    I know that this is a really unusual type of video since you are not used to see me uploading videos related to cars. Recently i bought a pair of side vents for the front bumper of our family car, a skoda octavia gt. I bought it from Milotec, a company which has a variety of products for skodas of all models, of all generations for various areas of the car and it is based in Germany. The idea behind this mod, is mainly to give a more sporty look to a rather old car and secondly (which is my favorite part) to make the side mounted intercooler a bit more efficient by letting the hot outcoming air that comes out of it, escape through the side vent. The principle is simple: the cooler the air that enters the combustion chamber, the denser will be resulting more efficient fuel burning thus giving more power. Mods like this and the drilling of the arch liner behind the intercooler are cheap and can be useful when the car gets a remap where more power is needed.

    I don’t even care about side vents, much less about Skodas. Still watching. Great videos man. 👍

    Could've fooled me in to thinking it was factory. I have a lot of respect for the Octavia, especially in this trim. Getting the air cooler really does make the difference too, personally I have a Nissan Skyline intercooler in my old diesel LR Discovery and the power increase was noticeable when it was fitted.

    I would have added a vent that directed this air through the wheel wells snd directs the air at the brake rotors for additional cooling of them. this was first seen for raly drivers but many modern cars use it on their sporty car lines. Subaru and i belive dodge also use that method. but you do not get cool looking vents this way

    • @harrisp584
      @harrisp584 6 лет назад +1

      hib3032 ideally yeah but I think the fact that there's flowing air in general now vs. before the vent is added. The intercooler seemed to be in pretty stagnant air behind panels hidden in the wheel well

  • @harrisp584

    Only one intercooler on the left bumper right? So the right vent is just for symmetry haha yeah makes sense

  • @lilvely

    Hello! Is Skoda Octavia GT (193hp) a limited edition of vRS model (180 hp)? It was built / tuned only for Greece? Because I recently got aware of it and after googleing, I saw a lot of pictures with Greek number plates. Does it still have "AUQ" designation for the engine or is another one? I'm just curious!

    • @johnnyq90
      @johnnyq90  7 лет назад +1

      +Vely Vanatoru That is correct. One downside though is that it has smaller disc brakes. At least they put a better suspension.

    • @convoy69_47
      @convoy69_47 5 лет назад

      I thing GT was produced for Greece only. And the engine is not 132kw (179hp), but a bit stronger. As you wrote - 193hp.

    Isn't if better to put vents on the plastic behind the IC and in front of the tyre? Cause this vent is on the IC's side and it would work better to force air through the IC. BMW E36 have plastic routings gathering air from front bumper and going to the front brakes to cool them. Something like that could be fabricated and serve dual purpose with IC and front brakes. www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=CB33-USA-05-1993-E36-BMW-325i&diagId=51_2022

      because we pay the gasoline €/L and not $/USgallon, especially in my country the government fucking us with heavy taxes, and smaller cylinders better burning, and with vvt(aka v-tec, VANOS, etc), vvl(aka Valvetronic, etc) you can easily have a reliable (let's say) 1.8 petrol engine that will have plenty of torque and power in a wide range. Mating with a 6-speed MT with the appropriate gearing, makes priests... Not speak the turbocharging that thing

    • @michaeld_aus_b
      @michaeld_aus_b 8 лет назад +2

      because we build efficient engines. No need to have a large engine for the same power.
      For example a 2,0l has 250-280 BHP/340-300 Nm, a Us engine has 6l and 200 BHP, doh.
      And we do not like to waste money.
