The Cowboys didn't need Joe Greene to win that Super Bowl.
They needed needed and got Neil O'Donnell, the true MVP for the Cowboys.

Yeah If Joe Greene was a member of the Cowboy's coaching staff for the SB and he helped them win I would have guaranteed that would have really pissed off Steeler fans who remember the 1970s Steelers and the 4 SB wins.
Joe Greene eventually got his 5th SB Ring as a special Assistant for the Steelers when they won SB XL. So he finally got 1 for the thumb. Also Franco Harris Also has his number retired by the Steelers as well.

I have to say, you can despise Jerry jones all you want, but he sure proved his point on this one that any coach could win with the roster he constructed. It just came at the expense of winning any more Super Bowls for the rest of his life

Didn’t Jimmy construct thst roster? It was the team that Jimmy put together.

Unconventional wisdom: I think Jones said any coach could win with the Cowboys because he knew Johnson was leaving anyway. Jones was willing to be the “bad guy” like he was when he fired Tom Landry.

@@josephsarto689 it comes down to personal preference of who you want to give credit to. Jones was GM and had to sign off on all personnel moves, but Jimmy Johnson yielded an awful lot of influence throughout the locker room. I give it 60% Jones and 40% Johnson

“Mean Joe” Greene went the University of North Texas, which is within the DFW Metroplex. So coaching the Cowboys wouldn’t be as far fetched as it would seem.

Well since it's Super Bowl Sunday, my February video request (one last football one before the off-season); which is a Chiefs themed one.
The time Marv Levy (he'll be 99 this year!) brought the Wing-T formation to the NFL, specifically Week 1 in 1978 when the Chiefs ran the ball 69 times.

This is very similar to what happened in 2008 just prior to the start of the men's soccer tournament at the Olympics when Argentina (with players such as Messi, Javier Mascherano & Carlos Tevez on their roster) needed to fill an assistant coaches vacancy on their staff. Instead of borrowing an assistant coach from the senior national team, the Argentine federation decided to contact Luiz Felipe Scolari who was recently Portugal's coach but resigned after Portugal lost to Germany in the quarterfinals of the Euros to fill this role. For some further context on Scolari, he was the coach of Brazil when they won the 2002 World Cup & had won a ton of club trophies in South America. Because of this, Argentina really wanted to stick it to their bitter rivals Brazil by having a Brazilian on their staff when they won the Olympic gold medal. I can only imagine what the reaction both in Brazil & Argentina would have been if this actually happened. However this did not happen for two reasons. One was that Argentina's players absolutely point blank refused to be coached by a Brazilian. The other was that Chelsea of the Premier League swooped in a few days before the Olympics & hired Scolari as their new coach in time for the start of the 2008/09 Premier League season. When it comes to Argentina & their performance at the Olympics, they did win the gold medal beating Nigeria 1-0 in 105 degree midday heat in Beijing where 4 cooling breaks had to be used. As for Scolari, he had a run from hell as Chelsea coach only lasting 7 months in the role with Chelsea getting progressively worse as the season went on & major conflict between the players & Scolari over tactics.
