Amazing teacher! Thank you so much for sharing, and for doing it so entirely for free. Some people don't appreciate how hard is to find good teachers who are so didactic and passionated about cello, and generous to share their knowledge and extensive experience. This is a great service for those like me, learning and trying to find inspiration. I will get to a point of playing with confidence and competence, and videos like this inspire me and make me review mistakes and having a fresh take on how to approach the learning process. Fascinating!
    Thank you very much!
I just love the voice of your cello! I would love to have, if you think is appropriate, some recommendations for my first cello purchase, as for now I am playing on an "Allegro" for students, a really basic cello. Thank you very much!

I had also hoped to see some finger positions, but then I found out it's all about leading the bow in one stroke to while playing. That is the difficult part and not really where fingers should be :) Im sooo happy :) It's hard, but fun :)

Thank you so much for the video, I know how to sort out my intonation using drones and the purity of tone as you explained but I have never been taught successfully to sort out the string crossing but now I am well armed with how to go about it. What about how to do double stops? (Sorry I am greedy but you are sooo good at explaining).

If you're going to play this prélude with eight notes to a bow (as used to be the fashion, before Baroque articulation became the norm, and as is the case in the present video), why display on the screen the notation for Bach's original articulation of three slurred notes followed by five separate ones?

I'm not really interested in receiving a pre-packaged, one-size-fits-all response to my comment. It suggests that you're starting from the assumption that you know more than the person watching your video. But it ain't necessarily so.

    • @vinylrose88

I don't think the teacher in this video is the one who posted it. Virtual Sheet Music has a bunch of different videos featuring numerous different teachers and instruments. So I doubt they are assuming they know more than you, I think they are just telling you to direct your question to the actual teacher in the video so that you can get an answer.

If your upper body is passive string crossings happen naturally. As quoted by Eric Kim Cincinnati Principal Cellist. When golfing, primary objective is to hit the ball. We then add finess to the ball. Musicality.
