I didn't quite explain the whole Reviewers' Challenge, in which I invite you to participate. The notion is that I make you a small fixed blade knife using a Stanley chisel and whatever other available materials. Your preferences are requested: since you might like a 2.5" Swayback Wharncliffe with walnut burl handle and bone collar, flat ground; or a Lanny's Clip with hickory and buffalo horn, saber grind; or a little backup survival knife with micarta, duplex Scandi and flat grind etc.
I'll try my hand at pretty much whatever, within reason and the chisel stock parameters of hidden tang, max 1x3" blade.
The knife will be made for you to the best of my ability and sent to you in exchange for a coin and your commitment to test and critically review my work.
So far I have one knife completed and a couple others in the pipeline.
The scheme suits me because I'm at a stage where I need the challenge and critical feedback.
So, if you like the idea, please don't hesitate to make a commission! To start out I just need a blade spec.

Brilliant craftsmanship DK, I can feel the authenticity through the screen. Always a joy to witness someone in their element and always respect anyone who is passionate about an activity, especially an activity which produces an item so many take for granted. I guess I will now learn so much more about knives from hereon in. The handles on each are exquisite.
Many thanks for the graft and once again thoroughly appreciate the patience you’ve displayed waiting for me to comment. I’ll give a portion of credit to the passion you display on this channel. I know one thing, an artisan accumulates the virtue in bucketloads. Even your narration matches the peace and pace of the life you live.
Brilliant channel and will be sure to share brother. Stay great!🦁🙏🏼⭐️

I was considering removing the guards to make a set of four steak knives - but you can use them for steak just fine with the guards on.
I might pick up another to modify ;D

You should check out the Utica Sportsman. Looks almost identical to the Colonial. Great steel. These are waaay before Rambo, these date from the early 1900’s, no later than the 1930’s. Most likely they were made even before that by many makers, very common from the 1890’s onwards, until the 1960’s or later. Rambo became a craze after 1982 I think, and it got bigger in 85 when First Blood part 2 hit the theaters. It lasted well into the 90’s and is still popular, seems a new generation of kids have discovered the “survival knife” i love classic older knives, really even the cheapest of the old knives are still far better than the Survivor or Elk Ridge, Rite Edge or even M-tech garbage. I sold it for almost 10 years and the steel-if it is even steel-is absolute garbage. Not hardened, barely any carbon and the quality control is below bad. I broke 2 new ones by tapping it on a glass table as we talked, they snapped at the tang. Unbelievable. If someone wants a cheap knife, try a Mora, or a Rough Rider at least.

@@MrRugercat45 Hi, thanks for this comment. I am sure you are onto something with the Utica and the pattern in general. I do suspect that the one I suggested was more of a "survival" grind would have been from the 50's onwards because of the PVC sheath (it looks to be the original sheath and it's some kind of synthetic material).
I only started becoming more seriously interested in the world of knives within the last few years, although I have always loved and enjoyed knives - but there's so much out there, so much to learn, it's great!
I have a few M-Tech blades lying around and some of them I've even used. One has a good bottle opener on it which if I'm going to bother going for an opener it may as well work slick. Some time last year in a smoke shop I found a little M-Tech tactical mini hatchet thingamy. Pretty cute design with a full tang and G10 scales but they cut out wrench sockets right into the head of the thing.
I don't know why I would ever buy more of that kind of junk but I'm grateful for the experience. Like you read some good books or some that are pretty bad but all the while you're reading something and expanding the horizons.
In learning a bit about the world of knife steels I find that I can certainly appreciate the whole range, from the old carbon steels to the newer varieties, the classic stainless steels, the modern super steels.
But the good old-time carbon stuff really has a life of its own.
