbrick trade.

      That awkward moment where you're so quick to prove someone wrong that you actually make yourself look stupid.
      1) we're talking about Russell Westbrook being a championship point gaurd, yet you bring up KD, who unlike Westbrook is playing his correct position
      2) Scott Brooks system, if you can call it one, basically is one v one offense, with KD playing in the perimeter as a jump shooter most of the time. To make matters worse Westbrook shoots MORE than KD....what?!
      Bottom line you can't win chips with Westbrook at point gaurd.

    • @georgeolumba7843
      @georgeolumba7843 10 лет назад +1

      DopeDiamondz KD lost that game on his own, scoring champ should be able to close that out. Like how is falling on the ball playing the correct position?
      The thunder have 3 capable scorers (if Ibaka's right) and the rest aside Reggie Jackson are below average role players. If Westbrook was a traditional PG, they wouldn't win games, especially with Perkins, Collison, Thabo giving you NO scoring. with or without Westbrook on the floor. You can't have any type of good system without good players which is why the Lakers don't run triangle anymore and the Suns don't run SSOL.

    • @vinniechan
      @vinniechan 10 лет назад

      George Olumba
      U have a point but the fact remains the Thunders have grown used to relying on KD and Westbrook. Steve Adams is another capable player and is under ultilised. Look someone is good enough to get paid to play in NBA he is a capable basketballer, just find ways to make the most of out the players.

    This video was made nearly 4 years ago and Russ is still doing the SAME EXACT THING IN 2016! People were so enthralled by the triple doubles and use that a some sort of rebuttal whenever you point out the obvious. Whether its the full steam ahead drives into the lane with no numbers. The multiple and often consecutive shot no pass possessions. The gambling on D and then yelling at a teammate when its his man getting the bucket. I could go on and on. What is even more frustrating is the amount of times he looks off KD just so he can get the glory play in. It's selfishness on full display. Look off Dion Waiters, ok, KD??? The learning curve is over, and its obvious now that in his mind he has to be the reason they win. His lack of basketball IQ, selfishness, with no repercussions from the coaching staff equals KD to San Antonio or GS.

    you're right. and what coach nick is saying isn't that they don't need him, it's that his skills aren't suited to being a point guard. in fact, in one of his videos(i can't remember which one) he says westbrook should move to the shooting guard spot. his main value to them comes as a scorer, and the thunder got hurt in these playoffs because they didn't have a secondary scorer to take some pressure off durant. so you're right about them needing him, but it doesn't make him a good point guard.

      Robert ルナ Iverson was a ball hog, but in his defense he didn't have a top 5 player to pass the ball to. Westbrook wants to be the man so much that it sometimes hurts the team's flow. It should be him and Durant leading the way, not him vs Durant.

    You must not have watched the full video. Coach Nick even said multiple times that Russell was going out of control to the basket, wrong footed, etc., which results in him not finding his teammates. Coach Nick also admitted that Russell is a very good on ball defender, and shouldn't be losing his man on cuts, etc. and he points out multiple times that it's his decision making that costs the thunder games.

    Tony Parker is averaging 7.3 assists this season.. 5.9 career and Steve Nash avg is about 3 turnovers in his career. I wouldn't get too hyped up over those numbers. And a number that really matters is the fact that he has never missed a game.. not even in college. Russ is a great player thats still improving & with the contract extensions KD & RW signed.. these guys will be the strongest 1-2 punch in the league for a very long time.

    Rose knows what he's doing. He can always find the open man, but when he has a GOOD look, he'll take it. Rose has an amazing floater and mad handles as well, and while its true that they can both score very well, D-Rose actually is in control and can play the point.

    That's why there are 'positions' in basketball. No matter what type of teamwork a coach preaches, if he doesn't have the right personnel to fill in the spots, the team will lose.
    Not everyone can be centres, guards or forwards. Not everyone can handle the ball and set up teammates. Not everyone can shoot.
    Teamwork is not just about passing and defending. Don't get me wrong because those things are also important. What I'm saying is that teamwork is also about doing your role right.

    Dude Russel Westbrook is a good point guard and a great player. He's one of main the reason why the Thunder went to the finals last year. He just needs to be smarter with the ball because we all know that he always tryna be the super hero or whatever y'all call that. Basically he just needs to mature.
