Enrique "Kiké" Hernández started both rallies, and the Dodgers took advantage of errors and defensive misplays on the part of the Yankees. Aaron Judge took his eye off the ball to anticipate his throw to 2nd or 1st base to keep Kiké in check, but that was enough to lose sight of the ball and drop it; he also tried to catch the ball lower than eye level, which is trickier than catching it at eye level or higher. Shortstop Anthony Volpe didn't have a very good play except to 3rd base as Edman likely got a good jump. So he rushed a throw to Jazz Chisholm, but Jazz only started playing 3rd base this season, and Kiké Hernández was sliding hard to try to break up the play. All of these combined resulted in an error charged to Volpe. One error is uncommon in the major leagues, but two in consecutive at-bats is absolutely shocking, it's like Little League stuff. Gerrit Cole, being the badass Yankees ace he is, proceeded to strike out Gavin Lux and Shohei Ohtani. First baseman Anthony Rizzo fielded a ground ball from Mookie Betts. Cole started running towards first base (he later said he was trying to cut off the ball but misread it), then stopped and pointed at first base, directing Rizzo to run to first and get Mookie out. The problem, though, was Rizzo was further from the bag than the last time the same play happened, and he couldn't beat Mookie to the bag. Cole may have been tired at this point, he probably should have continued running to first to ensure the out, who knows. And through that entire disaster of an inning, Yankees manager Aaron Boone appears to have forgotten the one thing that could have changed the momentum of the game: Visit the mound and give Cole a moment to catch his breath and assure him that he's got this, it's just one run, let's get that third out. This is in contrast with the bottom of the 8th inning, when Dodgers manager Dave Roberts visited the mound to check on Blake Treinen, then walked back to the dugout after Treinen confidently assured him he could get to 3 outs. You might hear fans and commentators say that all 5 Dodger runs scored in the 5th are "unearned" runs. What they mean is, by the time the Dodgers score their runs, there would be 3 or more outs were it not for the errors or passed balls committed, so Cole would not be considered responsible for those runs (the offensive team _scores_ runs, the pitcher _earns_ runs under normal circumstances). Judge's dropped ball should have been out number 1, and Volpe's botched throw to Chisholm should have been out number 2. Cole then struck out two, making it "should have been four" outs, so any runs scored at that point are automatically "unearned". It's just a statistical distinction to compare the strengths of pitchers through a number called an "earned run average" or ERA, which calculates the average number of runs a pitcher earns per 9 innings. The lower this number, the better a pitcher is, usually. So even though Cole gave up 2 hits after the misplay with Rizzo, his ERA won't go up as a result. And that, gents, is how the Dodgers became the first team in history to come back from a deficit of 5 runs and clinch the World Series victory. Buehler was the starter who pitched the gem in game 3 and they brought him in to close the game on one days rest. That’s why they said he hasn’t come out of the pen since 2018.

Then it dawned on me so if example they failed to win game 5 and are forced to go back to LA for game 6, Yamamoto will be the starter. This was confirmed to be true by an article in which Dodgers management were already planning at around the 4th inning of chartering a flight to bring Yamamoto back to LA even if the game is still going on so that he can rest sooner and get prepared for game6. Good thing the 5th inning happened. In addition other then Buehler only the 4 other guys who pitched in game 4 were available and unfortunately i think Dave considered those 4 to be lower leverage pitchers unlike the other pitchers who were already used in the game.
Dodgers played their ass off, I really don’t think any team could’ve beat them this year. They’ve been on fire… just great chemistry on and off the field. Well deserved series! 🇺🇸⚾️🧢💙⚾️🫶🏼
I usually don't like sloppy baseball because I know how it feels when the Dodgers get into a comedy of errors. But I found it _very_ funny and satisfying when I clicked "Vote for the Player of the Game" on the MLB website, and Aaron Judge topped the list. "Yep," I thought, "he certainly played well for the Dodgers this game."
That misplay between Cole and Rizzo only cost them 1 run, he could have gotten Freeman out and that would have ended the inning. Instead Cole gave up a base hit (2 runs), then a double to Teo (2 more runs). The only consolation Cole can get from the 5th inning is that his ERA remained pristine.
@@MMuraseofSandvich Yup. Rizzo passed up the easy out, which would have been the second out. That takes away the sac fly from the Dodgers. I think Volpe wanted a shut out to make a statement. Instead of making a statement, he should have been thinking about fundamentals and thrown to first for the easy out.
1:38 - This is the same exact play that later happens in the 5th inning. Rizzo takes it to the base himself. 8:29 - Cole probably assumes that Rizzo takes it himself again, he doesn’t.
I just noticed that as well! And while Cole should have covered first base in the 5th inning, Rizzo should have at least tried to beat Betts to first base when he looked up to toss the ball and no one was there, but he didn’t even try. Rizzo gave up. It should have been a foot race by both Cole and Rizzo to first base.
@@oaktree1628 Rizzo also chose a poor angle of attack in fielding the grounder. He waited for the ball to come to him, rather than moving towards the ball. If he had been charging it, he’d have been closer to first base and already have a running start. I think there was poor communication, as well. They weren’t on the same page. I think something similar happened with the missed throw to third base by Volpe to Chisholm. Chisholm wasn’t expecting the throw because normally you’d throw to first to get the certain out. They weren’t communicating or Chisholm would have been ready. The time to communicate is before the play. “If this happens, I’m going to do this.” The criticism of “talent over fundamentals” applies here. Volpe was thinking about a shut out to humiliate the Dodgers when he should have been thinking about getting the easy out.
@@oaktree1628, maybe, since I don't believe they even want to bring back Soto. If I were them, I'd try to deal Judge and keep Soto. I'd rather have a guy who performs well in both the regular season and postseason.

I bought tickets for Game 6 (Nov 1) about a week and a half before the World Series began (October 15). They were actually on sale for all 4 of the final playoff teams (Dodgers, Mets, Yankees and Guardians). They are not sold as a package, you have to buy individually, although if you're a Season Ticket holder, you may buy tickets for all of your team's home World Series games if you choose, and you get first dibs before the general public does. If your team didn't make it or the games were not played, you get a refund. I got my Game 6 refund a week later (Nov 8).
Despite the Yankees having the 3rd best regular season record, they were not the best or hottest team. Mets, Padres were much tougher and the Dodgers far superior. The Yankees are heavy on home run hitters but lacked the bottom of the order talent. They are a slower lumbering team. Dodgers a better small ball, gritty, grinding team with great base running. They have big bats too but defense, pitching was better despite having four starts injured.
Tbh i felt Padres Series in the NLDS is the hardest series for them. Padres were leading 2 games to 1 and forced the dodgers to the brink of elimination too bad their bats went cold after game 3 3rd inning. Mets were hot unfortunately Dodgers clawing out of the DS against padres made them tougher hungrier and grittier. Then the yankees who were seen to have an easier path to the WS since both the DS and CS were against both AL central teams in which the yankees own. In addition, an article about the dodgers pre game meeting in which highlighted on how bad the yankees base running, their fielding and stuff and knew if need be they need to play small ball and will have a good chance to beat the yankees

Dude, NY fans don't root for both NY teams. They're either Yankee fans or Mets fans and they hate the other team. It's the same with all other teams in one state. No one will respect you if you're rooting for more than one team in one state.
Probably most Mets fans did watch, but I’m sure there were a few that were understandably still in their feelings. So what? I do know that there were a lot of supportive Mets fans that were rallying behind the Dodgers. No doubt they’re back to hating L.A., but it was nice to have them on board for the series.
The Dodgers scouting report advised them to put the ball in play and run the bases aggressively. That would give the Yankees a chance to play poor defense and inflict self harm. The fifth inning of this game is now being called the worst defensive performance I'm World Series history.
I'm a season ticket holder for the dodgers. You have to purchase ALL potential home games for playoffs and world series at once. Then whatever home game does not get played you will be refunded. So it's a pretty penny you have to cough up. You cannot ask to purchase a specific amount or series.

He waited for the ball to come to him rather than moving towards the ball. If he was charging the ball, he’d have the forward momentum to take him to first base. It’s still Cole’s fault, but it was lackadaisical on Rizzo’s part. It’s like both they thought that the out was a foregone conclusion, so neither needed to hustle.
I know you guys are new to baseball but that play at first, the pitcher (Gerritt Cole in this case) really should have been at the base covering rather than stopping and directing traffic. Had he been there it would have been out 3 and it would have stayed 5-0 but then it allowed a run and then he was clearly gassed/thrown off because he allowed 2 more hits that got 4 runs in.
You can't give a team like the Dodgers a three mistakes in one inning. The Yankees emploded and the Dodgers took advantage of it. Freddie Freedman personally dismantled the Bronx Bombers.
The tickets go on sale once the clinch that round. you can buy the tickets, in this case, for games 1, 2, 6 and 7. If series is over before games 6 and 7, you get a refund.
in answer to your question, all seven games are sold to the team that hosts those games. the teams then divvy up the tickets between the players, retail sellers, season ticket holders, etc. like the last comment said, all unused tickets will be fully refunded, and then destroyed. but now, with electronic tickets, it's much easier to refund them. and the electronic versions are able to be scalped, like in previous years. I hope that clears things up for you. see you next season, and enjoy the Hot Stove league. (A.K.A...the offseason trading period, and the Winter Meetings...)

Yeah, and not to piss off any Brits reading this, but I've _tried_ to watch soccer, or as they call it, "futbol," a few times. I've watched league matches; I've watched World Cup games and found it mostly boring. Too much running around. It's like they decided to have a marathon on grass and toss a ball into the middle of it. I used to _rip_ soccer fans for my views on their sport. But that was because immaturity was a thing for me. Growing older, I've realized not everything revolved around my circle. Therapy can do that for you. But I digress. It's probably because we grew up in the United States and are used to our seasonal games that a lot of us just can't get into them. And sure, some people say that baseball is "boring," and I understand that sentiment, as I have seen some boring games in my days. However, I've also seen many exciting games, just like we witnessed in this postseason, and baseball plays a lot of games during the year. But hey, to each their own.
The Judge and Volpe errors were bad, but Judge took his eyes off the ball to check the runner, and Volpe made a bad throw, okay shit happens. BUT, Cole not covering 1st base is FUCKING UNACCEPTABLE. The tickets don't go on sale until they know who is in the WS. Then, season ticket holders get to buy tickets for all their teams' home games. If there are any tickets left, then the public can buy them. This year tickets cost about 3k per game on the secondary market.
The 4 LCS teams sell World Series tickets during the ALCS/NLCS. If your team doesn't make it or the games don't get played, you get a refund.
The good guys win!
The resistance rises and the Evil Empire falls.
As a lifelong Dodger fan this was awesome!!!!!
Also, regardless of those errors by the Yankees, Dodgers would have won this series.
They were the better team this year. Our only weakness was starting pitching but even those guys came through!
great video fellas. Great to see your guys' love for our National past time. Go Dodgers!
Freddie Freeman tied the World Series record for runs batted in (12). The other player, Bobby Richardson scored 12 over 7 games in 1960; Freddie did it in 5 😮.
Kiké helped, though!
He was Robin to Freddie's Batman, as they finished it in Gotham!
Regular Dodgers fans couldn’t afford one ticket. The parade was awesome and a life dream. 🎉💙
you guys have to watch Jomboy's breakdown of game 5. it's brilliant
"Screaming in each other's mouths! AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!" 🤣
And the dodgers won that without anyone hitting a home run 💙💙💙
This is the funniest game ever! I cant stop watching this.
Buehler was the starter who pitched the gem in game 3 and they brought him in to close the game on one days rest. That’s why they said he hasn’t come out of the pen since 2018.
He stepped up and volunteered.
@@JoshuaMartian-go3tmyep few hours before game 5 he texted Dave and said "i can go if you need me". Tbh since i only saw the box scores while the game is going on i saw Buehler name in the pitchers list i was like huh buehler on just over a days worth of rest why him and not Yamamoto who had more rest.

That 5th inning never gets old. Love watching the Yankees implode when it matters most.
Dodgers putting pressure on the Yankees made a lot of those errors happen. Dodgers been doing that to teams all year.
@@JoshuaMartian-go3tm Oh yea but I'd say Judge had no reason to miss that catch in the first place.

Cole not covering first base in the 5th inning was inexcusable. Cost them 5 runs and the game.
Started w Aaron judge dropping that routine ball
If judge catches that ball, they get outta the inning with 0 runs given up
That misplay between Cole and Rizzo only cost them 1 run, he could have gotten Freeman out and that would have ended the inning. Instead Cole gave up a base hit (2 runs), then a double to Teo (2 more runs).
The only consolation Cole can get from the 5th inning is that his ERA remained pristine.
@ it could’ve only cost them one run, but it did cost them 5.
“If this happens, I’m going to do this.”
The criticism of “talent over fundamentals” applies here. Volpe was thinking about a shut out to humiliate the Dodgers when he should have been thinking about getting the easy out.
@@oaktree1628, and that's probably why the Yankees cut ties with Rizzo just the other day. 😝
@@Silence_Duder_Gooder maybe the Yankees will go after Pete Alonzo
@@oaktree1628, maybe, since I don't believe they even want to bring back Soto.

For context, Yankees lost out Verdugo was an x Dodger, got traded in the Mookie betts trade , that brought Mookie to LA and Verdugo shipped to Boston. Shortly after Dodgers won the 2020 ws , Verdugo was talking shiit about how it didn’t count cause it was short 60mgame season, instead of the full 162 . How sweet he became the last out of the ws vs Dodgers I. A full season.
I’ll be at the stadium tomorrow for the celebration
How much did that cost to attend?
I bought tickets for Game 6 (Nov 1) about a week and a half before the World Series began (October 15). They were actually on sale for all 4 of the final playoff teams (Dodgers, Mets, Yankees and Guardians). They are not sold as a package, you have to buy individually, although if you're a Season Ticket holder, you may buy tickets for all of your team's home World Series games if you choose, and you get first dibs before the general public does. If your team didn't make it or the games were not played, you get a refund. I got my Game 6 refund a week later (Nov 8).
Coming back from 0-3 to force Game 6 would have been one of our best achievements ever. It's a cruel game and it will break your heart.

Whats funny is only a small crowd of the team was in the field going nuts.
Imagine being a NY fan and seeing neither team win a World Series.
Dude, NY fans don't root for both NY teams. They're either Yankee fans or Mets fans and they hate the other team. It's the same with all other teams in one state.
No one will respect you if you're rooting for more than one team in one state.
@@shicraptthat’s not true. Some New Yorkers who are casual sports fans root for any New York team, or both. It’s good for the economy.
Probably most Mets fans did watch, but I’m sure there were a few that were understandably still in their feelings. So what? I do know that there were a lot of supportive Mets fans that were rallying behind the Dodgers. No doubt they’re back to hating L.A., but it was nice to have them on board for the series.
@@MarcosElMalo2 Mets fans despise Yankees fans, and if we can't defeat them ourselves, we love to watch them lose to other teams.
@@MarcosElMalo2 Relax. I'm a Phillies fan. Gotta get my digs in when I can. You're taking things too seriously.
To much EGO for nothing for the Yankees.
Dodger Season Ticket Holders get the option for all postseason games. They open it for general public soon after its clear it is a possibility for Games 5-7. If it turns out the games aren't needed, they are refunded. (People who buy resold tickets however might be out of luck.
Yanks probably wont be back next year. That's what's great about the MLB and NFL, you can't predict who will get to the Championship before the season starts
If they lose Soto forget about it. Mets or Dodgers might grab him up.
@@JoshuaMartian-go3tm, as a Dodgers fan, we don't actually need Soto or that exorbitant contract he would garner. Just keep Teoscar and pay him less, which means they could keep Kiké, the _new_ "Mr. October."

All tickets are available. You can purchase your ticket for whichever game you want to go see. If they don't reach that game your ticket would be refunded.
They were sold out on the original market so you would have to purchase the ticket through a second hand ticket app.
The price would be inflated, but you can find a last-minute ticket for a lot less if you're lucky. Scalpers and ticket agencies make it hard for us to enjoy anything here for a reasonable price.
The Yankees was so cocky early especially being down in the series
Ohtani pitches next year !!!
damn rizzo u could of beat him to the bag if u hustled a little bit, the yanks defense was the difference
He waited for the ball to come to him rather than moving towards the ball. If he was charging the ball, he’d have the forward momentum to take him to first base. It’s still Cole’s fault, but it was lackadaisical on Rizzo’s part.
It’s like both they thought that the out was a foregone conclusion, so neither needed to hustle.
the best world series I have ever watched...go dodgers
I know you guys are new to baseball but that play at first, the pitcher (Gerritt Cole in this case) really should have been at the base covering rather than stopping and directing traffic. Had he been there it would have been out 3 and it would have stayed 5-0 but then it allowed a run and then he was clearly gassed/thrown off because he allowed 2 more hits that got 4 runs in.
I initially thought he was so sure that Rizzo had the out that he was walking to the sidelines like the inning was over.
You can't give a team like the Dodgers a three mistakes in one inning. The Yankees emploded and the Dodgers took advantage of it. Freddie Freedman personally dismantled the Bronx Bombers.
The Dodgers looked a lot like those previous Yankees' teams that used to do that to their opponents.

3 errors in the fifth inning by the Yankees; all 5 runs scored with two outs by the Dodgers-clutch.
_"What the Dodgers told their players in scouting meetings was the Yankees were _*_talent over fundamentals. That if you run the bases with purpose and aggression, the Yankees will self-inflict harm as was exposed by Betts, Tommy Edman, Freddie Freeman, etc. That the value was very high to put the ball in play to make the Yankees execute._*_ They mentioned that the Yankees were not just the majors’ worst baserunning team by every metric, but the difference was vast on the field between them and the Padres, who the Dodgers beat in the NL Division Series, but were impressive in this area._
_"They were thrilled at how short Yankee leads were at first base to potentially be less of a threat on pivots at second, where Gavin Lux does not excel. _*_They said their metrics had the Yankees as the worst positioned outfield. They were amazed how many times relay throws came skittering through the infield with no one taking charge and how often Jazz Chisholm Jr., for example, was out of place or just standing still when a play was in action."_*

The parade was awesome so many people called dodger fans. Including me.
Hey boys. I grew up a Dodger Fan in California and am now old enough to share some baseball lore. The older gent on the Dodger broadcast is Rick Monday. As a player for the Chicago Cubs he rescued the US flag from a protest burning on the field at Dodger Stadium. He became an All Star for the Dodgers in '78, retired in '85. He was a play by play announcer for the Dodgers when they won the World Series in 1988 and was there to call game 5 in 2024. Dodger Legend.
How does one "rescue" an inanimate object? 🤔
Did the flag buy Rick dinner after the game? 😝
The scouting report for the Dodgers regarding the Yankees was if you really make them play baseball…make them play defense, they will beat themselves.
Freddie is the Chupacabras for the Yankees.

if not for those other errors, there is no first base to cover, and they probably win that game and fly back to Chavez Ravine down 3-2.
Sad way for the Yankees to go out - they could've easily had this game if not for multiple errors on simple plays.
Nothing easy for Yankees in this series. Dodgers too good and put too much pressure on them.
Hope your Brits found much more exciting than soccer. In soccer if one team goes up by two goals, then they just play “keep away” and then the game is a snooze fest.
And the ASSIST goes to the Yankees.
