    This was the best idea ever, don't know how they didn't put this out release day. One unit that's good against infantry, cav, artillery and can siege like mortars. Instead they made you train multiple units to cover all of the fields and made the game harder smh my head right rn

    • @kingsguard5614
      @kingsguard5614 5 месяцев назад +1

      How are they good vs infantry and artillery?

    • @SamuraiRevolution
      @SamuraiRevolution  5 месяцев назад +1

      On the open field of battle, it is quite easy to use their high speed and damage to quickly surround your opponents army and crush even their "counters", due to Samurai's high hp and area damage. So to beat this you have to put your skirm and cannons behind walls--the problem with this is that that means the samurai spammer can just ignore your army and waltz through your town with their high speed and siege.

    Maybe the devs want every civ to have the equivalent of the Maltese Hoop Thrower with the rocket card or the Indian Arsonist with that card that turns them into Rockteers.

    • @SamuraiRevolution
      @SamuraiRevolution  5 месяцев назад +7

      Well unlike those this was obviously gonna be stupid OP (I made a post about it on the forum and most people agreed). Those really aren't that strong due to lots of things (fire throwers are pretty good to a point) but we knew 100% this would be OP.

    I Remember samurai was already super strong in treaty for pushing through the enemy city. So mortar or not doesn't change so much for me

    • @SamuraiRevolution
      @SamuraiRevolution  5 месяцев назад +1

      It makes them much more effective, as they can stack when sieging, and move while "reloading".

    Mortars for cuirassiers!

  • @juliuskull
    @juliuskull 5 месяцев назад +5

    Samurai is not used by most players. Giving them mortars is a small change and will not make samurais viable.
    Most players play supremacy, not treaty or ffa. Devs rightfully ignore your fringe game mode, cant make everyone happy.

    • @SamuraiRevolution
      @SamuraiRevolution  5 месяцев назад

      Exactly, the only thing this does, is make them lame-able in those modes (and casual team games). It doesn't help them in any other way, so there was no reason to add them.

    • @juliuskull
      @juliuskull 5 месяцев назад

      Hmm you got a good point there

    • @user-yk4pu5uo6x
      @user-yk4pu5uo6x 5 месяцев назад

      @@juliuskull No he does not and you are pretty much nailed it! - It gives a little bit of flexibility to Japan. Samurais are very underutalized units (again, tlaking about ranked game modes, which should be the baseline), this change might help them get the edge and create more uniqe games. You probably won't see the card often, but it's a nice addition to punish boomy / turtely players, especially if they go Cav. semi :)

    • @SamuraiRevolution
      @SamuraiRevolution  5 месяцев назад

      It absolutely does not make them better in 1v1s. Samurais siege was already good enough that this doesn't effect them if they're in low (1v1s) numbers. Only when you get probably 30+ will this have any real effect.

    • @user-yk4pu5uo6x
      @user-yk4pu5uo6x 5 месяцев назад

      @@SamuraiRevolution Well, I disagree. It also buffs your artillery, which might make it worth sending :) - So Samurai + Flaming arrows can be the new Musk + Falc for Japan. In certain match-ups. I don't see this card as a new core, but definitely a vital upgrade in some situations, especially in 2v2 or 3v3 when your teammates might also build cannons!
      A bigger problem is, that Dutch is definitely in the gutters and they keep nerfing them instead of actually working out a way to buff them without tipping them over the edge of being OP, but I digress...

  • @t4ntrumtf2
    @t4ntrumtf2 5 месяцев назад +4

    You were not even abusing it by running daimyo in and then training samurai and destroying their base

    • @geoffwitt4227
      @geoffwitt4227 5 месяцев назад +1

      I think the magical unit transportation given to the daimyo is the more busted part. I can handle OP Sams if they have to be built in a know place outside my walls.

      @@geoffwitt4227 it is Japans busted treaty strategy, but only broken in long games

    • @geoffwitt4227
      @geoffwitt4227 5 месяцев назад

      @@t4ntrumtf2 I think many people try multiplayer to play the larger team games, be it supremacy or treaty. This looks easy to bring up in under 15 minutes with the free slinging from teammates that aoe3 allows. The worst part is the unit has no counter in age 4 except for a line cannons behind a wall.

    • @t4ntrumtf2
      @t4ntrumtf2 5 месяцев назад

      @@geoffwitt4227 Samurai are actually hard to mass in actual teamgames, and even no units untill 15 minutes still a lot of time where you are exposed with no range units. In general you can counter samurai with counter infantry rifling skirms, cannons will counter but the samurai will just run away, few skirms behind walls will do very well vs them, if not 1 on 1 for sure cost effectively, normal civs pretty much late late game outscale japan in terms of eco anyway

    • @geoffwitt4227
      @geoffwitt4227 5 месяцев назад

      @@t4ntrumtf2 If one can knock through 2 foritified walls in 15 seconds then spawn 50 sams in 20 seconds, their outscaling bases are toast. Some civs can't handle this like Mexico or the Africans. Goodbye any resemblance to realism. As if the grenades from the monks and op mortars wasn't enough. What if the Daimyo all spawned mortars?

      @@SamuraiRevolution You're correct. I think they are trying to attract the Samurai fan club which has become quite large. I will likely avoid the game until they fix this. This is going to be disruptive in all but 1v1 or 2v2 supremacy matches. A large team game can easily sling to the partner with the OP age 4 units.

  • @lolslayer58
    @lolslayer58 5 месяцев назад +1

    • @SamuraiRevolution
      @SamuraiRevolution  5 месяцев назад +1

      I never said they would. This buff won't help them in 1v1s, 2v2s, non-casual 3v3s and 4v4s. All it will do is make them lame-able in more casual modes.
