- Like many children who left their shoes filled with grass for camels on the eve of January 6th... Michi has A LOT of questions about Los Reyes Magos (Three Kings). And Flor has to explain it all.
What are your traditions for Three Kings Day if you celebrate?

About Jenny Lorenzo:
Ya Yenny llego! Welcome to the official channel of Jenny Lorenzo. I'm a tiny Cuban-American geek from Miami who is also your abuela. I now reside in Los Angeles where I helped kickstart Latin content at BuzzFeed with 'Pero Like' and continued on to produce for We Are Mitú. I have now ventured on my solo journey as a comedic actor and
content creator, doing comedy sketches around being Latinx including my characters Abuela, Maruchi, Laritza, Flor and Michi. You can also find me doing vlogs, collabs, unboxings, and SO much more! Don’t forget to subscribe and enable all push notifications so you never miss an update from your fave Latina. Thanks for supporting, mi gente!
For all her nervous nature, Flor is such a good mom trying to answer all of Michi's questions and concerns.
She was probably the best mother of all three of Abuela's kids.
@@Walk_da_plank yes.
Gloria is selfish, self centered and a bit too much of a liar, distant and cold.
Maruchi is a little too irresponsible and always in search of Chisme, new boyfriends, and stuff...
And this the history of how Benito saved the day.
This part of the family is the best for me (after Grandmother, of course).
“In case you have any more questions for the evening, that is where babies come from.” Smooth. 😂👌🏻
Perfect way to end the video hahaha

Oh my parents lucked out. I found out from one of my friends at the age of 11. I don’t remember how he found out but he was so excited to tell our group of friends. I remember when we found out we were like eww. There’s no way our parents actually did that🤣🤣🤣
"Do other people do this? Or are we the only family? I wouldn’t be surprised."...🤣🤣🤣🤣
Same-
We did this when we lived in Germany! Wish we still did.
I celebrate the tree wise men or know has the reyes magos. Im mexican american
In Spain, every family🥰
I’ve never even heard of three kings day
“His name is Grogu.” - I need more of Nerdy Flor flavor in my life 😆
Michi: I think its time we have the talk
Flor: The talk
Michi: About men
Flor: men 😳🤯
Michi: 3 men to be exact
I'm dead 😂🤣
It's amazing how well she can play these characters of varying age ranges flawlessly.
true!!
According to Mexican tradition, Flor is now obligated to make tamales for 'Día de la Candelaria' (Candlemas day February 2nd)
This is the Way!
They're Cuban tho.
@@kevinramsey417 duh, you don´t say...
I died when Flor said, "Because you'll choke on it" about the baby in the cake! Flor reminds me of my mother and that is exactly why we never had the cake.
The gifts they gave Jesus: frankincense, that was reserved for deity and used in the temples, represents that he was a priest; gold, to signify that he was a king-(a Great king or the King of kings if kings from different parts of the world were bringing him gifts); and Myrrh, that was given to corpses, to foreshadow his death and sacrifice for us.
They gave Myrrh to the baby 😦😦😦
Damn useless gifts for an infant.
I’ve never heard of that explanation before. Wasn’t myrrh or frankincense considered an aphrodisiac in those times? I’ve heard that the Magi gave Jesus those gifts because it was all that they had and they recognized him as divine
@@dreamof_me I think it’s gonna be a mix of all of the above. Myrrh was often used as an embalming oil, but it’s a resin that comes from a tree that’s a cousin to the Boswellia species that gives us frankincense. So it could also be used for incense burning in temples. They smell really good when burned together
Thanks! People often forget that most of the objects on the Bible are really used as symbolism to support the real story or the real message. When you understand the real context in which the story is told and if is well described, it all makes sense (from the religious or biblical point). The Bible also does this in cryptic ways because, as we all know, Christians where persecuted by the Romans and a lot of the stories sometimes tell stuff that from our perspective don't makes sense but for the Christians at the time it did. The book of Revelations is a good ex. That is one of the main reasons is super weird lol.
We still celebrate 3 kings day. It was my parents favorite holiday when we were little.. one of their traditions that they grew with in Puerto Rico.. ❤️🙏
Same here plus it’s my birthday so I gotta keep the tradition! My tree is still up... 😂
@@70ren my tree is too! 😀❤️
Una pena que os arrancasen de España :(
Do they do something with candy?
I haven’t celebrated 3 kings day since the last time my grandma talked to my aunt
“In case you have any more questions for the evening, THAT is where babies come from” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I am SO going to tell that to my kids when they ask!!
I love Flor’s super high-strung nature. 😂 We can all relate to dealing with things that stress us out, but she takes it to another level. 😆
I have a theory on the age of abuela's children. I think Flor is the eldest; her having the thickest accent could be an indicative that she was a teenager when they moved from cuba, and learned English through Spanish. Her sense of fashion is very 1992, which may suggest that her adult style matured around that time, and didn't evolve afterwards. Also, Benito's hair and mustache are white. If they're the same age, (which I think is fair to assume, Flor being very conservative) that could mean that Flor is in her late fifties or early sixties. I think Maruchi is the middle child because of her not as thick but still noticeably Cuban accent (she may have been around 10 when they emmigrated to the US, so she learned some English through Spanish, but also along with it). Also Laritza is 24-25, so I'd say Maruchi is in her late forties or early fifties. That makes Gloria the youngest. She has an American accent (or fakes it) so it's likely that has lived in the States since she was very young. I don't know if this is canon, but in one of her early appearances she said she married her husband after three months of dating, so if apart from that she married young (before twenty) that could explain the age of her children (I'd say late twenties for Jamie and mid twenties for Jasleiny). I'd say Gloria is in her early or mid forties. What do you think?
@the Earl of Oxfordshire TBH I didn't expect any 😂
Gloria is the middle child and Maruchi is the youngest.
The kids’ ages seem to fluctuate. There’s an episode where Laritza and Jasleiny are in high school. I’d say currently the cousins are:
Jas: 21/22
Laritza: 22-24
Jaime: 25-27
Michi: 13-14
Kevin: 23-25
Tia Flor has the best facial expressions ever!! Iconic 😁💜
The stressed out mom look 👏🏻
I'm from Spain and didn't know that latin-american culture were SOOO similar in so many topics. It's very charming to see these scenes of typical life 😚
Wh-where did you think we got it from?
@@vianjelos I know the origins of the latin countries! But so much time pases since their independence and It just amazes me that we still have so much in common, especially social things that could change so easily and quickly
*glances at history books*....................................................................... no comment.
¿Que cosa? * Confused in Latina*
Creo que el único país Latinoamericano que NO conserva sus tradiciones Españolas es Chile. Porque tratan de ser como Estados Unidos...con Santa Claus y celebrando Halloween. Si, es patético. 😑
The "they... okay, I thought you were going to cut me off again" part... MAN, I'VE BEEN LAUGHING LIKE "LA CUATRO" FOR 10 MINUTES STRAIGHT, JUST AT THAT PART ONLY!
The cake will make me a believer 😂😂😂😂. I love that Michi's talking more in these recent videos!
I'm Andalusian and it's sooo cool to see how we share the same culture but it's different. And the plastic baby was so weird for me! We also call it roscón de reyes rather than rosca. It has a little ceramic wise men figure (whoever finds it is crowned) and a bean (it used to be the lucky thing, but now if it's in your plate, you are supposed to buy the roscón the following year)
well supposedly if you find a baby or a bean it still means luck so the tradition assumes you are going to have plenty of cash, another curios thing about the Mexican version is that some people, not all, say those babies are the children killed by Herod.
We actually put grass in a shoe box, actually never heard of it being inside an actual shoe, but i know different hispanics do things different, im from Puerto Rico 😁🇵🇷
Yo también dije lo mismo, en Puerto Rico usamos la caja de zapatos
Yup, una caja de zapatos filled with grass and a cup of water... I don’t know what the cup was for, my grandma would always put it next to the window.
Your comment is offensive! The new classification word is LatinX... not Hispanics 😂
We tied the bundles of grass and put them under the tree y la caserola de agua.. 🥰 sweet sweet memories.. the innocence of days gone by..
My boricua mom likes the shoe way. 🤷🏻♀️
"Latina mom patty cake" sent me into a fit of laughter
No one:
Absolutely no one:
Michi: This is all sus, super sus
Idk about no one. I mean it’s also every atheist and agnostic ever.
Gaspar and Melchor ride on Camels. Balthazar rides on an Elephant ‘cause he’s from Africa (or so I was told)
Their animals are a horse, camel and elephant.
My husband is from Spain and this year there were Rosco de reyes with a baby yoda inside instead of baby Jesus y Dios mio ... The newspaper headlines about religious organizations condemning those Roscos! 🤣🤣🤣
I can imagine! Were they in Barcelona? 😆
Uffff escandalo!!!
Well at least it was a baby yoda. I get alien looking babies.
Well, first of all, it's "roscón", not "rosco", and here in Spain we put inside all kind of little toys, and also a bean; whoever gets the bean has to pay the roscón.
some bakeshops at Mexico did the same thing, but unfortunatelly they were super expensive :c
In parts of Mexico we put our letter in the shoe and leave it outside for the Three Kings to get
In Italy the 3 Kings Day got mixed up with some pagan tradition and now we celebrate an old lady who brings sweets to kids... 😅😋
La Befana? oh so that'w where it came from, weird. This means Trulli Tales is trully pagan.
It's supposed to symbolize fatality. Usually, they chase the person who gets the baby through the woods. It's loads of fun, but getting the baby means you'll have a child soon.
I am Irish, and my wife is German. So how did this come about for our family? Parochial school, of course. Our kids left a carrot for the camel. Now our grandchildren do this. The shoes are filled with small toys and candy. This year, because of a miscue at Christmas, the three kings brought the stockings because Santa asked them, as an elf forgot to load them on the sleigh on Christmas eve. We also put out shoes on Dec 5, the day before St. Nicholas day, and small toys and candy appear from *him*. You don't need to leave anything out for St. Nicholas, he comes because he loves you :-) Thank you for this joy of a video.
omg.. i just realised. michi is my spirit animal. so many questions and no time and why do people not have answerssssssssss. as long as i get cake im all good 👍🏻
The end, OMG !! « That’s where babies come from » 🙄😳🤣 Jenny, this video is so brilliant !! 🤗
🤣 you made my week! In Puerto Rico, we put a shoe box underneath our beds filled with grass.
3 men? Ay Dios mio, I thought I put on the parentale controls.
🤣
I always forget that all of this characters are being played by one person 😂 thats why i love watching videos of jenny
In Spain is more popular celebrating the 3 kings day rather than christmas, and we even have parades and all the pack!
My husband had to have the three kings talk with his parents when he was 11 and they moved to America. He caught his dad tossing away soggy hay the day after three kings day.
Michi is so me as a kid. I asked questions about EVERYTHING knowing the logic was sus 😆😆😆😆
I LOVE how Flor says "Yes", so much so, I now use it.
"Trying to one up santa claus" LMAO🤣
“Is Santa aware of this... activity going on?” - Michi 2021 ❤️ with lots of love
Here's another masterpiece by the talented Jenny and her crew!
Los Reyes Magos. In Argentina little kids leave out grass and water to "give" to the camels the 3 wise men were on and the reyes in turns leave a little presents in the kids shoes.
In Uruguay the night before, children put up some grass and water for the camels rest when they arrive, instead they leave gifts for them!!!! So they wake up on january the 6th. To find it, next to the empty bowl of grass and water.....😉
I knew Flor was going to be Yelling in this one 😂🤣😂😂 Men!!!?? I loved it Jenny! ❤️🙂
Oh great my daughter saw this and asked my Mom (her Nicaraguan grandmother) what the three kings day was? Now Mom is planning to celebrate it next year. LOL
Oh my...I was a Michi: so curious and super preguntona. Questioning everything!🤣😅
I got REALLY into the lore surrounding the magi because of my (ironically) heathen spirituality! Star-gazing, moon phase and planet tracking, and astronomy-based astrology (ex: my rising sign is Ophiuchus, and the "traditionalists" can die mad if they wanna be mad) are all part of my faith practices, and so I ended up creating a whole set of correspondences based around the most iconic star-study-buffs globally thought of: the magi!
Happy Dia de los Reyes
Ahahaha "in case you have any more questions for the evening, that is where babies come from" 🤣 I'm dying hahahaha
Michi ha hecho todas las preguntas que no sabía que yo tenía también... a mis 22 años! !
Wow Im from Chile and I had heard of the celebration of the 3 reyes magos and the baby Jesus on a cake, but did not know what they were. It is very entertaining to get to know more Christmas traditions.
Oh por Jesus Maria y Jose y el burrito sabanero! I almost choked of laughter at first with "the talk". My parents never did it because I was little I saw a documentary that explained how babies were made and also read about it in a parental planning book that my mother had when she was pregnant, el librito ese era muy grafico y explicito, que escandalo! XD
''I thought that I put the parental controls on the iPad!'' lmao ı was dying out of laughter. 😂
She pulled out the baby Jesus figure from the rosca, now she must pay the tamales in the day of candelaria.
Yup, you just played yourself.
He aquí el Roscón de Reyes
tradición de un gran banquete,
en el cual hay dos sorpresas
para los que tengan suerte.
En él hay, muy bien ocultas,
un haba y una figura;
el que lo vaya a cortar
hágalo sin travesura.
Quien en la boca se encuentre
una cosa un tanto dura,
a lo peor es el haba,
o a lo mejor la figura.
Si es el haba lo encontrado
este postre pagarás,
mas si ello es la figura
coronado y rey serás.
We got candy inside our shoes, the presents for the camels were left outside! (Im from Spain) And inside the roscon we have one of teh kings figure and a bean. If you find the king you are king or queen for a day (there is a paper crown in the roscon box) and if you find the bean you have to pay the roscon
¡ Increíble ! Soy del Sur de Francia, y aquí comemos exactamente el mismo pastel para los reyes magos, con las frutas escarchadas y todo. 🙂🙂
And this right here is why I enjoy the characters of Flor and Michi. It's wholeome and...so in line with their personalities.
Los 3 Reyes Magos!!!!! Que alegría!!!! No perdamos ésta tradición!!!🥰
Love how I’m watching this just as I’m taking off all the Christmas decor. Great way to end Christmas! Thanks for the laughs❤️
One year when I was a kid I left 2 buckets full of grass clippings and water inside the house for the camellos 😂 I was super into it
Carajos me reí demasiado con este contenido. Mil gracias mi vida, saludos desde la isla del encanto.
A compartirlo a mi madre que eres la mismita.
I've watched so much Jenny Lorenzo, that the wix ads I get are in spanish
“At least the reindeer land on the roof” - hilarious!
Some bakers in Mexico put little grogus instead of niñitodioses in the roscas this year. Unsurprisingly Catholics weren't very happy about it.
This was so great on so many levels! Really made my day! 😊
Babies are born in a Rosca, ok, thank you for explaining it to me Tia Flor
Everybody tomen nota, le tocan los tamales a la tía Flor at Candelaria day
Lol yes, at the end of the video I heard Flor's voice in my head yelling "we need to give this house una limpiezaaaa!" before the party on February 2nd. 😂
Michi is my favorite character. But when i see them together, i only admire the incredible work that you do
" does Jesús approve of this? " 😂
The mom knowing baby yodas real name made me love her as my own.
Excellent... Brought back so many memories... My son was exactly like Michi! So curious. 🤣😂
Always know its gonna be a good day when you post new content. I live for these videos.
K, last video I couldn't decide. But Michi is gunning for first place as favorite character, because I relate so hard with the curiosity and questioning and precociousness like fuuuu that's me as a 9-year-old and if I was Cuban 😭😭
So funny! In Argentina we leave the grass in a bowl next to the water and the shoes. They put the gifts on the shoes. And everything goes next to the entrance door because ... you know ... camels wouldn't be able to enter the house. 😅
I love it when Flor spazzes out 😂 😂 😂
Jenny, I've been learning Spanish. I watch your videos to help me. However it became very clear to me that I cant roll my R's. Im immensely jealous at how beautifully you do it. 🖤
I also am learning Spanish and after a year or so I could finally do it. Keep practicing, you will get there!
@@cellgrrl That gives me hope!! Thank you 😊
@@indiafox5786 I have found several videos on RUclips that try to help. Some are better than others. But one might be just what you need. Also listen, listen, listen. That gets your brain accustomed to the sound;, eventually the tongue will follow. For me there are still some words that are still hard to say because of the vowels that come before and after, such as "perro".
@@cellgrrl I've been walking around my house trying to say perro and cera for the last two days lol!! I use the app duolingo which has been a huge help to be honest. I've watched a few videos on how to roll your tongue, and some of them are just like "you have to play around with the roof of your mouth and tongue. Get the correct pressure. " and I sit there thinking "this isn't helping me at all" lol
@@indiafox5786 LOL. You know what? I think sometimes we pressure ourselves too much. I have found if I don't think about it, I will just automatically do it. At any rate, good on you for attempting to get it right, and if you are off a bit, people will still understand you. If your tongue starts getting sore, time to take a break!
That beginning had me in stitches! So hilarious! I love it.
Awesome!! 🤣🤣 I love how Michi is the super-curious over-intelligent little kid putting her parents in these awkward situation with all those super-logical questions 🤣🤣
But still naive enough to believe
@@LindaC616 yes, but You know, endless curiosity and little knowledge. That's very well portrait here :)
everytime a bell rings, an angel gets its wings. everytime a cake is made, a baby is born
Rosca de Reyes!!!! Love it! Reminds me of the commercial where it’s Santa vs los reyes magos! 😂
I never knew about Three Kings Day until this video! What fun!
Uy, le tocan los tamales a Flor p'al día de la Candelaria jejeje. This whole video cracked me up so much, I can't...
"I thought I'd put the parental controls on the iPad!!"
"BECAUSE YOU WILL CHOKE ON THE BABY... TINY, PLASTIC, LITTLE BABY"
"You're such a nerd"
"In case you have any more questions for the evening, that is where babies come from"
HAHAHA!! I love your ideas so much, Jenny! Thank you for the laughs!
Y feliz día de reyes!! :D
I have these questions too. We never did the three kings thing when I was a kid.
Haha! My dad’s birthday is on Three Kings’ Day (Epiphany). Love your channel Jenny Lorenzo 💕
I Love Your Shows!!!
Happy New Year🥂🎉
Thank you for the subtitles ✊🌸
Thank you for making this! It was hilarious and so clever!!
RON MAGILL 🤣😂 has anyone else noticed that he stopped aging after 1999?
I hate to admit it but I think I am Flor. A very high strung nerd late bloomer.
Also I want a tres reyes cake!
In Jalisco, if you get the plastic baby Jesus in your slice of cake, you have to throw a party.
Michi doing the Laritza *Ayyyyyy" was everything I needed
I get the feeling michi asked all these questions just so she could get a cake.
But actually, being non-Catholic, i actually learned some things today. I knew when 3 kings day is but I didn't know much else. about it. Thanks Michi and Flor! 😊
“I thought I put the parental controls on the iPad 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I always forget she does all the characters!
I love how Flor gets all the sci-fi references
HAPPY THREE KINGS DAY!
I love the mom character! Magos means "mages", or learned persons in this case, for anyone who wants to know - not wizards, lol. 😂
I literally have a very similar conversation with my 11 years old a few days ago 🤣🤣 Hilarious!
As a Jewish person, this has a very similar and also completely different energy to us leaving a glass of wine outside for Elijah the Prophet
This is amazing. Some of your best work 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love this!
Love these!!! Thank you!
¡Felicitaciones atrasadas por el día de Reyes! Qué a todo dar que hayas hecho un episodio sobre eso. x) Además de camello, yo sabía que Baltazar iba en elefante y Melchor en caballo. Qué rico la rosca. Provechito.
