TRIP REPORT | Air Greenland - A330 200 - Copenhagen (CPH) to Kangerlussuaq (SFJ) | Business Class

On August 20, I flew Air Greenland from Copenhagen, Denmark to Kangerlussuaq, Greenland in Business Class. This was one of the coolest flights I've ever taken because I love flying to Arctic places.
Air Greenland (previously known as Greenlandair) is the flag carrier and only airline based in Greenland. They operate a fleet of 32 aircraft and are owned by the Greenlandic Government. Besides running scheduled services and government-contracted flights to most villages in the country, they also support remote research stations and provide charter services for tourists and Greenland's energy and mineral-resource industries along with medivac operations during emergencies. They technically have seven subsidiaries: the airline, hotels, tour operators, a travel agency specialized in Greenlandic tourism, and the Arctic Umiaq Line, an unprofitable but government-subsidized ferry service that I am interested in doing a video on in the near future.

So fascinating that you made a trip report our national airline in Greenland! I’m from Greenland. I was working in Kangerlussuaq as a luggage handler in Air Greenland. At this time, you didn’t see me because I went home to my hometown to take a break before starting in the university in Nuuk 😄 I’m really glad that you are really happy about Air Greenland, the Airbus A330 is great. Used to live in Kangerlussuaq/SFJ, and now living in Nuuk/GOH. Fly this route several times a year, and seats 8A or K are my favourites.. Great vid

I wonder if they specifically picked the colour to make it easier to spot in the snow in case of an emergency, given how snow covered most of Greenland is.

Thanks QFS yes it is 2023 Air Greenland delivers great service on board a red A330! Great presentation love the music and visual match on landing! Greenland is an absolute opposite to Australia geographically antipodes longitude wise. In July 1998, flew over Greenland on Lufthansa classic Boeing747-230 between Frankfurt and Vancouver over Greenland with great views in the summer middle of the day when in Australia is was middle of winter and midnight wow furthest to get away from home without leaving the earth!

I love Greenland! Ilulissat is where we spent most of our time last year. Kayaking among the ice fjord and icebergs, visited a whaling community, Disko Bay is beautiful!

Söndre Strömfjord SFJ / Kangerlussuaq used to be very important place for SAS, in the 50s
and even 60s when flying to Tokyo and SE Asia. Great video!

Fantastic trip report. They seem to be a great airline, I'd love to try them in the future. The livery is nice. IFE was a bit old, but it offered more music and films than I'd expected

Years ago I visited Finland, and found it a quiet place. Then I visited Iceland in the fog, and found it twice as subdued. I picture Greenland's activity level somewhere between Iceland's and Antarctica's.

I flew on this same plane in December 2006, same route. When the plane was departing SFJ, a service vehicle collided with the #2 engine and put the plane out of commission. The empty plane was ferried back to CPH for repairs later that week. In the meantime Air Greenland used it's soul Boeing 757 to cover the route. While I wasn't expecting it, I got to fly on both types of jetliners in the Air Greenland fleet. Naturally the A330 won.

I would love to do this trip I've always wanted to visit Greenland I think the dramatic landscape appeals to me but the cost just to get there from Sydney Australia is somewhat out of my budget 😢 The Greenland air food looked really nice and the fur menu would be a nice addition to my collection 😁 thanks for posting.
