LOVEBITES entire catalogue has been described as a love letter to 80s metal. You'll hear influences of pretty much all the legendary metal bands from the 80s and early 90s in their songs. I guess that part of the reason I love thier music so much - they play the styles of metal I love, and they do it so freakin' well.
yeah lovebites took notes from all the giants of metal sprinkled it with shit tons of fairy dust and redefined the genre in the most beautiful way possible!!!
Welcome back to Lovebites ! This is an awesome thrash track innovatively blended in with a gallop. In an interview, Asami (lead vocalist) had mentioned that she hoped her fans would view her powerful mezzo-soprano vocal range as another instrument in the band.
LOVEBITES new EP and also a live LP (DVD/Blu-ray/CD) both will be released on August 28. „LOVEBITES EP II“ will contain „Unchained“ and four more new songs and in addition a re-recording of the band’s debut „THE LOVEBITES EP“ for a limited edition. Next single „Soul defender“ will be released on August 12. „Memorial of the Warrior Souls“ is the live recording of last year‘s Tokyo concert during the Judgement Day tour. It features 7 live versions of songs from the „Judgement Day“ album including „Soldier stands solitarily“. And of course also the pre-releases „Rising“ and „We are the resurrection“, which was the opening track for this show.
Nostalgic vibes are everywhere with them. If you look at the fanbase there is alot of 50-70 yeat olds (My demo) who have been starved of great metal for decades. You get some Maiden, Priest, Slayer, Metallica, even some Motorhead at times. Sometines it's just a brief riff, maybe Asami's vocals, sometimes it's Midori's & Miyako's solos, but it's their own sound. They are phenomenal. I now consider them my favorite band...of all-time.

I get goosebumps every time I listen to this song! All the songs of Lovebites are very different. But they are all very cool. You will never be disappointed. In this and the previous song, Miho plays bass. She and drummer Haruna created this band. But she left the group and in all the latest videos on the Lovebites channel, Fami plays bass. I suggest you to watch their live video "Holy war" with Miho or you can watch their video "The Hammer Of Wrath" with Fami. Both videos on their official RUclips channel. Thank you for the reaction! More Lovebites on the channel!
Thank you for the reaction. In two hours (at 9 o'clock Tokyo time) there will be a live broadcast on the LOVEBITES RUclips channel : World premiere e-viewing event 'LIVE AT HOME 4' (Live Blu-ray/2DVD 'Memorial For The Warrior Souls')
Incredible that they can play that fast with precision duets and everything is still so audibly clear. People say their influences are Iron Maiden, Judas Priest & early Metallica. The mother of Miyako(dark haired guitarist, nickname ‘Golden Touch’) was a big Richie Blackmore fan, so that can be added to the mix of influences.
The singer (Asami) said the following about them singing in English: We sing in English because we feel that English is more suitable than Japanese for singing metal music. (This is probably referring to the rhymes in the language.) For example, there is the word "You" in English. In this case, "You" can be pronounced with one sound. However, in Japanese, the same meaning is pronounced with three sounds, "A_Na_Ta." This means that even if the lyrics have the same meaning, it is difficult to express the same sound in Japanese and English. --------- from Nippon *This is a sentence using Google Translate. They believe that English is the most suitable language to metal. Thanks for the beautiful reaction. Let me give you some advice on other Lovebites songs: "Break the wall" (LIVE 2020), the most brutal thrash/speed metal song of the band "Holy war" (LIVE 2020), classic power metal, the most known and reacted on You Tube, amazing performance "Judgment day" OMV 2023, title-track of the latest album, epic power metal with insane guitar solos "The hammer of wrath" (LIVE 2023) , pure heavy metal, fast and powerful "Stand and deliver" OMV 2023, funny song that shows a different side of the band "Shadowmaker" OMV 2017, the first great success of the band, with wonderful guitar solos "We are the resurrection" (LIVE 2023, released a few weeks ago on their channel), memorable epic and fast power metal "Frozen serenade" (LIVE 2021), emotional power ballad that shows the multi-instrumental skills of the band. These are just examples to begin, the Lovebites discography containes about 60 songs, and there isn't a bad song. And now let me present you the members of the band and their roles: ASAMI, singer, composer, dancer and lyrics maker HARUNA, drummer MIDORI, guitarist (the blonde), also composer MIYAKO, guitarist (dark haired) the genius of the band, also classical pianist, keyboardist, main composer and arranger FAMI, bassist, joined to the group in 2022 (the bassist you have seen so far in the videos is the former bassist MIHO,. I hope my suggestions are useful for you. Thanks for reactions and for support to Lovebites.
Sorry. 🙏I'll add a little to your comment.😊 Miho was at the origins of the creation of LOVEBITES. She created the band and remained the leader all the time while she was a member of LOVEBITES (2016-August 2021). The idea and initiative to create the band belongs to Miho. Haruna at that time (in 2015 - 2016) was not involved in music at all. In December 2014, Haruna left the music industry. Miho also owns the ideas: musical concept (the roots of LOVEBITES music are in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal), stage image (white dresses), songs in English, the image of the Wolf on the covers of releases, etc. LOVEBITES also released the Single 'Golden Destination' (4 tracks) in February 2020. Which, in fact, can also be called the 3rd EP of the band. Because on 'Golden Destination' there are two songs that are not on other Albums and EP LOVEBITES: 'Spellbound' and 'Puppet on Strings'. Nothing personal.🤗
I'm one of the Wolfpack (Lovebites fans) from Indonesia 🇲🇨 who never has a problem with the lyrics of their songs being in English Even though I don't understand Japanese and am not good at English, I was still bitten hard by Lovebites!!
Lovebites are gold standard of todays metal bands. They very soon have become No. 2 of my favourite bands (Nightwish is still my No. 1). These ladies are gorgeous artists with a great stage presence and connection to the audience. Their main influences are from the 80s but they made something new and fresh from them, something unique and very special. I could listen to them the whole day; their music gives me power and watching these beautiful ladies makes me happy (by the way, I am a 66 years old woman). I really hope this band will stay together and do not disband too soon as many other bands (especially from Japan) do.
Glad you returned to the Metal Queens. You are right that they sound modern but at the same time the roots of their music are very much in 80's metal. It is probably why so many GenXer's like the band so much. They are very diverse in their catalog. If you want to see a different side of them I would recommend you listen to Swan Song with Chopin Intro. Be sure that the description says Chopin intro. It will say "LOVEBITES Swan Song Chopin Intro live with lyrics"
My kind of metal! Nice reaction. This was the third performance I had ever seen by LOVEBITES, and by this time I was completely hooked, I knew I had found the modern day band I had been looking for. Not long after that they became my favorite band ever. These five ladies (and a baby) rocked my socks off with this great thrash metal masterpiece! 🤘🐺🤘 🔥

I think Asami's vocals fit this band perfectly and I always find it odd when the occasional comment will say her voice doesn't fit the music. To my ear the music somehow "sounds Japanese", (not sure how that works) but for me, this group would lose appeal if they had some brit or american girl singing for them.
Great reaction Johnny! LOVEBITES is the band that rekindled my interest in metal. The first MV I watched of theirs, "When Destinies Align," was mesmerizing, and I replayed it many times over. I was not dissapointed when I watched their live performances either. Their music catalog is quite extensive, and very diverse. One of their best on the opposite end of the spectrum is "A Frozen Serenade." It showcases their song writing and virtuosity perfectly. Just subscridbed 🙏🕊&❤
Asami's English pronouncing is quite good... her lyrics are straightforward and elegant for a reason. Metal vocals need to have passion, and she has ridiculous amounts of it. People complaining over her English should see the other side. If a foreign band go through the difficulties to sing in English or any other non-native language, it's an honor and a privilege. The opposite is, try to sing in Japanese and see how Japanese people react. To be fair, when Daisuke-han from Maximum The Hormone sings, not even Japanese people can understand his *Japanese* let alone what he's singing about 🤣🤘
johnny sensei こんにちは😃 いつも楽しく視聴させて頂いています。music depends on language. therefore, if they wanted to purpose pure metal music ,.they chose to sing in English. however,.Japanese and English have completely different pronunciation systems. 50 years ago, should rock music be sung in English or Japanese? there was a discussion about this, but it remains unresolved. well, i want the world to recognize that English with a Japanese acce accent is cool. otherwise , we Japanese people will not be able to escape from the dislike of speaking English. anyway,.band maid and lovebites , these two bands are friends.
Song has ended, you can close the mouth now ;) Also about an accent... I have Vietnamese wife, and when she talks in english, her accent is so cute... Sometimes she makes clear mistakes when talking english, and she is often upset with me(not really), because I don't want to correct her mistakes, because her mistakes are so cute and funny... I want to keep them. We often have a good laugh, when she makes them ;)
Warning! Today on the YT channel of Lovebites will be released the live performance of "The soldier stands solitarily", one of the most insane song of the band! It can't be missed!

New vs Old. I think about discovering Lovebites is how it felt as a kid in the Eighties hearing Iron Maiden or Metallica for the very first time. English Lyrics: Sometimes I wish Lovebites did sing in Japanese because some of their English lyrics are kind of “macho bullshit”. Some of them feel like they took the most typical metal lyrics, put them in a blender and made a new song. (It doesn’t matter since the music is worth listening to no matter what the lyrics say) Metal Stance: Miyako is almost completely immune from the effects of metal music on her legs and spine. She just stands tall and thrashes.
Funny thing with the power stance being a metal thing, Status Quo did that back in the early seventies when the 3 guitarists would line up in the stance with their long hair hanging down over the guitars, the cover of Piledriver is a prime example, and that was playing boogie. Thin Lizzy done the same thing, things have to start somewhere I guess.
One of the reasons they insist on English lyrics is that they themselves feel that rock/metal music and soft, impressionistic Japanese are incompatible. In fact, many Japanese musicians often use one-point English lyrics for the parts they want to emphasise.
..youre not finished with Lovebites, but after that, you should give The Warning (3 Sisters from Mexico) a chance. Start with any song from the show at Pepsi Center 2023 e.g Diciple.
Hello from Canada May I point out that in several interviews with LOVEBITES original founding member Miho (former bassist) she has said that the reason for LOVEBITES singing in English was 1) she wanted a band that played traditional metal music based on the genres origin (Britain) and also because she herself couldn’t understand Japanese singers singing metal so she decided that LOVEBITES would just sing in English instead. And I must admit while it does take some time to get used to Asami’s vocal pronunciations in her accent it does get easier to understand her plus she has improved the last few years since the two videos you reacted to.
Don't over think about the accent thing. Beatles conquered the world where most of their international audience didn't understand English. And the Beatles were credited to raise the popularity level of Western Rock music in Japan that influenced and propelled Japan to evolve into the metal/rock powerhouse they are today. That said, as a English second language speaker from the US, I do wish at times that Asami to improve her English ainging by working with a vocal coach to sharpen her accent in singing. Asami's conversational English is actually very good as I've heard her live in London last month. However, she seems to put some strange emphasis on singing in English words and phrases that seems strained and jarring, by working too hard. Most loyal LB fans have gotten used to and even adored to her annunciation mostly because of uniquely powerful and widely ranged voice, including myself. But I have quite a few friends who simply couldn't get into their music because of her annunciation and phrasing in English. I think Asami's English is pretty good, but with a little bit finetuning with a vocal/language coach it will broaden LB's appeal to the Western, mostly American/English speaking audience which represents a large share of the market. That said, I still love Lovebites, enough to fly to London to watch their concert. I hope one day to watch a full show in Japan like the one they played in their latest LP released this morning.
Johnny...a lot of it has to do with Asami's vocals. The musicianship is TOP LEVEL, that's obvious, but Asami is REALLY DIFFERENT! The big difference with Living Colour(a great, but underrated band) was Corey Glover. His vocal style was completely different than any other Hard Rock singer. Same with Joyce Kennedy of MOTHER'S FINEST. She's a great singer with a different style for Hard Rock. Asami is the same style...R&B/Soul...but the band plays variations of Metal. When I hear people do the Iron Maiden comparison, I scoff at it. Bruce Dickinson is a great vocalist, but he doesn't sing like Asami. And I am a big Maiden fan. Lovebites are simply a very unique band. Love em!

LOVEBITES - Set The World On Fire lyrics:
The blue moon colors the blaze
Stabbing myself with the thunder
The predetermined imitation
An emotionless and a fearless smile
Flowing blood and crimson blade
Devastated resolution
Heat haze is waving far away
Who’s going to be sacrificed?
ON FIRE
Just like a falling flower
ON FIRE
Until this body rots away
Burning down to the Gates of Hell
Distorted madness is sneering
Incompetent, cowardly fools
A pitiful and painful punishment
It’s you who will be sacrificed
ON FIRE
Dressed in an armor of steel
ON FIRE
If I’m burned again and again
I’ll rise up from the Gates of Hell
SOLO: midori / miyako / both
The blue moon colors blaze
Stabbing myself with the thunder
The predetermined imitation
An emotionless and fearless smile
SOLO: miyako
Flowing blood and crimson blade
Devastated resolution
Heat haze is waving far away
Who’s going to be sacrificed?
ON FIRE
Just like a falling flower
ON FIRE
Until this body rots away
Burning down to the Gates of Hell

Sept 12 - Café du Nord, San Francisco, US (sold out)
I would love to go to the Tokyo show, but I have another engagement on that day, might try and change it.
Asami said "Bang your head" not Bloody Hell.
It took me 3 years to realise it's not the latter lol.
Hmm, yer now that makes more sense.
@@HellMac same here
At the beginning of the song Asami says "Rot in hell!" not bang your head.
Midori💚💚💚💚💚 Miho💜💜💜💜💜
edge of the world is probably more my jam.
Simply stunning, mindblowing musicianships. Lovebites rules 👍🤘. Thanks bro 👍
I think Asami's vocals fit this band perfectly and I always find it odd when the occasional comment will say her voice doesn't fit the music. To my ear the music somehow "sounds Japanese", (not sure how that works) but for me, this group would lose appeal if they had some brit or american girl singing for them.
I agree, don't disagree. When did I say her voice didn't fit?
@@JohnnyReacts1 oh I was just making a general statement cause that comes up occasionally, not making a direct reference to your reaction
Lovebites is the thrill of the 80s in the 21st century. 🤘🤘🤘🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🔥🔥🔥
Lovebites . . . 🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺
Many thanks!
@@JohnnyReacts1 My pleasure
Thank you for reacting to Lovebites, the most talented ladies in metal.
You are most welcome.
ドラえもんが覗いてる😆
lol it was a thank you card for an ex-student.
Amazing, truly amazing.
🤘🐺🔥
Asami's English pronouncing is quite good... her lyrics are straightforward and elegant for a reason. Metal vocals need to have passion, and she has ridiculous amounts of it.
People complaining over her English should see the other side. If a foreign band go through the difficulties to sing in English or any other non-native language, it's an honor and a privilege. The opposite is, try to sing in Japanese and see how Japanese people react.
To be fair, when Daisuke-han from Maximum The Hormone sings, not even Japanese people can understand his *Japanese* let alone what he's singing about 🤣🤘
johnny sensei こんにちは😃
いつも楽しく視聴させて頂いています。music depends on language.
therefore, if they wanted to purpose pure metal music ,.they chose to sing in English.
however,.Japanese and English have completely different pronunciation systems.
Thank you for your message. Yes, metal is cool sung in English with a Japanese accent, though I like it sung in Japanese as well.
Miho Miho Miho!
Miyakos solo reminds me of Eric Johnson. Completely different but still. So sonically similar 😂

「SWAN SONG」please!

👍LOVEBITESRULES👍
(It doesn’t matter since the music is worth listening to no matter what the lyrics say)
Metal Stance: Miyako is almost completely immune from the effects of metal music on her legs and spine.
80 s THRASH, modern sound 😊
One of the reasons they insist on English lyrics is that they themselves feel that rock/metal music and soft, impressionistic Japanese are incompatible.
In fact, many Japanese musicians often use one-point English lyrics for the parts they want to emphasise.
Yes, I hear English lyrics used in many Japanese songs. I spoke to a Japanese musician a while back and he said singing in English is cool.
Thanks for your comment. I wanted to go on September the first but have another commitment. I hope to go and see them soon!
..youre not finished with Lovebites, but after that, you should give The Warning (3 Sisters from Mexico) a chance.
Thanks for the message and info!
Love em!
Thanks for the message, yes I agree, very unique.
