Beautiful place, Matthew. I'm glad you enjoyed your experience this time sketching outside 😀

It was a lovely day out..without so much of the usual plein air frustrations! Hurrah!

Thanks so much for that, Matthew. I live in Australia, but am also looking looking to get out more to both paint and sketch. I am waiting for the arrival of my full sized slate, and bought a tripod. Seeing this has made me confident that it was a good decision. We get lots of rain, so I just loved the idea of the brolley. I hadn't thought of the shade it would cast. I loved your picture, looks like you had a wonderful day. Very inspiring 😀

Exciting waiting for new equipment....good luck and do comment on future videos and let me know how you get in with the larger etchr slate! The best of luck with it and happy sketching! I wish I could see the results of you learning, but alas you can't post pictures un comments on youtube...thats why I set up my patreon at the beginning of the year. The small group of us on there so far are having great fun inspiring each other and sharing our efforts! Think about joining! Would be great to have you on board!

Was a much better experiment...even enjoyable...just got to improve the actual results now! That would have been easier if I'd been on my own...when you are out with someone who doesn't paint you always have the anxiety of needing to finish for their sake. It was handy having a cameraman today though! :)

Punch up the darks in a bit more in the shadows of the doorways and 'window' spaces etc and you'll get a more sunlit effect in the painting, other than that, looking good I think.
Lovely place also, we're NT too but based in London.

Yes I realise its tonally flat...yesterday was all about trying out the tripod with the etchr slate mini rather than a great painting. The set up worked well. Whenever I'm either my partner I'm conscious not to be too long, so would never get a 'good' result from such a sitting....looking forward to going out on my own over the summer when I can relax and take time
