coming back to this song after the news of Avi taking a step back, I just watched this thoroughly, he sings with so much emotion and that's what I love, I cried harder then the first time I watched it. When i sing this for chorus I'm singing avis part and I'm definitely gonna cry. Avi was my favorite member hands down, he inspired me to be a bass. And for a 15 year old bass I can reach those low notes. I just can't believe he left, but I support his decision, but this is a beautiful song to go out to

The arrangement is inhuman, I’m a choir kid, and that part in 2:21 is INCREDIBLY hard, yet so beautiful. Pentatonix is pure genius.
which part of it is difficult? Bass line seems to be quite easy.
Mostly the baritone and tenor, Kevin and Scott part. So many usage of dissonance notes to add the harmonies and it’s so hard to concentrate.

I think at 2:48 Scott wanted to somehow conduct the slowing down at the end, maybe helping the band to stay in sync for the last slow notes (even if they don't sing completely live in the clip, their breath and lip moves have to be in sync).

Ughhhhhhh, the climax chorus is so freaking eargasm. Mitch's part 2:19 was sooo pretty went he went up high gah
I love how far along Kevin's singing has come. As if beatboxing and playing cello like a champ wasn't enough, now he's turned himself into an incredible singer too. Don't get me wrong, he could always sing well but you can really tell how much work he's put into polishing his singing tone. It used to be a "Kevin sings a couple lines" gimmick, now he's a legitimate fifth voice for the songs where there isn't a beatbox part.
I can't believe Avi is leaving this amazing group. No One, no matter who it is, can replace Avi's amazing voice that everyone loves. It's just not Pentatonix without Avi. They are all equally important, and I just can't handle the fact that he's taking a step back. But it's for a good reason, so I don't want to complain. We love you Avi, and we always will, and we're all thankful for the hard work you've all done after 6 amazing and successful years.

I think he also missed being creative, being able to make his own music, which is completely different from the cover singing of Pentatonix. I understand him well, everything has its time. The best part about this group is , every arrangement they make, every one is different, whether that's a song with high percussion or a slow one like this. Each one is completely different and original. This is what I LOVE. PENTATONIX never stays in they're comfort zone. They try to push the boundaries of a Capella. This video shows that they don't need to try too hard to make things perfect. I love that each album has a wide variety of fast and slow songs to make it unpredictable. For the people bashing this cover by saying it's boring and slower than the other songs, Please know that they like to try different things. PTX are literally unpredictable. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE GUYS from the bottom od my heart ❤️

First time I've heard PTX sing this song, it's AMAZING! Not only the singing, but whoever arranged it was a genius, it's so different in detail from the original but conveys the original concept perfectly. This is one of Pentatonix's best, and that's saying something, given how good all of their work is.

Karrie Langit i agree with the diverse part but when they choose who sings the lead they try to fit the best voice with the song. for slow melancholic songs they tend to go for that imogen heap vibe and mitch's voice has that smooth beautiful melody that's sounds amazing paired with a choral of different voices behind it, just like how they arranged this song. that's why i think they chose mitch for this solo as well as a couple other songs like bohemian rhapsody and take on me. kirstin's voice matches over the rainbow best and avi's matches standing by the best. it's just how they want the song to feel and who's voice can portray that vibe the best. there's also the fact that kevin and avi are the beats and bass so it's very hard to replace them, especially kevin, if one of them were to sing the lead another member would have to step up and take their part so they don't leave gaps. and with kevin's incredible talent, it's hard to match which is why i think he doesn't get many solos. sorry that was like super long i got a little carried away lol oops

OMG. I love your music since I'm a trained vocalist, but this song is on another level. You can hear and feel each of your specific vocals in such a way it's almost spiritual, even more than your Christmas album! I also get super excited when K.O. sings with the group because he has the voice of an angel, which can get overlooked bc of his sick beatboxing ability. Mitch, once again your incredible voice has touched my soul. I'm left breathless with chills and goosebumps. Thanks for making this kind if music a big deal for this day and age.
