- Here is a video for you featuring my re-creation of the Beatles song “Oh! Darling” from the “Abbey Road“ album.
I originally recorded the bass part using my Hofner bass a few years ago, but after doing so, discovered that they used the Fender Bass VI (most likely John played the part). You can tell it's the Fender Bass VI because he's playing a 12th-fret harmonic on the high E string (regular basses don't have this string).
As usual, I'm playing and singing all the parts. What you see in this video are the actual performances as I recorded them. There is no "lip-syncing" or miming. Enjoy!

Definitely, Oh! Darling by The Beatles is one of the hardest songs to cover note for note. And by far, this is the best Oh! Darling cover I have ever heard. So close to studio version of Sir Paul's incredible vocal range.

Thanks. Those notes at the end were done by plucking the short length of the strings between the bridge and the tailpiece (while fingering the chord with the left hand).

It is a bit of a challenge (especially if I make a mistake with the lyrics and have to go all the way to the beginning of the song and start over because I want to record it all the way through in one take…)

This is probably one of the toughest Beatles tracks to recreate, not because of difficult technicality in the music, but the heart and soul put in the playing and especially vocals. Man. You absolutely nailed it, even being a little cheeky with it haha!

Seriously, I'm a long time musician/songwriter and Beatles lover since they exploded on the scene in 1964 and this is right up there with one of the best covers I've ever heard of this extremely difficult song to pull off vocally. Too bad it hasn't received the several MILLION views it deserves.
