    Some GI JOE vehicles were modelled after actual prototypes that never went into production. The MOBAT was modelled after the MBT70, the Mauler after the AAI RDF light tank, and the Vamp after a Lamborghini dune buggy.

    I remember getting this for Christmas about 30 years ago. I gave the tank away about 25+ years ago. The other day I found what I suspected was one of the rubber mudflaps. Thanks for uploading the video, happy to confirm that it was indeed a part of this great toy. Brought back great memories.

    My favorite GI Joe year is 1983. A lot of good characters and vehicles started in that year!

    If it makes you feel any better, I gave away most of my childhood toys to cousins! I had to re-buy most of these toys at collector prices.

    When I retrieved my old GI joe collection from my parents attic , the batteries I put in the Mauler 25 years ago were still in! So obviously they leaked inside the toy, destroying the battery contacts. By the way, GREAT review as always! (I forgot how fast the Mauler was!)

    Ooohh ooohh, thank you for posting this!
    I had forgotten about this awesome tank that I really wanted when I was younger. Thank you for bringing this great toy to my memory.

    Thanks for another awesome review! I recently purchased a box of GI Joe vehicle parts. The Mauler came w/ it. Unfortunately some of the wheels were broken off, thus I couldn't completely fix it, save for two that is. This review helped in that endeavor. Yes I had a tough time getting the batteries in place to, check the of the motor still works..it does. Great job, I'm just sorry that I can't get mine to run. It looks great as a battle damaged vehicle.

    I got two of these. one i took the engine off. this allows it to roll freely. the other engine i added it to a equalizer. great tank. truly on of my favorites. its hard to find that earpiece.

    I bought one of these back in '88 or '89 when I was like 17. I remember you could position the joystick to where the motor would run but tracks weren't engaged which I thought was pretty cool. I didn't remember it having two speeds though. .just that it had right/left turning.cool to see and hear one run again!

      It's odd that the tanker has 2 semi auto pistols. most armor crew guys wore bianchi nylon tanker rigs for M9s or the add on od shoulder straps.

    @feeder123456 an incomplete Mauler (with incomplete figure) can go for $30 - $35. A lot of the value is in the small parts, unfortunately.

    Yes, there is plenty of room for the 25th ann style figures. I've seen pictures of Rampage (from the the ROC Rhino) in the cabin from a few collectors who replaced the original driver.

    The big tank from 2003 was called the Patriot Grizzly (a Night Force version came out in 2004). The green/camo 1989 Slaughters Marauders Equalizer used the body of the Mauler. Even though the original molds have been destroyed, this is definitely a toy Hasbro should consider remaking like the Skystriker - but without the costly electronics.

    When I was a kid I never could find a glue that really worked with GIJoe plastic. I imagine in my older age a good PVC Pipe glue would work.

    I don't remember how but there was actually a way to losen the caterpillars... i think i placed the switch in between speeds... did it turned left & right?
    The moment i saw the box i felt something... i remember every single useless feature (like the things inside the motor compartments)... i used to tow several cars with it, that was a very strong engine!!
    I need one now!!
    I'll trade it for the RoC PIT!

    that is odd that the toy has a art work from the rear/side. I vaguely recall that tank. The cannon looks huge. It seems to add to GI Joe field testing new prototype weapons & vehicles.

    I bought a mauler tank about ten years ago in a box and took it out today to look at it and thought something is wrong about it......it has the wrong tow cable, the tow cable I have is for the wolverine......so off I go to find the right tow cable for mine.....

  • @1022wil

    what would be a fair price for the mauler in some what good shape with out the box and driver ?

    • @formbx257
      @formbx257  10 лет назад

      I would say about $25 to $45. The more grey accessories it has (the tow rope, antennas & smoke grenades) the higher the value.

  • @BLAZE084

    There was a tank for the joes that had the same cannon design on the turret but only seated one driver/gunner. Does anyone here remember that? It was green with camo patterns.

    • @formbx257
      @formbx257  6 лет назад

      Sounds like the 1989 Slaughter's Marauders Lynx: www.yojoe.com/vehicles/89/lynx/

    • @evanstanek5838
      @evanstanek5838 6 лет назад

      The lynx used the cannon from this tank, but the base of the Wolverine. The Equalizer used the Mauler base, but had a newly designed top, while using similar extras like the antennae and the smoke grenade pieces.

    I got a question about Mauler tank. Mine once I got the batteries in (that was a pain in the ass lol) the tracks wouldnt stop moving even when I moved the switch anyone else have this issue?

    • @formbx257
      @formbx257  8 лет назад +1

      +Brandon Haponuk Sorry it took so long to respond you r question... the Mauler's transmission is really badly designed - most of them do not work properly. Mine was straight out of the box and can't turn left or right (I don't demonstrate that in the video). Plus, sometimes I have to put mine in reverse for it to move forward! I haven't found a tutorial on how to fix it, most people gut it and put in a new radio control unit.

    • @brandonhaponuk8085
      @brandonhaponuk8085 8 лет назад
