Notice she didn't blame the tories for any of this. She didn't blame the super rich, the people in power, the people who continue to make life harder for her. Personally I think my problems are either my fault or nobodies, except in very rare circumstances. Like the caller in this video, so many people's go-to mantre when they have a problem is to find someone else, maybe richer than them, maybe poorer, maybe from overseas, or not, blame it all on them, and get really angry about it. If we as a society put our energies into actual constructive problem solving rather than ranting and foaming at the mouth about everyone else, we'd all be in a better place.

There's likely a shared saying between us two nations, which states something like this ...
"An amazing number of problems were solved/fixed, by two blokes in a shed. A lot of problems/issues were caused by two blokes in a cheap, chain - owned/operated, pub ..." ...
In our case, such pubs is usually Wetherspoons. For some reason they open their doors quite early (me thinks 9 - 9.30am ...). I used to meet up with a friend over their so-so breakfast, but having a pint of ale with it (I prefer wheat beers, as over-hopped ones are just too bitter), was the draw, especially at 11.30am ...
But what was crazy is, by the time we would meet up, regardless of which Wetherspoons pub we would go to, we would see the same thing; groups of senior men, sitting huddled together, with at least four-five empties each, by their elbow, and clearly supping on their fifth/sixth ...
I'll never know how long they would be there, especially as we would only stay until 2pm, if as late as that ... maybe their livers had gotten used to a steady consumption of alcohol, instead of binging over, say, three - four hours.
Even so ... either their wives wanted them out for under their feet ... or, more tragically, it became a social clubs for widowers. But there was something a bit ... tragic ... seeing those men in their 70's and 80's, drinking from whenever the doors open, to whatever the time they leave ... likely easily after 8 pints ...

To everyone who's concerned about James interrupting her/ not letting her speak/ coming back to the 'free cars' over and over:
Yes, he did keep going back to that point. Because it untrue and inflammatory. If he just glossed over it and let her carry on, there'd be plenty of people listening who would cherry pick that point and go and tell it to all their mates down the pub etc, just like her friend who works on the council.
Also, anytime she was speaking, she was just repeating the same point over and over, which James called out each time as being untrue or simply just a bad argument.
If he didn't call out the false arguments and just entertained the conversation as if her points were valid, and he just 'respectfully disagreed', it'd just be 10 minutes of listening to anti- immigrant propaganda, and all the people who believe that kind of tripe would eat it up regardless of what the counter- arguments were.

Her claims are completely unfounded. Local authorities place people on waiting lists based on criteria and being an asylum seeker isn’t one of them.
If her friends are telling her and they work in local authorities then they are most probably a receptionist, security guard, or cleaner as they are so far from the truth.

I gonna hazard a guess it was through and friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend that works in the council and started out as "they get help with advice on how to finance a car", you know because being from another country they will find that difficult and there are lots of people who might take advantage for financial gain. Once it reached her it morphed into a load of bile.

@@sebravenno one gets free houses. People get council houses which you have as well low income housing. I believe it used to be 40% of people had one now it is more like 8% and millions on waiting lists. Where I am I have a council property the rent would probably be around £900-£1000. Bare in mind someone working full time on minimum wage which is very common would earn maybe £1300 a month. I pay £500 you can see why people want council homes. They turn a profit after about 30 years my house was built in the 60s so probably far quicker as it would have been far cheaper than that to build than current costs. The problem we have is once you live in it 3 years you can buy it at a huge discount and then after 5 years you can sell it. What tends to happen is people selling them and move and they are bought up by private landlords and double the rent or people remortgage them and buy another property and again rent privately.

I get what this woman is trying to say. (Most) people wouldn’t be fussed about refugees and asylum seekers if the state did its job by having proper social housing and benefits system, but the government and media have hoodwinked the public that immigrants are taking the scarce resources that we have in this country.
It’s clear to me that a failure to build social housing and provide a decent social safety net due to years of austerity is the problem. And then when we do our duty for refugees, local residents can only look on with envy.
