- Ann demonstrates 5 ways to use darting on pottery to create more complex forms. If you listen closely, you can hear thunder in the background. This was obviously the Gods of Pottery expressing their approval for the creation of such a video. Its also a great relaxing video to watch!
If you would like to learn Ann's underglaze painting, glazing, and decorating process then check out Ann's Video Workshop Series. These workshops are very detailed (typically 1.5 - 2 hours in length) where Ann provides step by step instruction and are designed to help potters take their work to new levels of craftsmanship and artistry. vimeo.com/show...

GREAT IDEAS!!! I'm going to start darting❣🤣 THANK YOU!!!
I love how slow and detailed your videos are. I also appreciate that your camera angles are a normal view and your comments are clear. ❤️🥰
Thanks so much Terri. Jim is the genius behind the camera and the editing, he will appreciate your comments!! I appreciate you watching!
Wonderful videos
@@karinamattei4691 Thanks Karina! I appreciate you watching
I would like to see a video about the dart on one side- becoming a pitcher. Thank you! Love your videos!
Great suggestion!
I love these idea videos with 'show and tell'. I am a visual person and it helps me to 'get' what is going on so much better. (probably helping with getting older too.). Thank you so much.
Hi,I am Irene, from Argentina,I love all your work ,your way of teaching and your wonderful ideas. Thanks a lot
I would LOVE to see a video on the complete pitcher from the first example. 🤗
Noted!
Such a lovely video, thank you. (I'm a ceramics teacher at a college).
Wonderful!
Would love to see a video on the pitcher with darts too 😁. Thanks for your great explanation on all your lovely videos
Hi! Thanks for watching. I am impressed that you picked up on that in the video...about the darted pitcher, haha. I will definitely put that in the cue for video ideas. Have fun in the studio!
I like your videos, thank you. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a delight to discover new to me videos you’ve made, Ann! You are an amazing teacher and potter!❤❤
Thank you for yet another detailed video, lots of possibilities with this technique. I'd love you to show us how you made that lovely jug.
Hi Jan. thanks for watching and I am impressed that you heard that part of the video. I will put that idea into the cue! thanks so much!!
Ann thank you for sharing your wonderful talented inspirational designs!
I love all your videos! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I vote yes on a pitcher tutorial.
Love these dart ideas. Do you ever bevel your cuts? Your straight cuts seem easier, but the bevels don't seem to need a coil reinforcement. Curious. Also, you mentioned a potential future video to demonstrate the pitcher??? YES!! That would be awesome. Thank you.
Hi Tricia. I have seen the bevel that you are talking about but it is very difficult to do especially on curved surfaces. Also I think if I did bevel the surface I would still add a coil as my clay is so finicky. Thanks for the feedback about the pitcher. I wasnt sure if anyone would pick up on that in the video but I had a few others request it too. Have fun in the studio!
Awesome! I never heard or seen of this technique before. Thanks so much!
Im glad that you found the video then. I hope it can be inspirational to you. Have fun!!!
i’m a new potter, i wish i had seen this video before my first darting project! next time, i’ll use a template!
Hi! Yes, the templates really help especially when you are cutting multiple cuts. Im glad the video can be of help :-)
Thank you again for one more enlightening video. I'd love to see how you made the jug.
Aww...Thank you for watching Linda and I appreciate the request for the jug. I will have to add that idea to our list of future videos. Have fun in the studio!
WOW. Just WOW! Love it all and cannot wait to try it myself.
Amazing Darts!😊

Thank you! 😃
Wonderful! 👍🏼👍🏼
Hey Scoob....thanks so much for watching!
Hi Ann! I've just discovered your RUclips channel and I am so so grateful. I will definitely be buying you coffees! I'm trying darting and have discovered that the rim is horribly misshapen. But how to put it back on the wheel if both the bottom and the top are uneven? Is the answer not to cut it off the bat after throwing?
If I understand our question, yes, I work on it while still attached to the bat. (or sometimes reattaching and using lugs) And of course you want to be cognizant of how hard the clay is...too soft and it is harder to maintain the roundness. I also dont get too hung up on having perfectly round pieces...I embrace the organic nature of the clay! Good luck - let me know how its progressing.
Obrigado pela partilha! Muito útil...

You mention 'lesat amount of DNA on your piece' what do you mean by this?
Hi Charly. Good question. I just think that the least amount of touching, fingering, tweaking, squishing etc (DNA from all the touching) is the best way to keep your work pristine, and fresh...... and not overworked. :-)
Can you share how you made the pouring pitcher using darts?
Hi Tammy...we will put it on the menu for a future video....still have some refinement to do in the process, thanks for watching!
🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍
B mix? Grog?
Hi Jackie. I used Standard brand English Porcelain #365. Definitely no grog,
@@annruel9142 I've not tried that but it looks really nice to work with..I'm using B mix no grog.. but I'll have to give this a try
@@jackiemorrison6024 I have heard good things about that B mix. Im thinking that the two clays probably behave similarly. I will tell you the #365 is a bit of a diva clay and takes a little bit to get used to. I have a love, hate relationship with it, haha.
@@annruel9142 maybe I'll wait a bit then. I'm a fairly new Potter, it's hard enough still without having a cranky clay body..lol.
Take care and keep making videos, I love them!!
@@jackiemorrison6024 that is probably a wise decision. Although it is perfect for the custom painted pottery that I make, it really can be a pain in the neck to get used to and still gives me fits, haha.
DNA?
Keep your fingerprints to a minimum! :)
looks like porcelain, tricky
