My friend who lives in Idaho orders a lot of stuff by Amazon and other food places during the winter,

I'm glad you mentioned the seasonal nature of this area. It can be good if someone wants to get into being a bartender or restaurant server. I grew up outside of Buffalo where people wanted to get into those jobs and it was hard. You needed experience. We have a great job market for young person jobs. If people have 14 to 25 year old relatives like nieces or nephews or grandkids and they want to move here then let those hs and college kids come stay with them and get a summer job. Even grocery stores have a much higher need in the summer.
I do childcare work. In the winter, all the waitresses, massage, hairdresser, bartenders and so on jump over into our field so it becomes flooded. Also, the family don't hire sitters as much in the winter. This time of year they like to go downtown to bars or have friends and family in from Cali and take them to downtown. So there's a lot of date night sitting in the summer. Anyhow, even not being in the tourist industry itself, there's still a huge seasonal nature to jobs available.
As for mean locals. I've had a bunch of Post Falls women (other childcare workers) make up lies and talk crap about me for over 2 years. It hasn't even been 2 years that I lived here. They started even before I moved here.

You guys left out a lot when it comes to winter up here. Make sure your house and mainly water lines are insulated and heated to prevent freezing. It can cost you big time to have frozen waterlines. From one of my favorite movies, G.I Jane, "Two is one and one is none." Have more than one snow shovel and don't forget to have ice melt ready for sidewalks and driveways. Walk-behind snow blowers are nice for small areas but if you are out in the boonies invest in a tractor with a snow plow or snow blower on it. I tried the Snow Sport plow on my truck and it just does not work all that well on dirt/gravel. Studded snow tires are also a good idea plus having 4 wheel drive. Prepare your vehicles too with special wiper fluid that won't freeze, diesel additive that prevents gelling if you have diesel vehicle, think about battery tenders to keep batteries up. As for the rest of it, most of the people I have met up here in the last year are from some where else and they seem to have the worst attitudes!

Great info, thanks. We could do a whole video on winter tips.
Thats weird you’ve met people with bad attitudes. I know literally hundreds of people and they are all great.

@@thenorthidahoexperience The people born and raised here are nice people but those from other states have issues...not all but a good many.

I grew up in Northern Idaho and I remember back in the early 80s the lake froze over and my friends and I were able to ice skate on it. People were driving their rigs on the lake. We were able to light little fires for warmth while we skated and ice fished. Oh my, the snow and cold were double what it is now. Lol! This was back when there was only one high school. Yeah it's not the same. I just wanted to share that little tidbit. ❤

It’s funny how realtors in the Coeur d’Alene area never seem to mention the pollution in the lake or how unsafe the fish are to eat….. let’s see you guys post a video telling the truth about the lake!

I literally mention it all the time. Just did a video yesterday where I mentioned it. So maybe don't make a generalized statement without watching more of our videos??

In the shopping warning, you mentioned ordering online instead of shopping a store. One point of that is Amazon delivery is NOT fast to rural areas. I recently moved to an out-of-town home, coming from a big metro, and one of the things I'm having to get used to is that Prime doesn't mean "next morning" or even "next day" out here. It can mean "next week" in some cases, but the usual is a few days. I got very spoiled by next-day and next-morning delivery for online shopping, and that's just not available where I am. (There are more positives than negatives for me to where I ended up, but this is definitely taking some getting used to.)

You are spot on about that. It's generally pretty fast, but not always
