I think people are overreacting to Bedards production this year, sure he’s in a slump right now, but he hasn’t been horrible overall this season. Give the kid a break, not only have teams had the chance to study how to defend against him but he’s also the only guy other teams really have to worry about so yeah he’s gonna be the main focus to shutdown and even get double teamed, I’m sure we will see michkov slow down a bit soon too when he’s the main guy teams are shutting down, and bedard will figure it out.
Bedard has more of a “style” than Michkov. It’s easier to study on tape. Michkov might not be more talented but he shines along the boards, down low, high slot, he’s harder to read.
Bedards biggest issue is that he doesn’t play in the gritty parts of the ice. He isn’t winning the board battles, he isn’t winning the corner scrums. He relies on his skill, but skill can only take you so far if you can’t get the puck.
Would you agree Bedard is about same style player as Jack Hughes? Give this kid a break, chicago sucks and its quite difficult to carry nhl team solo as 20 year old in nhl.

Mitchkov has always been the highest offensive potential after Bedard. He's playing on a much better team also. That said don't be surprised if Bedard has more points at the end of the season.

Flyers have potatoes who can’t finish prime Michkov setup. Michkov should honestly have at least a handful more points. The centers on the Flyers might be the worst in the NHL.
As a Flyers fan I was excited for Michkov because I knew he was on par talent wise to Bedard Michkov could have went #1 overall aside from the russian factor his RW position and size dinged him a bit but the talent was always evident. A lot of scouts at the beginning of their draft year had it being a coin flip between Bedard and Michkov going #1 overall and at times Michkov was favored to go #1. Both are gonna be great players. Its the teams between 2 and 6 who didn't draft Michkov that are going to regret it specifically Montreal. Reinbacher is nothing more then an oversized middle pair defensemen at best. Dadonov isn't as skilled as Michkov. Michkov has a better shot and ice sense.
Michkov hasn't been benched or scratched for any other reason than John Tortorella loves to bench young players. Michkov is the most potent offensive player on the team but has no support with him. He makes clear easy tap in chances for other players but the Flyers are not his level. Especially earlier in the season, in the first couple games alone he set up 3 or 4 empty net chances that everyone whiffed on.

At only 19 Michkov already knows he's got to be a killer on the ice and off the ice. He's had it tough in Russia, his father was killed and he's in Philadelphia starting a whole new life where no one but a few speaks Russian. Bedard's pretty much has it a bit easier lifestyle wise than Michkov. Maybe Bedard thought that this game of NHL Hockey was gonna come a bit easier to him. Michkov has had to scratch and claw his way to the NHL and he sticks up for himself on the ice. Michkov scored 2 OT GWG this week alone and is looking every bit the part Bedard should be at this point. If you offered me Bedard for Michkov RIGHT NOW, I'd tell you to go pound sand. Because RIGHT NOW Michkov is the better player. Has a much more complete game than Bedard. "You have to be Cold Blooded"- he said that today after his OT winner in an interview after the game. Bedard is a great hockey player. But he's been pegged as a generational talent and drew comaprisons to McDavid and the like when he has come nowhere close to earning it, and has no business being compared to with them. A good hockey player, yes. But way over-hyped and overrated. There have been plenty of good players on bad teams who can still produce.

To me bedard has to play the boards better I don't actually really like in the centre...I see him more of a parin type of player than someone that can play make and has great shot but is a winger he's like Adam Oates but better shot tbh.. What Connor needs is a centre like backstrom was, with a bit better defensive game/ speed. I think bedard is overrated he's not generational I think he's going to be good but he's not going to be that good. I think his cousin Gavin in western hockey league might be a better player then him 20 years down the road when all said and done but neither are going to be Patrick Kane level generational...

let's call a spade a spade here. Bedard has been vastly disappointing thus far this season. For someone coming out of the 2023 draft as generational, he just has not met expectations thus far. He's quite frankly been underwhelming s and you can only blame his supporting cast to a certain extent. Eventually, he has to produce, and he is not even coming close to a ppg so far.
He's too young and the criticisms, while not unexpected, are too premature. Who knows how Bedard and Michkov could turn out at their age. They had the same debate about Ovechkin and Crosby way back in the day when Ovechkin was lighting it up and Crosby was just doing alright. Bedard and Michkov both have solid careers ahead of them imo, but but only time will tell on who can actually make the most out of their situation.

As for Bedard they have a book on him and they are playing hard on him Wing would be better for him because he is NOT a center but to play wing he needs a REAL center chicago has none !!!

Nah, generational talent in Canada is used correctly most of the time when it comes to 1st overall picks. It's only been applied to McDavid, Crosby and Bedard in recent memory. The only time I remember it being completely off the mark in the past 30 years was Alexandre Daigle. It's also just too early to be writing off Bedard just because Michkov is currently outplaying him. People were saying the exact same thing about Ovechkin and Crosby when Ovechkin was producing more in the early stages of their careers. Fast forward to present day and Crosby has had a more successful career than Ovi all around with the exception of goal scoring totals. People always think the results should be immediate, but that isn't always the case.
Bedard is going to be a bust. His skillset doesn't translate to the NHL very well. Not fast enough, skilled enough, or tough enough to create on his own. He's lazy and soft.
