    Here is a really easy liner that can be applied to any shape of crochet bag that you're working on. I use a "running/straight" stitch but if you are concerned that it won't be a tight enough join, I would recommend a "backstitch". That will give you a join that is more similar to a sewing machine. I haven't had issues with the running stitch but just wanted to mention it in case. xx

    I've been watching different tutorials on non-sewing machine methods and kept wondering "can't you just do a regular old straight stitch?" and apparently that answer is yes lol!! thanks for showing me that it can be as simple as I wanted it to be.

    Love this!!! I have very little sewing experience but I’d love to find a way to put a light lining into a light-weight black backpack. The dimensions won’t be as simple but I can figure that out. The part I’m caught on is how to fasten it. Obviously I’ll stay away from using an iron to avoid melting the bag. Stitching the lining may compensate the integrity of the bag. Thanks!

    Great tutorial. 😊 I always line my crocheted bags out of necessity, and I always make pockets on both sides of the bag liner. I also use a cotton fabric. I make one long rectangle pocket then sew 2 seams which make 3 smaller pockets to hold anything I need, I just cant tolerate not being able to organize my purse items.

    Hi Roz , love love your tutorials, always so well explained and this one on lining of the bag is absolutely amazing. I have always bought cotton bags from Amazon and used them for lining the crochet granny square bags that i do a lot ( in the last two years I have crocheted about fifteen granny square bags for friends and families) and the bags cost quite a bit but that’s cheating 😂is it not? But I have learned now from your tutorial how easy it is to line a bag , a big big thank you and by the way I just love your voice, i could just listen to you all day long and your have inspired me a lot too, love all your tutorials.

    These are awesome options. I have made some beachy bags with large holes but people are complaining things will fall through and want a liner. They are super stretchy so how would i allow for material to enlarge also? Ugghhh.

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  3 месяца назад

      It sounds like the type of bags you’ve made is designed to be more of a mesh style ?
      Adding a liner to it isn’t t impossible , it just won’t expand like it did before the liner.
      I’d recommend using an old sheet to “practice” on. Do this method and add a liner to one of your bags and see how it looks. Just do a loose stitch around so that you can easily remove after he experiment.
      It might work well , it might not. But if it does, then you can redo it with nice fabric and take better care with the sewing. 👍🏻

    • @PlayHookywithMe

    How would you do this for a baby blanket? I've been stumped on a no sew fabric backing to a baby blanket

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  7 месяцев назад

      You would do it very similar to this by getting a big square of fabric maybe a half inch bigger all the way around (1/4 inch on each side) then you would fold it in to give a nice folded edge that fits nicely behind the crochet blanket . Then hand stitch or use your favorite gluing technique.
      Here’s another video where I show no sew options that might help give you some more ideas :

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  6 месяцев назад

      The opening? No , I’m not quite sure what you aren’t understanding. You’re using the glue in replacement of the sewing. Maybe watching the Ewing version will help
      Clarify it for you 💕

    Wouldn’t the edges of the liner fray?

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  Год назад +1

      In my experience, not enough that it’s going to affect your seam. It’s not in an area where it will get a lot of friction . If you are concerned by that you can always add a little fray glue to the edge but like I said , it hasn’t been an issue for me.
