18:59 you got 3 types of cones that detect color in your eyes. Because of the prolonged stimulation of one type of cone with red light this one gets excausted. After swithing off the light you have an after image until the cone is ready again. It can last up to 1 minute and is not harming your sensory cells in the eye (cones).
I had the same reaction when I was doing a school project on neon pink poster board! Was staring at it so long drawing on it that my vision went crazy after!
I feel like Rachel is extra sassy in this video and I like it! I find it frustrating when influencers try product and like everything they try. Because we know not everything works well for everyone. But Rach is just out here saying no! It’s glitter! Don’t spend $30 on it!
A couple things for "Hair gate" as a stylist of 20+ years. In regards to K18, olaplex etc there is a general 80/20 rule was like to recommend. 80 percent of the time you'll use moisturizing products and 20 percent protein products. Long story short you can almost strengthen your hair too much. Resulting in it being unable to bend and move. This results in it being to stiff and snapping. So I do recommend them but more for like once or twice a week depending on your personal damage. The rest of the time use moisture. Or if you do a protein type leave in for strength then only use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners for balance. In regards to your water quality even the best softener doesn't filter out all the minerals and iron so it will help but the build up will just be slower. We have something we use in the salon called a Malibu treatment. You can do them once a month to remove the build up and soften the hair. Hard water or "well water" essentially does the same thing as protein overload. Cause the hair to be too stiff. The Malibu brand also sells a whole kit with a special shampoo/conditioner, the monthly treatments, and the conditioner is a good conditioner to use as a deep treatment after the deep removal treatment. You should try them as well. You'd use them once a week and then your Density products should preform even better. Sorry this was long but may help. 😊
For your hair...my hairdresser told me to stop using protein and use a lot of moisturizing/hydrating products. Too much protein will snap your hair off. It cured my problem
Cool toned orange is salmon and... that's it. Which is probably why we don't see cool toned orange pallets. But your statement still stands! A cool toned pallet of something other than pinks and purples, and a warm toned pallet with something other than orange and browns would be nice.
Hairdresser here! Olaplex and k18 are great BUT can be overused and cause breakage as they can over proteinize your hair making it brittle af. My favorite protein/repair/strengthening but still hydrating shampoo and conditioners are the Davines Heart Of Glass Line (shampoo, conditioner, treatment, leave in) and the Davines Natural Tech Nourishing line (shampoo, conditioner, treatment, leave in) they both use a hydrolized protein which you can’t over use and will add moisture to your hair as well as strengthen it. Good luck!!
I've also been super depressed and very anxious and my anxiety has gotten so bad at one point that I wasn't even able to eat or drink because I kept choking and that never happened before and I was truly scared. But thankful that went away and everything is fine again. I hope that you can resolve your issues and that everything will get better for you. I'm just really anxious about an upcoming MRI. I get one every six months in order to re-evaluate a brain tumor to see how much it has grown and to see if I need treatment. It's supposed to be benign so basically it's just under observation for now but it's still a scary situation.
@@marciwhitman3513 I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers! That has to be scary to get the MRI’s, and then waiting for the results. Hang in there. 💕
We would like you to do a full face of all the new elf halo glow products - the blush and contour wands; the pink setting powder; the powder puff applicator, etc. Let's see it!
Rachel I started using a TENS/EMS device for my soreness and tension and it helps me a lot. I actually was having headaches every day because of the built up tension that I couldn’t get rid of (to the point where my PT said we need to stop therapy and you need to see the doctor again) but after a few sessions I feel like years of tension were removed. I hope you can try it out and I hope it helps!❤️
If anyone else struggles with crepe-y creasy dry under eyes, I would highly suggest the Ilia concealer. I think they only have one.. it’s in a tube with a doe-foot applicator. Less expensive than the Armani, maybe a littleeeee bit less coverage, but its my go-to concealer now. I’ve tried so many.
Today I realized I’ve dropped out of Rouge status as Sephora and at first I was disappointed but on the other hand, I never knew how much I was saving in the last year from not buying new makeup at the drop of a hat. Bittersweet
Came to the comments to say the same thing!! I got my shower head filter on Amazon, replace the filters every 3-4 months, and my hair has literally been transformed. The water really makes a difference!
The filters weren’t enough for me so I had to go for a mini water softener that attaches to the shower. My skin was on fire every time I showered when I first moved from my families well water to hard city water it was horrible!
I have found a lot of those spray in/leave in types of things for my hair (fine and thin) are way to heavy. But I have found if I use them while my hair is still wet/damp then wrapping my hair back up into a towel and doing the face routine helps. The towel soaks up excess product and my hair is still getting what I put in it but not getting weighed down.
Rachel you’re not going blind after the light haha it’s your eyes trying to balance colors and it’s almost like staring at the sun with eyes closed and seeing red through your eyelids, and then blue when you open. The receptors that are for red are basically tired for a while and the blue are more sensitive as the red have been working harder.
i am just doing a restock of my two almost empty products this time: the tatcha water cream and their rice wash (getting the value size this time since its cheaper for the quantity). love your videos!!
I totally get what you are saying about purples and oranges but there is no such thing as a cool toned orange. But we could totally play more with blues, greens, and browns on the cool side and purples, creams, and yellows on the warm side.
Okay, I realize this depends on your individual situation, but we're on well water and have fantastic water except for iron.... We've got a softener AND an iron filter that's ceramic beads in a tank (it's in line from the well, followed by the softener before coming into the house). LOVE it. Absolutely worth the cost!
Last year I bought the Dr Dennis Gross light mask for your whole face and I love it. It has decreased the appearance of dark spots, wrinkles reduced, etc... It is $400 USD id buy it again
When your hair gets to much protein it becomes straw like . My stylist loves that i use olaplex but asked for me to not use certain treatments due to that fact. She said some of those treatments should really only be used in a salon . Before anyone says that she wants me to spend more with he’ll at the salon she doesn’t. She’s my cousin and I’m not being charged for anything I get done at the salon .
The blue/green vision is a completely normal response of your eyes being exposed to the colour red for an extended period of time. It will never last long and it is perfectly normal.
Hard water can leave a film on your hair, so some products will work better for you when you get that fixed! I find products I use at home with hard water strip my hair when I travel somewhere with soft water. I can use hair masks that normally would weigh my hair down if I’m away from home.
I thought your lips looked really good!! Even though they faded I loved the soft look by the end. I’m always looking for a nice lip tint that stays and doesn’t look cracked or gross after a few hours and I thought it looked great!
For a leave-in treatment, try It's a Miracle LITE leave-in. I have fine hair too and this one is nice and light on my hair. I like it a lot! And I love Briogeo hair products as well!
I live in Arizona and am super excited to try the new One Size Stop the Sweat primer. And I'm treating myself with the Rare Beauty powder highlighter. I might also try the Tower 28 mascara that everyone talks about.
That mascara is so pretty. I love a good brown mascara and I am tempted to try this one now (I was holding off because of the price). Wish I could get a mini in brown.
Omg!!! I feel you on the hard water thing!! Both myself and my kids have been experiencing hair fall out and irritated scalps from this water!! I found out you need to use t-gel to clear the residue off of your scalp from the hard water then only use sulfate free body washes and shampoos and conditioners . It’s made such a huge difference
You have got to try the Nutrafol Shampoo and conditioner!! My hair feels healthier right after showing while still in the shower! My hair also lasts longer without getting as greasy between washes. 1000% new favorite!!!!
love these kinds of videos sm! their always so helpful and never let me down! im going to get the rare beauty mascara bc i love it sm and mines gonna be gone soon. also some new hair care to try because im not going to pass up a sale like this!!!
I wonder hear me out if tanning beds goggles like the little ones would be good with the eye mask thingy to stop your eyes from getting irritated like I have SUPER sensitive eye balls so I couldn’t use them unless maybe they would block out the light enough. I don’t know but I think it would be worth a try
Well... orange can't be cool toned because it is made of two warm tones--red and yellow. Nuetrals, including browns, on the other hand are a mixture of two complimentary colors. Therefore, browns are not innately desaturated and can only be cool toned if their undertones lean more towards blue, purple, or green. All nuetrals, including brown, still land in color families.
The DM clear lip face and eye gel is more intense and makes you look SWEATY in the best way possible. Same with the rhodes dew balm in topaz, has a beautiful tint
A tatcha moisturizer and maybe the Peter Thomas Roth instant something primer. I use the tower blush in that shade with a brush and it’s one I reach for a lot
Hey, Rach. My holy grail concealer is also the giorgio armani, but I also love the kosas for a bit more coverage and I just got the new Tom Ford traceless soft matte (not really matte, more satin) and I'm liking that, too. Fingertip application only with the Tom Ford, though. PS I also have red light therapy panels and the vision thing happens every time. Lol.
The Tarte Energy palette has a hold on me... I think it's because I love the In Bloom one so much. Also the new Rare Beauty lip oil in Wonder if it restocks.
I have fine straight hair & struggle to find the right haircare to provide body & oomph without stripping the color, conditioning without weighing it down, & to help it grow. ( I also had the VID & stomach acid/sluggish liver issues that thinned my hair a lot) I'd be interested in a more in-depth haircare video if you haven't already done 1...I do try to make sure I watch all your vids but I didn't check to see if I might've missed any. I will be testing my water to see if it might be too hard as well
I have that same leave in conditioner and i hate it does the same and i even tried the spray in hands rub together then deposit and still a weird heavy film i also have super fine hair that breaks very easily in the last year ive managed to get it to grow past the middle of my back a few changes i made investing in better hair care products i used to have to wash daily cause even if it wasnt oily it would look it i can now go a week to week and a half in between washes and only use dry shampoo once maybe twice in between and the biggest thing thats helped with breakage i bought a bonnets and use it every night highly highly suggest getting a bonnet
Too much of a good thing can be bad sometimes so sometimes if you use too much bond building stuff in your hair it can cause a negative affect instead of a positive ❤
Would you be able to try the L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Densifying Mascara in brown? I want to try out a brown mascara (but a more budget friendly option). That one has good reviews on Amazon
Cool toned Orange - somebody skipped color theory in class. Cooled toned are colors that include a lot of blue-ish tones. Warm toned colors include more yellow-ish tones. If you mix red (wich is warm in itself) with something cool aka blue, you get pink in purple depending on the amount of colors mixed in. If you mix red with warm colors on the other hand you naturally get orange. Some people tend to think that cool toned means greyish tones wich is just not true. Hope this was helpful.
You should try the Oribe Alchemy Serum. We have hard water and got a system to soften the water after having tested. The serum has helped my hair amazingly!!!
The reason why you saw blue and green is because red light blocks that blue color receptor in our eyes. When red stops showing the blue receptors are free to start firing again and they overcompensate. The same thing will happen if you stare at any image for a minute and then look at a blank white wall, you'll see the afterimage in the opposite color of what you had looked at before.
I'm eyeing Glow Recipe products since I have a couple good samples and hear so many great things. I was hoping the Strawberry stuff would be more impressive to you. Maybe it helped make the foundation look great?
I love the tower 28 balms but I found their packaging awful. You kind have to dig in to open them and out of the 3 I have 2 broke in the first few months (one within 6 weeks)
I am buying things that never go on sale. Hubby is getting Chanel Bleu, I am getting Tatcha face cream (the big pot), and the Danessa Myricks Lightwork V. 4: Transcendence Palette has slipped in to my cart as well. I’m thinking about the Westman Atelier highlighter, blush, and contour sticks but will probably give those a pass this year…
i had to same problem with the briogeo leave in as well and i have fine hair, i tried to put it on by hand but still felt really weighed down, greasy looking and felt filmy.
I need help finding one of Rachels videos where she talkes about a hairscalp oil/serum that helped her hair regrowth, i think it was an ordinary product. I can´t seem to find it and really want to know what brand/product it was. So if anyone knows please help me :P
so the weird thing about protien and hair is the products that add it to your hair are only good if your hair is low on protein. if your hair doesn't need it it actually ca7usues breakage.
Fun! So interesting about the concealer. I watched Kathleen Lights review of it and she LOVED it. Have you reviewed the Beauty Blender Skin Tint? I can't remember. I'd be super interested as that is her absolutely favorite foundation. I just wonder if they are super personal types of products. I always value your opinions!! Much love from New Zealand ❤❤❤❤😊

yep! it's commonly used in optical illusions.

Fun fact: orange is the only colour that can't be cool toned.
True except for the fact that brown is actually desaturated orange and you can get cool tone browns
Well... orange can't be cool toned because it is made of two warm tones--red and yellow. Nuetrals, including browns, on the other hand are a mixture of two complimentary colors. Love these videos!! I definitely need a Sephora shopping spree lol.
I actually work at Sephora and you know I needed the tea from this video lol😉
What do you think of Charlotte tilbury products? Are they worth it?
Love your videos!
The Foundation Looked great on you. II Saw This red led mask on amazon wonder if that works too.
You need the full face Dr gross light mask and it takes at least 10 weeks of constant use
There's Uoma Beauty, that you can get at sephora and ulta, and then there's Uoma by Sharon C that you can get at walmart
Get a vitamin c shower filter. It will make a huge difference for your hair
Did you retry this foundation without the shiny primer? Like did it get too matte by itself?
7:20 "This is the skin of a killer Bella" vibe 😂
I love the tower 28 balms but I found their packaging awful. You kind have to dig in to open them and out of the 3 I have 2 broke in the first few months (one within 6 weeks)
I am buying things that never go on sale. Hubby is getting Chanel Bleu, I am getting Tatcha face cream (the big pot), and the Danessa Myricks Lightwork V. 4: Transcendence Palette has slipped in to my cart as well. I’m thinking about the Westman Atelier highlighter, blush, and contour sticks but will probably give those a pass this year…
The DANESSA palette is oh my god amazing. You're going to love it.
I plan on purchasing mostly skin care-great time to stock up in my glow recipe favorites and olaplex
i had to same problem with the briogeo leave in as well and i have fine hair, i tried to put it on by hand but still felt really weighed down, greasy looking and felt filmy.
I need help finding one of Rachels videos where she talkes about a hairscalp oil/serum that helped her hair regrowth, i think it was an ordinary product. I can´t seem to find it and really want to know what brand/product it was. So if anyone knows please help me :P
Shadows were a no for me I used it to do a bit of a dramatic eye and the colors were super patchy! Maybe for a wash of color?
You crack me up, girl 😂
What’s the colour of your sweater from lulu?!? Love it on you :)
You’re not crazy! I suffered from hair loss due to covid as well!
Miss all the straight up makeup tutorials!!
so the weird thing about protien and hair is the products that add it to your hair are only good if your hair is low on protein. if your hair doesn't need it it actually ca7usues breakage.
