As a nursing student, I firmly believe you have to be your own advocate. If you have a concern do NOT let them turn you away that easily. People die because healthcare providers think people are being dramatic or using google to diagnose themselves, when that is often not the case. Good for you that you pushed for the biopsy. Hoping for the best outcome for you!!

It's disgusting how often this happens to women. I told my doctor THREE times maybe even more, "I feel like I'm dead. I've never felt this horrible in my entire life. These are not allergies. I don't get them. Never have." He literally laughed at me, thinking I was being dramatic, and then said "allergies can happen to anyone. You don't have strep, so it must be allergies." I didn't have allergies, and that moron made me leave with a box of Claritin. Not to mention when I was in first grade, I was complaining about a stomach ache. I was in terrible pain, and the doctor said I had strep, which made no sense, and another doctor said I was just faking it to get out of school. Cut to me almost dying because I had appendicitis. It was about to explode and at the age and size I was, they said it would have killed me if they didn't remove it in time.

Hey Morgan! I used to work as a medical assistant in dermatology. I recommend keeping your incision site moist with Aquaphor everyday until it heals! It help prevent scarring. Also once it starts to heal (it'll look like new pink skin), you can start massaging the area every day and applying silicone to the area and that will prevent it from scarring ugly too. Hope that helps. xoxo

You are a true inspiration to women and men alike! Thank you for sharing your very personal journey. My dad found spots on his skin and waited too long to get it checked and it was too late and the cancer had spread to his internal organs. He passed March of 2020 and I try to spread awareness to anyone who might spend a lot of time outside in the sun to always wear sunscreen and be aware of your body and if you notice anything out of the ordinary, tell your doctor and get it checked out. A small mole can turn into melanoma and be cancerous and just a small non descript pigmentation can turn deadly.
God bless you for spreading awareness to those who might have the same issue or something similar.
You're a damn hero and I'm praying for your swift recovery and CANCER FREE DIAGNOSIS.

And sunglasses too playing tricks with our body’s natural rhythm eyes in communication with our brain.

This is a reminder that you’re going to be okay and perspective is everything. The mole is gone now and the scar will heal and fade. I’ve had 6 major surgeries where I was actually sedated and I remember 4 of them (I was 3yrs old for the first). Your scar isn’t that big and it will be okay. The last 4 surgeries I had were all within 9 months of each other in 2020 and within the first two years all 4 scars blended in with the other skin almost 100%. I had a 3 MONTH recovery for both elbows (each) where I couldn’t lift anything, even my rabbit, and the hands took 2 months (same restrictions). You’re very lucky that you don’t have those type of restrictions. I couldn’t even cook for myself or wipe with the recovering arm when each one was healing. I literally had to learn to wipe left handed & I have mobility issues so it was beyond difficult.
Two of the scars that I have (faded nicely) are both on my palms and about the same side as your new one. My other two are legitimately about 6-7 inches on my elbows. They’ve healed nicely too and I didn’t do anything special to help them heal, it’s a little vitamin E cream daily. My 5th is also healed and faded but 32 years ago the surgeons didn’t care about scarring, so I genuinely look like I’ve had a c-section, cut from hip to hip. I don’t care though because F- what others think. My 6th was last year and I was misdiagnosed, so my gallbladder got removed when it didn’t need to (and in Canada we can’t sue fyi). Those 3 incisions are 1” each and they’re healing nicely too. They’re thick scars though, but worrying about their appearance won’t help me.
I do understand your fear and anxiety. I acknowledge that. I do also need to say that if you’re not going right now, therapy is probably necessary for you. Your obsession with looking good to the point where you’re actually freaking out over a surgery where you weren’t sedated & it was in-office (minor) is quite over the top. It’s unhealthy to be that level of upset over an in-office non-sedated procedure. You survived, your skin will heal, the scar will fade.
The reason I’m finding this video quite dramatic is that you’ll have a quick recovery time too, on top of everything I mentioned. I understand that you don’t have the perspective of having major surgeries & you’re 10 years younger. It’s also not like you were told you need chemo either.
Cancer is a scary word, but dwelling on it won’t help your mental state. I don’t care to play the “who had it worse game”; I’m trying to give you perspective. Changing your mindset will help you tremendously in life.
My last perspective is that: I live with a neurological degenerative disease and an autoimmune arthritis (also degenerative) where it affects all my joints, especially my spine. Instead of wallowing in self pity, I remind myself that even thought I do “have it bad”, it also could be significantly worse. I will remind myself that I could be paralyzed, or I could be bed-ridden, or I could be blind… there are so many hardships out there that mine is something that I can survive with. I remind myself that I have pain management (a lot of people don’t), I’m getting care to manage (not cure) my diseases. Sh!t could be far worse. I could sit at home, take disability and not work, and dwell in loneliness & pain, but I make the conscious choice daily to get up & try.
The ONLY way to mentally survive any hardship is to BE POSITIVE. For you, remind yourself that at least you’re not dying, at least you don’t need chemo, at least it’s a quick recovery, and at least it was caught in time. You’re going to be okay.
Stay Positive & don’t dwell. You’ll be okay.

Hey Morgan! I also had melanoma removed and had to go back for a second surgery to “clear the margins”. When I went back, they also removed some lymph nodes under my armpit because they tested positive for cancer as well. I then had a PET scan of my whole body to check if it had spread anywhere else. I’m in Canada, so they might do things differently here - but you should maybe get a second opinion from another dermatologist. I haven’t had any reoccurrence and have been cancer free for over 13 years… but still am constantly checking to see if my “freckles” are changing.

I had the same surgery to remove skin cancer, except it was on my scalp and close to my ear. Nothing can quite prepare you for listening to your scalp being cut off, cauterised and then sewn back together. I went to my doctors twice, being told it was a age wart (I’m only 25) and then a cyst. I also went to a dermatologist not believing what my GP had told me, they recommended to get it checked by a cosmetic surgeon. Anyway… I guess as you said, always trust your own body and push for your own advocation when you feel something isn’t right. Hope everything is healing nicely for you and sending best wishes 💗

Hey Morgan! So that buzzing you heard during your procedure is what is called cauterizing. It is used for many things in surgery, but in this case it was likely to stop bleeding by burning and essentially sealing small blood vessels that had to cut during the procedure.
