Michelle's "Bodyguard soundtrack track 9" is 'It's Gonna Be A Lovely Day' by SOUL SYSTEM, and was a really really big song in the early 90's and is considered a classic by the 40+ crowd. It was C & C Music Factory, Michelle, and another I can't remember. The song got a ton of play in a ton of diff markets as it sampled Bill Withers 'Lovely Day', so I remember even my parents loving the song. I remember it being used a lot as a club "cool down" song, end of the night etc. It was a group gig - it wasn't known as a Michelle Visage song, but it IS a really great track.
Re: the "unconventionally attractive" woman. I've had a similar experience. Men never spoke to me at bars except maybe to say hello if they were speaking to my friends. They'd chat up my pretty friends, buy them drinks, etc. Me, the fat one with glasses? It was like I was invisible. They couldn't even bother to make small talk if my friends stepped away for a minute. It's not that I even wanted these men, but I agree it's dehumanizing. I'd feel uncomfortable if I were her, too.
There will always be people who ignore u, or don’t acknowledge your presence. You’ve probably been a person like that to someone else w/o even realizing it. About the accent topic: I had a similar problem with a friend of mine. What made them step back, realize it was problematic/racist and stop was when I said, "Would you do that accent to that person's face?" Most likely the answer is no, and they need to sit with why that is.
Then all races should not imitate accents. Not just yt people. Too many people get away with things because they say anyone not yt can't be/do racist things

From my understanding, prejudice refers to a preconceived idea about a particular group, while racism involves an unequal distribution of power on the basis of race. While anyone can be prejudice, in the USA only Yt ppl can be racist.
But in regard to my op, I never specified the racial identity of my friend. I gave my experience to shed perspective on that type of confrontation.

For the hair loss person, I’ve been on Finasteride for over a year (and Minoxidil ointments as an added precaution). My hair stopped thinning, and is now as thick and glorious as ever. It did thin out for a couple of months (a natural rapid shedding process when you start the treatment) and was frightening - could literally see my scalp all over for a hot minute. All grew back though and it’s better than before. It was also scary reading about the (very rare) possible side effects. It works for me though.
Michelle isn’t on “(You're My One and Only) True Love”. C&C Factory used Martha Wash’s voice on the song and used Michelle and her girls as video candy. There was a lawsuit at the time.

The thing about California paying for everything for trans people isn't like 100% accurate. Insurance companies and the state can still deny certain procedures that are part of transitioning as "cosmetic" and then you won't be able to get it covered. Also things like FFS you really want to pick your own surgeon. Often times you HAVE to pick a specific surgeon that is in network and it really limits your options and wait times. The wait times can be absolutely insane I mean 1-2 years. California is probably one of the best states if not the best state to transition in no questions ask but you cannot get 100% of your transition covered by the state. You can probably get your bottom surgery and MAYBE FFS if you qualify covered. But again anybody getting major facial reconstruction surgery is going to want to pick their own surgeon and also do it on a timeline that best suits them.
I am not trans but I used to work in California and the company that I worked at had a separate trans fund that covered things not covered by our insurance provider. I talked to a lot of coworkers who even after insurance and after the money our company offered still had to pay about 10k out of pocket. It is expensive and FFS and bottom surgery aren't the only part of some people's transitioning.
HOWEVER, that is a lot of fucking money and it plenty to get very good doctors and get all of the necessary work done even in the US. Some people do go to other countries to have these surgeries done because it's a lot cheaper. Transitioning is very expensive even with insurance and even living in a state like California.

I had alopecia areata and went mostly bald. 17 and looked like Friar Tuck. That was late 90s/00s and my then boyfriend now husband of way too fucking long would. never. Bring that much more attention. We'd be at parties and people would joke why I'm wearing a toque and it's almost 40c. Or pulling it off. Better be sure I could handle myself and would be SO embarrassed if he would've acted to "defend me" violently over some dough head joke.

For the person losing hair, you don’t need to get surgery! There’s a new treatment that they do at a lot of med spas and they use your own plasma and mix it with some other thing and Inject wherever you need it! It’s in treatments and I think it’s chePer than surgery. It’s called PRP hair restoration ❤️

Regarding the plantation weddings - Auschwitz comparison thing... I'm Jewish and I find it hard to see the problem with this. It's another way to say "this is just as fucked up and racist as this other obviously fucked up racist (made up) thing" and it's kinda funny. Not sure I get Bob's point here... but I never gave it much thought before. In general most Jewish people use humor in some kind of way to deal with the trauma of 2nd world war... maybe I'm just desensitized to it.
