I’d probably not be the only one wondering if I should have a re-listen to this 12 hr epic. Amit, it is your questions which bring out the best in Devdut truly reflecting the theme of the discussion that one cannot exist without the ‘other’ 👏🏼

That was a great episode. I wouldn't mind listening to Devdutt 12 hours more. Got a very different lens to see Indian mythology and how unknowningly my thoughts and actions are shaped by the society I grew up in. Amit, I see you are pushing your limits of podcasting, also our limits of listening through stratosphere. I am surprising myself, I could even listen for 10hrs and 12hrs to people. Thanks for all your work.

Truly an epic episode. Somehow the longer your episodes the better they become. It's a pleasure to listen to Devdutt forever. You can print this conversation in a beautiful book. We can read it slowly and go to it again and again. Thanks @amit Verma and brilliant Devdutt

Hi Sir, I listened to the entire 12-hour podcast in one go on my podcasts app on my phone and came back to RUclips just to leave this comment. You've certainly drawn a bee to the beautiful flower you've created. Kudos and best wishes!

Devdatt is enchanting but Amit has some brilliant stumpings of logic.

An incredible 12 hours journey through Indian thought. I think, Devdutt decolonizes Indian thought by expanding the focus from neo Vedanta to other aspects of Indian culture. I feel in the 19th century Indian elites in an effort to remain afloat in the competition with Abrahamic worldview, highlighted Advaita Vedanta as the apex point of Indian thought. Hence sleek sanitized concepts like, Brahman, Atman, Moksa, etc became the be all and end all of Indian philosophy and thought. Unfortunately this continues or rather only expanding with all the new age gurus. However Indian myths and traditions are far more diverse and complex. It would be intellectual poverty if we think Indian philosophy is all about the teleological pursuit of Moksa. Devdutt has opened up the treasure trove of Indian myths for a new generation of Indians.

@amitvarma - was it intentional that you kept Devdutt Pattanaik for episode 404? 404 means 'page not found' or something that is unreachable - for someone who brings mythology to all of us within reach?

Why did he call Judith Butler’s theory nonsense if he thinks it existed in India for a long time?
