    It took me many years to realize the importance of this type of bowing in Bluegrass and old-time fiddle music. Thanks

    Wow! This is fun. I can hear what you are doing, so I stop the video, duplicate the sound with my bow, then go back to playing along. First, I have to slow it down and hear it in my head without a faster version to play along with. But once I get each pattern, I can play it up to speed with you.

    Thank you! That was quite a workout! Question, my bow arm is all up high playing the G & D strings, but your bow arm looks much more relaxed and closer to your body. Am I doing it wrong?

    Love this! I'm curious if you have a video with this backing track only? It's been awesome to assign my student to practice along with you for the play along, and to try it out on their own with the videos that just have the backing track. Thanks so much!

    Thank you SO much for all of your videos. This has been such a fun way to bring music to our lives. Do you have an easier version of blue grass styles for novices that breaks it down a little slower? I have a young student who likes to play “cowboy music,” but he was overwhelmed by this video and found it a little too difficult. We had fun listening anyway, but couldn’t follow along. Thank you again!

    • @ChristianHowesViolin
      @ChristianHowesViolin  3 года назад +1

      Hi Katie- yes I have many videos classified as “easiest” even including some with just open strings. You can find the playlists at this channel or We have a playlist Directory available to make it easier to search which is at my website christianhowes.com in the free resources section. It’s available on a donation basis ($1 or any amount). Also feel free to email me chris@christianhowes.com I definitely have some really easy bluegrass themed ones.

    Hi Chris, how is it when you play on G your elbow is completely lowered. My elbow sticks up to my side. If I lower it I can't reach the G string

    • @ChristianHowesViolin
      @ChristianHowesViolin  4 года назад +2

      best practice is probably to raise your elbow. It may be a camera angle illusion or maybe I was just being lazy:) My teacher always taught me that the two parts of the right arm should be in the same plane as the stick of the bow. So the elbow raises when on the lower strings.

    this is fun, but as a musician, I would call this maybe an adv. beginner.. maybe you could explain what you're doing with your right hand since its not in the screen. I have trouble getting sound at the top of the bow
