Lovely pastels, I made too, 300 pastels with calcium carbonate and pigments to build houses and arabic gum. I melt complementary colors to make them. They are cheap. I made papers too.
@@townbell2248 I use pure, dry pigments, as they look natural and vibrant: as on the old paintings. I don't know what kind of paint You've had on Your mind. Acrylic is useless here for sure, as it makes a plastic coat. Watercolour would be expensive... Dry pigments from ochra family are not expensive: You can try mixing this pigment with watercolours. Synthetic ultramarine is very vibrant and easy to work with. Good luck!
@@srDanaBenedicta I mostly want to make something to color on concrete with but would like it to be able to draw on paper when the weather is too bad to draw outside. I was just trying to think of things I had on hand for pigments like acrylic or watercolor paints.
Oh wow, I want to buy a set of yours.

Where do you get your colors?
For making soft and oil pastels I buy pigments from the local art-supply store. You can also order pigments on nett.
Hallo there ,
Is there another gum l can use instead of tragacanth gum ??
They say one can use gum arabic, too, but I don't have experience with that
Way way too exotic and complicated for a wide audience.
That's nonsense. It's easy to do.
I use old eyeshadow for my pastels 🫢
