    These robots are incredible I can’t even imagine how hard it must be to program and create them.

    • @cynda3044
      @cynda3044 6 лет назад +44

      programming them is relatively easy. the art is to make them produce one car in under 60s

    • @ronaldckrausejr7762
      @ronaldckrausejr7762 6 лет назад +18

      There are many robotic companies out there that will custom make you a robot that can manufacture most anything, with very few limitations. Soon the process will be one hundred percent automated, except for some items related to paint and finish. The only real limitation is cost.
      Programming them is actually not that difficult. For people out there that already have some type of computer certification; chances are - this is actually easier to learn.

    • @Richard-ie1if
      @Richard-ie1if 6 лет назад +8

      the issue is getting them to actually know what they're doing
      move to position x,y,z at command 1 2 3 is childs play
      welding is just position change at certain velocities while making sure the weld is happening
      connection hoses etc is an issue
      with electric vehicles however it seems as you could have a central harness with the connections stationary and get plug connections to happen
      hoses, hydraulic are likely more difficult and tiny ones found in windshield wipers are likely a pain as well for a robot
      but the list is only going to grow shorter

    • @aleksandar743
      @aleksandar743 6 лет назад +8

      ABB uses IRC5 controllers and Robot Studio for offline programing, both are not that difficult to learn

    My brother was a programmer for places like this. He showed me how crazy difficult it is to get the robots to execute this same thing. He was wanted by a Japanese company to create the program for the robots in a car factory but he did not take the job because of having to take his kids out of school at the time. I toured a bit of a factory in Detroit and its amazing how the robots move and nothing catches fire. This site is great! Thanks for showing how it's made.

      @@alexandercrush Even Q60 looks better than M4:-) Well, 80k cars are CLS AMG53 and BMW 640i grand coupe. I bet the new 6 series will look fine, due to the current model had the best BMW design. Oh,wait, wiki says 6 is no longer "grad coupe", but 5 "grand turismo". And it seems 6 grad coupe is now 2020 8 gran coupe... Probably we won't see a good design in 80k range ... OK. I agree, there is nothing better, just don't like the high-gloss shadow line. Cheap bastards, Germans don't give chrome with the sport packages anymore and only expensive/real AMG models got the chrome line (same as the Porsche turbo models only). Actually Mercedes moves chrome and grills around the cars like a sharper and only S-class gets everything.

    Very nice and professional to see how the chassis and the shell of this BMW series 3 become finished and with which precision the processes where worked out. That garants an high end exterior finish and a perfect look for the future owners. From this manufacturing part respect to the BMW production factory. But this same perfection I personally miss at the other components designed and manufactured by BMW.
    Broken turbo engines, defect prone and inadequate injectors, tear timing chains, worn chain guides, weak turnbuckels, electrical defects all kinds, the list is long. And most owners from BMW models 2007 and newer with such technical problems. Thats not the quality and perfection i expect from BMW. And a big reason why i never will buy a BMW 2007 and newer. Actually i rather search for a BMW 3 series E36 328iA Coupé in very good condition. That vehicle with the famous 193 hp R6 engine is one of the best models BMW ever has designed and produced. When i see one on the road i become euphoric and freaky. The same feeling becomes not with the bew cars from BMW. The quality and perfection is never the same as it was ~ 20 years before. I hope for BMW that they switch, and realize the same perfection in engine, gearbox, and landing gear parts as it is with the vehicle exterior finish which is perfect and lets no room for criticism.

    BMW = will soon hold the majority for best looking cars - worldwide.
    That paint process is nothing short of epic. Only one or two other manufacturers can come close to matching it. The sad part is, when an accident happens, good luck matching it.
    Wondering what brand of paint is used?
    Om a side note... For a majority of the entire automobile industry; it will soon be the end of sheet metal in vehicles. Within 3-4 years very, very few vehicles will be metal, replaced with...…..

      Little things like the robot arm opening the door at 9:05 just show you how streamlined the whole process is.

      I had an accident with E90, but the bodyshop was very good and matched the color. The guy told me they use the same brand as BMW and matched the color by the exact ID, forgot the brand's name...

    At 32:00 it looks like it goes for a kind of laser alignment following the rolling road test.
    Does anyone know what the computer is checking for and how it calculates the adjustments?
    It’s mesmerising to watch.

      There's no specific "most important part" you need many things in order for a car to drive.
