MarinAire 16K Start Load Tests

Results of tests to see how a MarinAire 16,000 Btu marine air conditioning unit starts on mains power and from a Honda 2000i portable generator. Tests are done with and without EasyStart compressor soft-start device.

Hey there very nice video ! I have a marine air 16000 BTU and a Honda 2200i generator. The generator starts the ac just fine with not much trouble. I'm thinking about getting an EasyStart so that I could run the honda generator in eco mode. If I run the ac over night on the generator it runs out of fuel. In eco mode it would probably last through the night. Any thoughts on that? Thank you.

Thank you for your positive comments, Claus. You should understand that the EasyStart is a start device. It is only operational during the starting phase of the compressor, typically less than one second. After that it will have no influence on the current draw of your compressor. If your generator will not run the unit in Eco mode now, it wil also not do so with the EasyStart installed.

@@CoastalClimate Thank you for that information. The thing is I set the ac to usually 76. Once the cabin reaches the temperature the ac turns off until it gets warmer inside the cabin and then the ac starts again. And you can hear the generator struggling but it makes it every time. Now in the meantime when the ac is off the generator runs on full power but nothing is being used. What a waste.Honda writes in there manual that in eco power it goes back to normal power unless it's an appliance with a large start -up power demand and I guess that would be an ac.

Claus, how is the 16k btu Marinair running for you, any issues? Do you get factory support if needed?
