I was born with glaucoma - my mum noticed an enlarged eye straight away after birth as I was her 5th child. Sadly took months to get a diagnosis and I have very little vision in my left eye now. At the age of 10 I had shunt put to drain it as drops didn't work effectively anymore. But all that being said I enjoy life despite the vision loss in the left eye 😊 glad to see more being done to get this earlier.
I got pediatric glaucoma when I was 9 from my cataract surgery as a baby. I never knew I had this condition until it was diagnosed at the age of 9. Today I'm 26 and I take four eye drops everyday for my pressure. So far I have not had any glaucoma surgeries thank goodness. I can understand that it would be hard for new parents that learn that their child has glaucoma because you don't want to believe that a sneaky eye condition that permanently takes your sight can happen to an innocent child that just came into the world. We don't want anything horrible to happen to children they're the most innocent things on earth.
I have to go to children’s hospital to get my eyes checked for that. My optometrist compared pictures and the one thing in my eye is growing and shouldn’t be.
I am 12 years old and I have glaucoma but I haven’t had any peripheral damage so my drops will stop anything from happening. I had a pressure of 24 (left) 25 (right so it might just be a one off but they want to treat it as glaucoma just in case
Elizabeth` Ryan` my son is showing signs of glaucoma. We are having a hard time getting him in to to be tested by a pediatric ophthalmologist after being referred by a doctor from the eyemart optometrist. I’m so scared that if he isn’t seen soon he may suffer some blindness. We just want him to be seen, so that we can know if he is in danger. How are you doing? Were you and your family scared? Did you loose any vision? Do you think 4 months is too long to wait to be seen by doctors or did your doctors always treat your initial diagnosis’ with urgency? I know you don’t know me... but anything you are willing to share with me about your experience will be greatly appreciated. I’m so afraid for my son right now- I don’t want him to go blind. He’s only 7.
@@wfysubmitted Little man will be ok...in Gods name. My son has had it since birth hes five now and has a surgery coming up. The opto doc says hes legally blind but, he came see still! I tell you...no one but God is who you hang on. Is he ok??
