Your father's reaction to the lyrics and his introspection in contrast with your reaction is great. It shows how the meaning of songs can evolve as your life progresses.
Please do master and the hound by Gregory. He offers a certain emotion that is still found in the original. But it is a perfect contemplation on the end of life/lives
I never heard this song or artist. I think this is a very nice soothing ballad. It has a nice melody and the guitar is well played. This song is haunting lyrically and musically. I agree with you guys that the arrangement is soft and subtle without the addition of other instruments, but kept it simple. When you guys mentioned the F word in the song, it reminded me of when John Lennon used the F word way back in 1970 on the classic Working Class Hero. I remember when my brother and I first heard that. We were teenagers in 1971 or 1972, and it was the first time we ever heard the F word on a record. We were stunned. Lol But that was long ago. Getting back to this song, it is a beautiful song and you guys both gave excellent commentary on your thoughts about the song.
haha we cross paths in the middle of the night Poet! Ya it was just shocking with the tone of the song to hear the F bomb dropped haha. It is a very good song. Buckle up this is the weekend we drop A LOT of song reactions haha
@@ReactionsToTheClassics Yes, This is cool that we get to connect in our communication at this time at night. Lol You are right, in a nice good song the F word is thrown in and it does seem shocking. I am going to take your advice and buckle up and be prepared to watch a bunch of your song videos.I hope I can eventually get to all of them. I'm ready to ride the video train. Lol
I was up late one nightwatching one of those _"I'm bored and this is on"_ movies. The name of it was _"Stealing Home"_ and starred Mark harmon, the guy from NCIS when he was much younger. The original *"Iron and Wine"* version of this song came on during part of the movie and it really, really stuck. Unfortunately I had no clue what the name of the group or song was bc it only played pieces of it during a few parts. About a year later the movie was on again, I recorded it, picked out as many lyrics as I could, then scoured the end credits again and found it. Needless to say, the song was better than the movie which was _ok_ as far as I can recall (I was pretty young, so I might not have gotten everything out of it, but I sure did from the song). It's funny, I only like a few songs by Iron and Wine, but damned if that song isn't fantastic. The Iron and Wine version is legit incredible. Similar vocal style with a little bit more variation but still relatively understated both vocally and instrumentally as the lyrics really are the focus. The only other two songs by them I really like are "Waiting for Superman" and "Muddy Hymnal", but damn if all their lyrics aren't on point and are basically mini movies themselves.
haha i still am a victim even in the streaming world of checking out those late night movies that are just on. Really need to check out Iron & Wine's version. We one of his songs up but that is it and never listened to his original of this! Thanks!
@@ReactionsToTheClassics It's definitely worth the 30 seconds it takes to type "Iron and Wine Trapeze Swinger" into the RUclips search bar. Muddy Hymnal and the Waiting for Superman are pretty intense too, and much, much shorter. I'm trying to remember the lyrics but it's been over a decade (I've been on an Ed Sheeran, Cat Steven's, Tupac, Counting Crows, Sublime and Cranberries kick lately) but this has me thinking about making an I&W Playlist to nap too. They're a unique band in the sense that they are just as likely to play a random Coffee House on a whim (and literally no one knows who they are) or sell out a 50k Stadium somewhere. Heh, I just tossed on a solo show where the lead singer decided to play a small brewhouse/theater that seats about 100. How bad ass would that be? Go out for a drink at a bar with an open mic night and a 50 million albums sold with next to no promotion shows up. You expect them to bust out a bad version of "The Gambler" by Kenny Roger's and it ends up being one of the greatest lyrical story tellers of his generation. Really down to Earth silly rich people. Kinda refreshing.
Gregory Alan Isakov is definitely one of my favorite artists. You should react to his song "The Stable Song"
Really appreciate the suggestion and thanks for watching Aaron DeBusi!
Yes do the Stable Song!
Yes! Please do the version with the Colorado Symphony
Stable song makes me sob like a child and I can't tell you why.
Yes the stable song with the Colorado symphony is so beautiful it’s unreal

Thanks Jesse we really appreciate it!
Same, anyone listening to Gregory is a friend of mine.
Iton and wine would probably never confirm it but this song is about a dead mans thoughts after he’s killed himself. Makes my heart ache
oh wow. Thanks for the insight and for watching.

Will do. Thanks Noah!
