When it comes to certain untranslatable Japanese puns, instead of writing all new dialogue for English, they just make a direct translation anyway and cause the characters to sound like they flunked elementary school. For example, when Iris claims that "Mizuki kiss me" is a palindrome, in Japanese it's very nearly a palindrome (ミズ キ！キスミ), but in English she just sounds like a moron.
