I think you are missing the point, yes salvation is through grace, because we can't do it, but I think we are expected to do what we can. Jesus had the disciples roll away the stone from Lazarus' tomb, and then undo his wrappings. He could have just beamed him form the grave to where he was. He told the lepers to go and wash in the river, he could have just healed them right there. In many instances of his miracles, humans were expected to do some small part they were capable of. He told the wedding caterers to fill the wine jars with water, then turned it. He could have just as easily created the wine out of thin air, but he wanted human participation possibly as an act of faith. Etc, etc, etc. If we are utterly incapable of doing anything to affect anything, then why pray?

I think you are missing the point, yes salvation is through grace, because we can't do it, but I think we are expected to do what we can. Jesus had the disciples roll away the stone from Lazarus' tomb, and then undo his wrappings. He could have just beamed him form the grave to where he was. He told the lepers to go and wash in the river, he could have just healed them right there. In many instances of his miracles, humans were expected to do some small part they were capable of. He told the wedding caterers to fill the wine jars with water, then turned it. He could have just as easily created the wine out of thin air, but he wanted human participation possibly as an act of faith. Etc, etc, etc. If we are utterly incapable of doing anything to affect anything, then why pray?

Yes we are saved by the grace of God. We are unable to clean ourselves from sin, and we need to be saved from it, but your actions and works do matter. God will provide you a plethora of blessings and opportunities, but you still must work for them. You have to put in the effort. It is in your efforts you earn God's favor and receive his grace. You cannot just say you have received it. You cannot be baptized, then go life a sinful life.
