Why do these panels need a RAM battery? How come other brands of panels don't need this? Also I'm considering getting a Notifier Onyx series panel. Are they pretty collector friendly? Thanks!
The reason they need a ram battery is so when the panel is unplug the notifier database does not get erased (aka the config files) also other brands don't need this because some use PROM instead of NVRAM which is what notifier uses. Also, as long as you aren't getting a DVC for an onyx panel I'd say it's pretty collector friendly, devices are just abit pricey
@@Roxxofoxxo Ok thanks for answering. I have a few more questions if you are OK answering them. 1. I can program everything with the keypad except a DVC? 2. Do fire lite and edwards use prom and not need a RAM battery? 3. To replace a RAM battery, I would only lose programming I did if I don't back it up with Verifier tools? Would this also erase the firmware? And I can only use Notifier addressable devices? Thanks again!
Yes you can program everything though the keypad besides a dvc. 2. No they do not. 3. if you needed to replace your Nvram battery you would only loose your programming options and you would need re program the panel. No firmware would be erased. If your Nvram battery is dead if the panel if powered up the programming options will still be on there and will only be erased if you fully power down the panel without an NVRAM battery
It's np!!! And I got mines new. If you get a nfs2-640 new it does not come with a keypad nor cabinet. Only the CPU and power supply and resitors and bettery cables
Should I do a notifier nfs2-640 programming guide next or nah?
Ya you should
@@mimi2 I think I'll be the first one if I do, do a full programming guide
Can the pre-discharge allow Pulse as its countdown or not?
Nope there's only continuous or marchtime
@@Roxxofoxxo Oh. The Fenwal ones allow you to use that. What does it allow for discharge?
Oh cool!
@@Roxxofoxxo What does the NFS2-640 have for coding options on discharge?
Continous only
