Definitely should paint the sunroom doors, the color is great! You might want to paint or stain your wood chairs black and put your wicker chairs at each head of the table. It is a process but it’s looking beautiful!

I think the doors would be beautiful painted and would stand out nicely against the chairs. Everything is beautiful, as always! I do feel like the hutch in the dining room would look better on the big wall (where your grandpa's table used to be) and the shelves would be better where the hutch is. So, flip flopped I guess. It would be even more work though. I just feel like it might give you a more balanced feel, if that makes sense. That being said, your home always looks so inviting!

Like minds....I agree with these ladies. And you never need to apologize for a lived in home. We all do and I think it helps us to see others don't live in "staged homes". And you can brag all day long about those gorgeous floors. The picture frame of the wood is so special. Lucky and blessed. So, I've been looking for a large and two small vintage prints or paintings of landscapes. We have nothing here. I live in Toledo OH and the Goodwill is terrible and the Antique Mall is very pricey with little art. So, I'm on the Michigan/Ohio border. Can you suggest any stores in Lower -maybe southeast Michigan?

  • @leem200

Never apologize for toys in your home, it is meant to be lived in and children need to live in a home. You have a beautiful home and if things are out of place, it truly is a wonderful thing. Relax and enjoy the stages of life with children for it flees quickly. One day you will not need to pick up after them for they will have spread their wings to live on their own. It will be but a memory. Peace! Homes are meant to be lived in. Embrace it. A book on the floor, a baby gym, and cards with love all over them is the best decor, its priceless.

  • @Frook52

I would eventually paint the door. Love the no curtains. Your home is beautiful and thank you for letting us give you ideas - that makes this so much fun. You and your husband did a wonderful job on the floors and the table is awesome - has the table had a wood oil put on it, that is good on old wood. My only suggestion would be to put the hutch on the walls with the shelves and stack the shelves where the hutch is now. Seems like the big hutch is on cramped in the corner and the shelves seem small for that big wall. But I know you will have it looking stunning by the time you have all the finishing touches. Oh, and yes on bringing the paint color into the kitchen!! Adore you, your family and your home.

My husband and I moved into our 1908 house the year after we were married. Now 51 years later, it is still a work in progress...so don't rush Andrea. You ask for opinions, so here goes. I really like the StingRay paint colour, it adds depth and character. If you extend it into your kitchen it will give a more unified look, although what is in the kitchen blends just fine. I actually like your current dining room chairs; perhaps the "yellowness" could be bleached out. Windsor chairs painted black would add interest. The wicker chairs are beautiful, but to my eye they have always been too heavy for that space. I'd like to see the return of your grandfather's chest, especially if the wicker chairs are not on that same wall. The floors are lovely and there is no need for the bigger, living room rug. Great coffee table and I really like that the window seat bench in the sunroom matches the floors. No need for curtains, unless you need them for privacy or to stop drafts.

Again, I totally agree here. This helped me remember what you asked. I prefer no curtains, but where I have to have some, I only use sheer panels so the light pours in. Coffee table is great. The paint color is perfect. We just had a bath renovated and what took the longest to decide -paint. Three trips before we decided on SW Light French Gray. I find gray is so difficult, but we lucked out. Perfect with all the tile and cabinets. I didn't want blue, green or brown undertones with the tile. Live with the paint awhile before you decide whether or not to paint kitchen.

Yes paint the French doors and continue trim into the entryway.
I’m the same way about curtains and what I have started to do is take them down part of the year when I feel like I need more light then I put them back up when I want it to be more cozy like the fall and winter time. I enjoy the change of atmosphere.

I loved your home tour, thank you so much! Love your floors & new placement of arm chairs. I know your decor style & colours are well considered but it looks so naturally put together. Love your new trim colour, I don’t feel you need to paint your french doors, as they match all your windows. I adore your wicker baskets with art work hung over them, perfect for that corner! The ladder on the other side seems out of proportion in its height being the same as the wainscoting. I feel some added height in decor pieces would be nice on top of your new dining room dresser. I think I agree with what others have said about moving it to the larger wall & maybe bring back your grandad’s cabinet with your shelves above on the smaller wall? Perhaps the wicker chairs could go at either end, with 2 chairs down each side? I have only offered my opinions as they were asked for, but absolutely adore your channel, your enthusiasm, & your ability to achieve so much!!! Grateful greetings from Australia!

First off, never apologize for things being out of place. You're a mom of 4, therefore it shouldn't be perfect. It shows a sign of life, and love in your home. Everything looks so beautiful. I love the, did you say 'stingray', for the color of your trim & board & batten? I think it's perfect. In my opinion, I wouldn't paint the French doors. But maybe that's cause I love white French doors. The trim around them frames the doors perfectly. I also think the arch by your entry way should be left white. Where stingray is a beautiful color, it's still darker than the white on your walls. You mentioning that your home is small, needs enough white, to keep it open and airy. I love your cute coffee table. So perfect for games. In your dining room, I love that hutch. And your hubby did a great job on the table. Do you have anymore of the barn wood left? Could your hubby possibly make 4 chairs for you? Or 2 benches that would match your table? Did you put any kind of protection on the table? I live the color of your kitchen. I think it being left that color gives it its own room, but doesn't clash with the stingray. They compliment each other. At least on my screen. However, when all is said and done, your home has always, and will always be beautiful. Mostly because it has so much love inside. One last thing, your floors are stunning. What color did you use in them? I would love to have real hard wood floors. I doubt you're still reading this. Sorry for it being so long.

Those floors are fabulous. The colors are so soothing. I’d definitely paint that trim color on to your French doors. It would make them pop beautifully. I wouldn’t add curtains back. A small room doesn’t need them and the shades provide enough privacy. As for the chairs for your dining room, I think ladder back thrush seats would be lovely and would be cohesive with your wicker chairs. Those could be at the ends of the tables and the ladder backs on either side. You have a wonderful home and a great eye for design.

Love your "collected" decor, love your home & your gentle spirit! Thank you for being "real" even if it means letting us see a little mess or clutter! And it's no small feat to raise a family and keep the chaos to a minimum! I have always found that I don't tire of "collected" decor like I do the "new" store bought items, even if they are previously loved & worn.
Keep inspiring people to thrift and enjoy the "journey" of a 'collected' home that reflects who you are and what's important to you. The "hunt" is part of the fun of decorating!

Yes, on the Windsor chairs. The wood of the dining table and hutch appears to have some honey tones. On your wall with the shelves, or decor on THAT side of the room with a gold or honey tone might help to balance the room? There is weight from the table in the middle, there is height and weight from the hutch on one side of the room, and on the other side, there is very little to counterbalance those two large items. It’s tough because monitors vary, etc. the floors are amazing! Would love to redo my orange floors from the 50’s.

Yes..paint the doors..they will pop off the white chairs...think carrying the color into foyer will make it uniform. Love how it's looking...floors r gorgeous...just moving some things can make a room look new again!

Yes. Paint the doors. What about placing the hutch on the wall between the shelves. It is lovely yet looks a bit heavy in the corner.
The corner cabinet could even go back.
    Blessings and enjoy your journey.

Andrea your home is so beautifully charming..no need for apologies. You are a busy mom..we all get it!! I agree completely with you about decorating your home with vintage pieces !! They makee a house a home. Oh..the french doors.paint to match the trim!!😊

Try the hutch in the area between the wall shelves, it would make a beautiful focal point as you enter the dining room and it wouldn’t be competing with the double window- try you’re granddads piece where you now have the hutch with a mirror- then it would reflect the hutch. Definitely paint the French doors🙂

Love, love how you and your husband have transformed your home. I think that using the same color of trim throughout the downstairs would look lovely. I really liked the way the corner hutch and your grandfather's dresser looked in the dinning room. The proportions seemed so perfect for that room. Have you thought about using the large hutch in your family room downstairs? How about using it to store school supplies for the boys?

Beautiful. I think you should paint the french doors. I do miss the table/buffet you had in the dining room. It was lovely and fit your space so well.

I like the doors white and I like the baskets too. If you keep the dining chairs, I would paint wooden chairs white and add grey cushion on those.

I love the new colour and definitely paint the doors to match and paint the kitchen trim too. It will feel more cohesive. Thanks for sharing. OH, and yeah sand down that table a bit more, it will make it look cleaner too! I am not a fan of too rustic. The hutch is just right as for rustic. I love the chairs off the wall too. I agree a beautiful chandelier would be a perfect touch. Curtains or no curtains, you really could go either way. Beautiful home :) Hello from Canada !!

It takes time to complete big projects. Even longer to find the perfect decor. Take your time so you can get what you love. I like the new paint color and think it would be so nice if you carried it into the kitchen. Don't apologize for everyday living because it's reality. I think it sets a good example for other busy moms and helps them feel better about their not so perfect homes.

Oooh … I’m so glad you got that village scene. I thought it was perfect. I love the new color extension and agree you should paint the french doors to match. The chairs pulled forward are perfect. You have such a great design sense, as many of us have said many times.

Andrea, I love your new living room layout, the color you have chosen for the trim and board and batten, as well as your new furniture pieces. Your floors are gorgeous!
Personally, I would leave the French doors to the sun room white, but the board and batten should be continued on that wall, and painted as the existing board and batten. I, too, love the simplicity without the curtains.
You are so correct. Decorating takes time, it's a process. Take your time as you incorporate your love into your home.

Yes, I would paint the French doors. The wall with shelves I would rethink. The shelves feel a bit small and high. And I would love to see drapes ( just simple panels that don’t close). They could be an airy open weave very light weight and neutral color. just something that “dresses the window”. No statement just a finishing touch. I think leaving the windows without drapes doesn’t keep with the cottage warm feel, just too “in” or “of the moment”. Just my opinion (which is worth what you paid for it) lol 😂 . The dining chairs…you are right the others are too light weight and yellow looking for the mass of the table. Like the idea of placing the wicker chairs at either end. You’ll find the right chairs. It truly is a lovely home. Your careful thoughtful consideration in decorating your home shows. You and your husband have much to be proud of.

I think the French doors look good like they are with the contrasting going on. The stingray paint looks good so I would probably carry it thru to the kitchen.

Good morning, Andrea. I just recently found your channel. I am so amazed to see ALL that you do! What a testimony you and your husband are for the Lord in so many ways!! You are doing a wonderful job. It looks beautiful(especially with the Legos and crayons)!! You really don’t need any advice. However, you’re right, we kinda get stuck. So, I might suggest, a large sized print on the wall where your dining table is. Something similar to the vintage prints above your baskets. It would not only be a beautiful focal point for the room, but, since you have a lot of solids, it would add some pattern/contrast and bring interest, while still “blending “ with everything else. Also, don’t worry, you will “find” and figure out all of the things to complete your home!❤️

Your home is absolutely gorgeous everything has turned out so nice. I agree with some of the other ladies regarding the hutch , but I also believe in styling your home in the way that pleases you , for me that is what is the most important in my book. Love the furniture arrangement with bringing the chairs closer in, loving the baskets stacked in the corner and the photos above them have created a sweet vignette . Painting the board and batten that beautiful color has created warmth and depth. I just love it all. Thank you for sharing real life with us, the balance is welcoming…. Take care.❤️

Dining Room Idea: Take down two shelves and replace them with the sign that is over the sofa in the living room. Use the shelves, stacked, on the other empty wall, or leave the wall empty. The sign won't get knocked with traffic going through that area, like the shelves might.

I LOVE your home, and I like the realness (is that a word? ) I absolutely LOVE your floors and the hutch. It's such a homey cozy view when you walk in. I would paint the french doors like you said, but it looks good as is too. Painting the other trim would tie it all together. Your home has a European feel to it.
