  • Hey, I'm Clint, a self-taught developer who made the leap from being a firefighter to a web developer without CS degree or attending a coding bootcamp. I'm here to share my coding journey with you. I understand the struggles of balancing family and a full-time job while learning to code. But trust me, it's possible. Hopefully this video gives a little motivation for you!

Good to see your journey man! Your Firebase Netflix video helped me out so much doing my own wack NextJS project about Anime viewing. I definitely referenced your videos and others while making it.

You're an example for me my friend! I'm currently a Customer service rep, however in February this year I started to study web development! Although working 10h a day, I still take around 2h a day, even at work when not phone calls come up I leverage of that time, take out my laptop and start coding! I'm confident by February next year (1year after having started this process I will be able to find a job in which I'll dig deeper in this software field

Perfect timing of this video to encourage my wife. She has been working on learning programming while having a part-time job and being a busy mom. I am a Software Engineer during the day and a continuous student/indiehacker during the night. God Bless you brother and thank you for your service as a Firefighter.

Thanks man! It’s tough switch careers. Especially when you’re juggling a full-time job/kids/family. I get it! I feel like it was definitely worth it!

I have some feedback for this video. I am a beginner web developer myself and got recommended it because I've been looking up stuff about React. There are too many effects. You have so much stuff going on in this video, the stock footage, the transitions, the sound effects, the text flying around. I barely even have a chance to digest what I'm seeing before we zip to the next thing. The effects should punctuate the point you're trying to make but at this point they are just overwhelming it. It's at the point where I'm not sure what point you're trying to make because I'm so distracted by it all.

Ive been applying to jobs for a month now. idk how many applications Ive sent out and have gotten nothing but rejections. My portfolio and projects are good, there are just hardly any entry level jobs right now and most want 5+ years experience. I saw one that wanted 10 years of React Native experience......It came out in 2015. So its very disheartening after spending so much time trying to switch careers. So if anyone has any more tips they would be greatly appreciated

You don’t have to fit all of the requirements to apply. If you feel comfortable with most or even half of what they are asking for then you should apply!

@@codecommerce I actually finally heard back from a place and I have a phone screening for a React Dev job tomorrow! I learned everything I know about React, Tailwind and Firebase from your videos and I really appreciate the content you put out. Whatever the style you teach in makes things click for me way easier than others.

Love this! Just used your tutorial for the first time: "Nextjs Authentication Firebase Sign in with Google". Thanks for the inspiration. Getting ready to write mine, definitely next year.
