    I bought a Bond Grizzly a few years back in 45LC/410. After two shots of 45LC at the range the recoil slammed the back of the trigger guard into the middle joint of my middle finger so hard that it broke the knuckle. Maybe it was the size of my hand or the position of my hand but that big a load in that small a firearm kicks big time. I've seen where Bond now has a single shot derringer in 45-70 called the Cyclops which is being marketed for die hard masochists. Personally I shoot for fun, not for pain.

      Yeah, i think on their higher recoiling calibers the pinky grip should be included. I've also watched other people shoot them with no problems. Must be we're doing something wrong lol. Thanks for watching.

      You can't be serious. I fired a hot 300 grain .45 bear hunting handload out of my 3 inch Bond, with small grips. There was so much recoil that it set off the other barrel. That's 600 grains at once, and roughly 1400 foot pounds of muzzle energy, and my knuckle was fine. I could tell it got whacked, but it was fine. Maybe you're holding the grip way too high, so the recoil goes straight back, rather than rolling back. I held onto that gun with one finger on the grip. That's how you're supposed to hold a Derringer with standard grips. The extended grips are for two fingers.

      @@honorb4glory606 The stock Grizzly has extended grips made to accommodate as many as three fingers. I have fairly large hands with fingers the diameter of hot dogs so that the proximity of the middle knuckle on my middle finger was altogether too close to the back of the trigger guard. I am serious and it hurt like a bitch.

      @@jackkielty8241 nah, bro, the extended grips are for your middle and ring finger only. I've been shooting bonds for 14 years. Trust me.

    Use a weight lifting glove when you shoot it at the range. I have a 2inch 357 that gave me an abrasion on my hand after a trip to the range. Now I can shoot it all I want. I have the gun your spotlighting here, and the glove helps a lot.

      That is a good idea. I’ll have to give it a try. Thank you.

    I think this is an interesting prepper gun - with the interchangeable barrels you can get access to a wide range of calibers in a lightweight, relatively cheap package (especially now that they have rough-finished guns)

      Agreed. Very versatile. I haven’t started buying other barrels yet but I will😁

    Something to remember is that the original Remington Model 95, the archetype derringer most people see in their head when they think of a derringer, was only ever chambered in .41 Short rimfire. This round had a muzzle energy of around 100 foot pounds. An equivalent modern load would be something like a Remington .38 Special Wadcutter, which produces about 100 foot pounds out of a 2 inch barrel. That's a very very light shooting round. I think anything too far above that is going to be difficult to shoot accurately in a derringer. I've seen a dozen videos of people shooting Bond Arms derringers and really struggling to hit anything with the more powerful cartridges. But there's also a video of someone shooting a .22 LR version at pretty ridiculous ranges for a derringer and getting hits on steel. These guns are accurate. But the recoil impulse with such a tiny gun with such tiny grips makes people woefully inaccurate. I'd like to get a Bond Arms derringer at some point but if I do I'll probably get a .38 Special version and only ever run wadcutters through it.

      I have since made my own slightly larger grips. When I do carry it, I carry 38 special. I'd like to get where I can be relatively accurate with 357 mag, but in reality, it's more of a fun gun for me. I want to buy more barrels for it as well so I can shoot different calibers.

    If worn in a cross draw (a driving holster), it is a great anti carjacking gun. Its very fast to access and to use to fight to your primary in other situations. I carry 2 j frames and a Stinger in 38.

    I've got a bond but that might be a little far for me to shoot. Derringer bullets will tumble and cause some inaccuracy. I got a roughneck 38/357 and I bought the barrel for a 10 mm. Mistake, 10mm is a hand cannon, I wish I would have got a 40 cal. Bond is the best derringer going.

    • @FlashinthePan82
      @FlashinthePan82  Год назад

      Agreed. Bond is the best. I can imagine 10mm being crazy. Where did you buy the extra barrel from? On the website it said you have to go through a dealer. I would like to try 9mm or maybe 45acp. Love the idea of just swapping barrels. Such a fun gun.
